A stolen watch.

edited January 2014 in The Walking Dead

Maybe this has been discussed before, and if so my apologizes I simply couldn't find any results when I did my search, but anyone have any guess to what the significance of stealing the wrist watch will have in your playthrough?

The first time I played S2E1, I accidentally stole it. But I played the 2nd half of the episode all over and I didn't take it. Maybe we will find that out later. I probably should've kept it, I'm not sure now.

  • I didn't even know that it existed until my second playthrough.

  • I'm guessing that it maybe Nick's Mothers watch. Just a shot in the dark. It could add compactions when we are either with her brother or son for good or bad. Maybe as a reminded to either of them? I'm not exactly sure how it would help Pete... maybe give him something to hold onto well Clem saws off his foot?

On the other hand giving it to Nick may just make him a bigger drunk feeling like he was the cause of both his Mother and Uncle's death.

Then again it could belong to someone else as well, and may simply just end up being a barter item or something in the future. Or maybe it will be used by Rebecca as proof that you aren't to be trusted inside the group. I'm not sure, we need more information. I'm curious to see what other players are thinking.

I took it by accident on my first playthrough and got worried but nothing happened in this episode, I Telltale could possibly be throwing a curve ball as most people wouldn't want to steal the watch as they don't want to get into more trouble but there could be a situation where you need to to trade or bribe someone with it.

Could be. We are going to be meeting new people after all in the next episode. Let's hope it still works and is valuable to someone if that is the case. lol

  • I've seen some people on YouTube take it, so I'll probably find out from their future episode playthroughs. Rebecca is the reason why I'm so worried about taking it. Oooorrr, it could be absolutely nothing at all!

  • Truth is whether she knows it or not in your playthrough most players have something on her. She will need to tread lightly, which I assume will be one of the themes once we are "walking towards them mountains". Even if she doesn't know yet I'm sure you can let it slip slowly to her if she starts treating you like crap. My "no morals" Clem saved game should be fun with that.

This is really making me want to create a specific file for "no morals Clem", in your words lol. What's the worst that can happen, really? Judging by the slide for episode 3, it seems that those two MAY get along, anyways.

  • From the looks of it they are trapped in some kind of prison (you can see the shadows of the bars in the slide) that has a lot of blood in it... just when the baby arrives!! lol. I wonder who captured them, Carver maybe? Or maybe they are in the prison for safety well the others are fighting off walkers, Clem having to deal with the birth by her self because of her experience with Crista.... plus you know Sarah can't be trusted to even be outside so I don't see how she will deal with childbirth.

Makes you wonder what has happened to Carlos either way, granted I doubt childbirth is what he dealt with on a daily basis but you'd still think he would be there if he could be.

  • Yeah, either Carver or the people who they will soon meet at that time. I think they all get separated during the attack isolating both Clem and Rebecca. But it could also be finding shelter escaping from the walkers, like you said. Ohhh, I can't wait, man!

  • Yea that watch is probably Carver's or one of his groups watch. Troy, Matthew, Walter, and Johnny are apart of Carver's group. Troy is the guy who knocked on the door looking for Rebecca, Matthew is the Asian guy, Walter is the old looking guy, and Johnny is the guy with the AK-47.

  • Or maybe this is some weird version of the comic world, and this is Rick's prison :O

  • I doubt that, they are in North Carolina now going north. The Prison is in Georgia. Could be a totally different prison under a similar idea though I grant you, but Rick's specifically? No.

  • I have 2 saves carried over from Season 1 to 2. Good guy Lee and bad guy Lee. So in Season 2 I have a nice Clem or a bad Clem (or at least trying to be a bad Clem but it's hard coz I hate being nasty lol), but on my saves I have 1 save where she takes the watch (the bad Clem) and the other where she leaves it. We'll see what happens

  • Could be how in season 1 the stranger brought up all the bad things that Lee did. This could be similar to how someone is following Clem and will make a decision on weather to include them in there group kinda how The Road movie was if you've seen it

  • Funny that, i stole the gold watch, i didn't mean it though. I mean come on, it's a point and click game, there's a rule to picking up every single thing you find ever in that genre!

  • I took it I thought I needed it for something

  • I have a similar system, replacing Good Guy with my honest run and my second run with the cheerfully named 'Scumbag' run due to me attempting to make the most awful choices possible, morally and logically. Scumbag Clem lives on through Scumbag Lee's teachings of being horrible, cruel, stupid and otherwise a terrible person to be around, I'm so proud :'(

it reminded me of Lee, its the only reason I stole it

  • I think Clem just thought it looked pretty, so she took it.

    MY PRECIOUS!

  • Yeah, I know. I think the point I was trying to get across was that the prison could be a good thing.

  • Lol, I just took that watch because I thought I needed it for something. Because I am used to taking all the stuff I see in Point and Click Adventures, never knowing when you might need it. Never thought that it will have some moral impact.

  • Sorry, but where is the watch?

Well, you find in the room where you find the bandages I think, the room where there is a picture of duck, in the drawer.

  • When I first played and saw the watch in a family home, talking about trust, etc... I thought to myself, is this about stealing???
    so I left it...

  • I took it because I want to see what happens if you do =)

  • Same, but I only dared do it in my second save file.

I laughed so hard in the FUBAR scene when I realised I still had the bloody thing in my inventory and nobody had brought it up yet. I'm just excited by the possible implications later on!
