That one scene is so hard to watch.

That part of the game where she is stitching up her arm looks so painful. Why didn't they just use a cut scene for that part instead of having the player movie the mouse each time?

  • If it was a cutscene, the scene would only have half the effect emotionally and would be immersion breaking to me. It's good that it was hard to watch: that just means you aren't a psychopath who enjoys seeing others in pain. That's a start.

  • Just wait until Clem will help Rebecca give birth. That will make one hell of QTE's....

  • I'll admit that after stitching Clem's arm I needed a stiff drink. TTG did a bloody good job.

  • "bloody"... Ha... I see what you did there...

  • I was watching that scene with a friend for the first time and when Clem putted the needle in his harm we both screamed. That was great.

  • Originally there was no pun intended...
TBH it's just an expression I use when I think something was done really well.

  • If that was hard for you then you need get stronger for the rest episodes.I think terrible things gonna happen.

  • It was definitively a cringe-worthy scene.

  • I kept repeating: "Oh, fuck, not another stitch!".

  • I don't think sawing off Lee's friggin arm made me cringe as much...

  • This and Lee's amputation scene (mainly cutting his own arm) were the 2 most painful scenes in the series, they both made me cringe a little..

  • yep ...wait what happens if you fail then?

Just wait until Clem will help Rebecca give birth. That will make one hell of QTE's....

  • I'm glad this scene was interactive. It was painful to watch, yes. I was cringing during the entire thing, yes. I loved the scene because of it. It's like shooting Duck in Season 1 (though that wasn't nearly as cringe worthy so much as it was depressing) in that it had to be the PLAYER that did it, not just the characters. Both of those scenes wouldn't have been as effective without the PLAYER being the one doing the actions.

  • I felt the pain during it
    bravo telltale epic scene

  • Lee's arm sawing scene wasn't even that horrible when you think about it. The camera cuts away from the arm most of the time, and it goes by quickly. This stitching scene is slow, makes you do every action, and it gives you a not-so-lovely close up of pretty much every time she gets the needle through the skin. I don't think the arm sawing compares to the stitching.

  • I agree, doesnt even come close.

  • Yeah, this scene is a perfect example of why the story is more powerful as a video game. A scene like that induces much more cringing when you're the one controlling the action. Cutting the teacher's leg off in Season 1 was the closest scene there that I recall.

I really enjoyed that scene and the dog scene before that. Not because I'm some sort of sadist who wants to see children get hurt, but because I think that game about zombie apocalypse would be lame if the protagonist (and other people too) didn't suffer all kinds of misfortunes and injuries. I'm glad that TTG didn't decide to protect Clem, just because she's a kid, but decided to make her go through the whole ordeal.

  • At the end of season 02 Clem will become a female version of Chuck Norris. I'm counting on that.

The stitching was really uncomfortable to sit through, definitely.

But for me, the beartrap scene is still the most unsettling for me. I think it's because in Lee and Clem's case their wounds are self-inflicted to save their own lives, but that poor teacher guy was only slightly willing to have his leg hacked off at best.

Watching Clem drinking the juice is harder to watch.

  • Do you want a PG version of TWD

  • Personally it was seeing the dog suffering/dying that was harder to watch. I know he attacked Clem but seeing an animal dying like that was just horrible

  • I didn't think it was that bad. First of all, the way the skin moved during the sewing was kind of silly. It sometimes pulled with the needle as it should, but at other times it would just wiggle around. Also, I have gotten stitches without antiseptic before, and it didn't cause anywhere near the pain Clementine was experiencing. She showed almost Lee-Cutting-Arm level pain for some simple stitches.

Lastly, the opening of the wound looked like a fleshier version of cherry pie. It wasn't quite gory enough to be convincing.

  • Well she is an 11 year old girl, I'm sure it would be painful for her :P

Although, I've never had to get stitches, Well once, but that was for my knee after surgery and I was asleep while they did it. But it hurt like hell afterwards! lol.

  • Your knee probably hurt mainly from the surgery, not the stitches.

  • I love how 'Saltlicking' is a thing now :P.

  • Maybe, But I could feel those stitches pulling the skin, I don't like stitches, But they are better then those staples that they can use now.

Fuck that. I am willing to stitch myself/someone else, but keep the staples away from me.

Don't get any ideas, Telltale. No one wants a stapling scene. Imagine Rebecca getting stapled after a C-section...

  • I partly agree. I remember in another thread people were claiming they wanted a more difficult game. Doing the actually stitching did serve a more emotional attachment but at the same time it was pretty pointless.

Difficult as in harder QTE/puzzles, or more emotional pain? If it is the former, I don't really see the point. I don't think anyone plays TWD for the QTE or puzzle elements. If anything, a higher difficulty would alienate a portion of the player base.

That said, I would like to see less hand-holding. I want to figure things out for myself.

  • Monkey Island is the game for challenging puzzles.
