Human population will no doubt remain low due to occasional outbreaks as a result of failure to dispose of dead properly but overall it should be manageable eventually.
Telltale's The Walking Dead IS Clementine's story. It was always their intent to make her the lead of Season Two. Look how Season One ended, you could CLEARLY tell she was going to come back and (hopefully, now we know) even be the player-character. I would of hated if we had just jumped to a brand new cast. Would of felt that all my efforts to protect her would of been for naught. 400 Days was fine, because that was just a side-story in a sense not following our lead characters, it also felt like a big build-up chapter to get hyped for Season Two. I wanted to see how Clem would live on. Plus, your post kind of confuses me. The Walking Dead universe IS depressing. It's always depressing. There's rare occasions of happiness and whenever there is, they're normally there only for a few moments before hope is shattered once again.
100% agree with this post, couldn't of said it better myself. I'm very sure Lee would be proud of Clementine with how long she's been able to survive. Lee can't be ashamed of her, she's growing up in a zombie apocalypse. She needs to toughen up or she would die.
It felt wrong because I felt like even from what little I played in the demo that Lee would be ashamed of what she's had to become.
He… more'd certainly be upset to see her go through what she's had to go through, but I wouldn't say that he'd be ashamed of what she's become. In fact, I think he'd be rather proud to see the little girl he helped raise become someone who can stand on her own two feet and bravely face down the world that he couldn't protect her from. Remember the last compliment he paid to her. "You're strong, Clem. You can do anything." You get to see a lot more of that strength in Season 2.
Season 1 was about a bond formed in hell that saved two souls from damnation. Season 2 is a grim story about a young woman doing miserable things because the story gods want to torture her.
One of those souls is still in that hell. And she's fighting with all of her strength to keep herself alive, both inside and out, in spite o… [view original content]
You guys ar running too fast. Ok,it's higly probable that season 2 will be much more darker, but we have seen just ONE episode out of five. How can you judge and predict the entire season (and I quote "Season 2 is a grim story about a young woman doing miserable things because the story gods want to torture her.") by just one episode ? I still belive that the ending of S2 will be not too happy, but still it will give us somekind of hope, just like the ending of season 1. Ok,we are in the TWD universe, but as we've seen this isn't the comic and not everything has to get worse. Just wait and THEN judge.
How long is the average zombie lifespan? I don't think it has been established yet.
Mankind can't keep using scavenged items from before the outbreak forever; eventually we'll be knocked back to the stone age. And not only that, but we'll stay there. As soon as the population rises up the zombie hordes will return and we'll be right back where we started. The world as we know it is gone forever. Our best hope is some kind of mass extinction event and the hope that evolution gives someone else a shot, sans zombie apocalypse.
The humans are screwed.

Lol someone get this guy a beer he is funny XD. Season two is awesome. This will prove Clementine grew as a young adult way faster than carl from the show. Carl didn't start being a young adult until season 3
I'm gunna get down voted here and everyone's gunna hate me but....now don't get me wrong, I love clem...love her to pieces. I'd love to have a daughter liker her someday....but I'm kinda hoping TT has the balls to kill her off and go no holds barred, Make a statement, you know. This is a freakin zombie apocalypse guys...people die. People like Clem die everyday and I'm tired on movies and videogames always giving us sugar coated endings so that we can feel better. That is BS! This is NOT how world works and this is certainly not how it works in a zombie universe. TTG, if you got the guts to kill Clem off, I 100% back you. Let's be honest...ain't no way for Clem to survive this.
Pulling "Protagonist dies" twice? Not the best way of action. Telltale's story also centers around Clementine (did center in Season 1, anyway), so killing her off will force them to either create a new protagonist/make another character protagonist or stop doing the game. The Walking Dead is, as some people put it, their "money cow". Many players (though I won't assume everyone) play the game DUE to Clementine, losing them as paying customers is bad for business. That's just my opinion, though.

agreed...but...I'd rather continue with some new characters...see the apocalypse from different points of view as other people would. Clem is definitely their cash cow, that's why it would take guts to do it. I never considered Lee the M.C. in season though, though we played as him. To me, Clem was always the center of this story.

I get what you are saying, OP, but I don't feel the same way. Clementine is my hope and, even if she goes through hell, I'll have that hope 'cause I know she's strong enough to take it and she's alive. I liked episode one and, as sad as I was to see Clem suffer so much, a lot of that had to do with the fact that it was so dark. It felt like telltale was saying "no, we won't hold back, we won't hold back a fucking bit".
That being said, I think episode two or three should try to be a little lighter (not rainbows and unicorns, but still, lighter). Otherwise, we'll run the risk of loosing hope like, sadly, you have and not caring about any new (or even old) character as a preemptive measure (since we'll asume they'll end up dead anyway).
This season will probably be a lot darker than the previous one and I'm as afraid as I am excited to play episode 2. But I believe season 2 will end in a bittersweet yet hopeful way, much like season 1. Because even Telltale is not heartless enough to rob us of that one silver lining.
I guess I like the fact that a happily ever after seems impossible. Makes the inevitable happily ever after all the more powerful. Assuming it isn't too happy, too sudden, and lacking in basic logic.
I've finally played through episode 1 myself and I think my only problem with it is Clementine's lack of a significant connection to the group. Lee's group was great because they all needed each other. This zombie apocalypse comes in out of nowhere and they all become fire-forged friends facing this great unknown and trying to survive together. Lee saved them and they saved Lee; they were tight. Clementine doesn't really owe this new group anything.
This new group seems really interesting but Clementine stands apart at this point. I feel like she could just wander off into the trees going after Christa and I wouldn't miss them at all. One of them needs to do something to cement some kind of permanent bond, because at this point it seems like the only reason she's with them is because they won't let her leave.
I love that Clementine knows how many people have died for her because she wasn't strong enough to take care of herself. I love the guilt and the fact that she seems to have made a conscious decision to finally take her life into her own hands. I think the fights are great now, not that Lee's weren't epic, but Clementine's vulnerability make her victories a lot more badass. Manipulative Clementine was a great idea. She's always been good at reading people so it makes perfect sense.
There's more but I can't think of it right now. Thought it might have been a bit of a dick move to only comment on what I disliked when there's so much about this episode that I loved.

If the infection wiped out 99% of the population there would still be 70 million humans around. That's still quite a lot.

Isn't the standard somewhere around 5 years?

Really? Is that from the comic?
