Ah, Halo: Reach. Feels like it was decades ago. Good game, horrible community. I still don't know what went wrong - the Halo 3 community was awesome but Reach got so much undeserved hate. I felt like I was the only person who liked bloom.
Well, atleast its not as bad as the Halo: Reach forum was, if you said "i like Armor Lock".....It wasnt pretty, and there was lots of flames, … morethe mods would have to do a "carpet bomb ban" as we called it.
Though thats not to say things here are much better, but still. Though i still second guess which is the better of two evils. But like i said, there are still plenty of good people here.

In all fairness though, the majority of people on this forum seem to be legitimate posters who have a real passion for the game. I'm not here much but, besides a few obvious trolls, most people seem pretty chill and rational.
Goto game forums like Battlefield, Madden, or CoD and you will see what a real cesspool looks like.
But yeah I agree OP there is always room for improvement.

Agree, people should really look at some other communities. I am also a member on civfanatics forums, the one that deals with Civilization franchise, and people there amazing, polite, always ready to help regarding the problems you have with the game, they discuss history, certain strategies, their favourite civs, units etc. etc. Although from time to time it escalates a little bit, but the moderators act quickly and warn them, and it stops, even when it escalates there, it is nothing compared to here, where people start insulting each other in every possible way.

Exactly, If your going to argue with someone or challenge their opinion at least have some theory, reason or anything that makes it debatable. A lot of people hate him because of the assumption that all his fans are all immature kiddies, which is entirely not true. I personally don't like or watch his videos, but I respect that he enjoys doing what he's doing. I know quite a few fans that aren't immature like people assume his fans are.

It's really not so bad now that most of the real troublemakers are banned. If anything, it is more tame than 90% of the forums that I have been on. Kenny/Lilly debates get a bit heated at times, but that has calmed down. It would be further improved if IP/Hardware ID banning was implemented, but the forum tools are pretty primitive.
Spambots are pretty annoying, but it is usually pretty easy to avoid their threads by name alone.
About dislikes, I just ignore them. I don't really care if someone dislikes my opinions, it is not as though I am forcing them on anyone. Do the downvoters expect me to feel bad about having opinions or something?

It makes me laugh, that they seem to think that the act of downvoting somehow hurts me or other individuals. I can't speak for others that get the thumbs down, but speaking personally, I couldn't give a flying rats ass.

I'm gonna take a guess that things aren't what they used to be for two reasons.
After the entire changing of the website, a lot of people left, and those here now that remember the old forums were, puts on glasses All that Remained.
The popularity of the game has certainly grown since it's initial release. So more people came to these forums. The more cards you're dealt, the more wild cards you get. Let's say that every twenty people, only one of them is bad. But the population grows, and you're at a hundred people. Now there are five people making heck.
Its not just that , People should be able to control themselves and not just go off on someone just because they don't agree with you, For example someone makes a theory and then someone just comments that his theory is garbage without giving any reasons why , thats when the guy who made the thread answers back and things get heated from there

In the transition to the new site, several of the moderator tools were simplified. They are being improved, but for now unfortunately, we have to rely on encountering posts ourselves and/or having users PM us. The flag system works, but as of currently it is a little disorganized (with improvements in the works from our end).
I apologize on behalf of the mods for all that we miss, but for now anyways, we have to make do with what we can up until our tools become more advanced.
Again, I want to stress that PMing a Mod will get a much faster response for now as opposed to waiting it out or flagging a post.
