A depressing realization

edited January 2014 in The Walking Dead

Omid is a Persian word for hope.

Omid was killed within 10 minutes of season 2.

I wonder if anyone in telltale deliberately thought about this when they decided to kill off Omid in the beginning of the episode (as opposed to Christa).

Hurray for another season of despair and death.

  • I feel like a bad person for reading the first line, then bursting into laughter because I realized where it was headed.

Telltale Games: Killing hope since December 2013.

  • I'm fairly sure it was intended for a long time... like right after the name Omid (Hope) was chosen. Death of Omid = Death of Hope. Can't wait for the next 4 episodes without hope.

  • hahahahahahah Epic. XD

  • Omid confirmed dead. No one else deny it.

  • What else do you expect? The Walking Dead is an emotional game.

    I'm really bad at this, aren't I?

  • Would have been even funnier if the episode would have been named "No hope" as well.

  • D:

    Okay Luke. I'm sorry.

Lets all keep hoping Omid somehow survived.Like,as if something else might have happened to him during the 16 months.

  • If only there was some way that Omid could still be alive.

    Fanfiction

  • Yes, but any good drama needs humour and levity to make the dark segments all the darker. Take Futurama. It wasn't dark sure, but tell me that the Seven-Leafed Clover ending or Fry's dog Seymour's fate didn't hit you right in the feels after so many episodes of gut-busting laughter.

Lee also means shelter, and Clementine means happiness.

"Without shelter nor hope, happiness will have to stick with all that remains."

    Amazing job, telltale. Well played...

  • Do you know what that means? Telltale's been wasting all their time creating names.

  • Well, i'd do the same if I were a writer, bored as hay and want to make something "readers" could see along the lines. And your parents probably gave you your real-life name for a reason other than that you needed one. Nothing deserving of criticism here, unless you're a genetically modified hate machine...

Hm.. Didn't know that. I thought Lee was named after the famous Confederate general in the American Civil War. First because he is a history teacher, second, when talking to Christa in Episode 3 it is obvious he likes Civil War history.

  • That makes a lot of sense, though the name meaning shelter and that a confederate general in the civil war had the name are not mutually exclusive/contradictory. Excuse my derp moment, lol. I was being too poetic.

  • Don't worry about it. ;). Your info was also interesting. But... I ain't a racist or anything but an African American named after a Confederate general? World is full of paradoxes, or TTG just likes toying around...

Robert E. Lee. yep. The day after I finished the game, my teacher brought him up. I started bawling in the middle of class. I got sent to the guidance counselor.

  • Emotional doesn't have to mean sad or depressed. Emotional as in there are high moments in the game and really low ones. Season 1 for example is when you find the st. Johns brothers and they have plenty of food and security. but then the game takes a turn and you find out there cannibals. Or Season 4 i think when you find a boat batterys and some gas only to have the boat stolen. Ups and Downs throwout the whole game

  • Yeah, but so far S2E1 was nothing but downs with very little ups.

  • Hardly. Finding an intact and fairly well-adjusted group like that seems like a pretty big up.

  • I wouldn't call the group fairly well-adjusted. Rebecca's crazy, Alvin's spineless, Nick's a neurotic spoiled brat, Sara is... Sara, Carlos is a douche. Only Pete and Nick are OK.

  • Yeah, my bad. I'm not good with names. Hell, it took me until the latter half of season 2 of the TV show to memorize everyone's names.

  • Hehe.I kept confusing Carley and Lilly for longer than I care to admit.

  • Thankfully I didn't. Lily was too much of a bitch for me to forget her name.
