I've never wanted to slap someone across the internet for being a dick so much before. It was starting to get borderline insulting over there until the announcement came, I was surprised a moderator didn't close the release date thread because of it because the venom was getting bad.

My comments invariably get downvoted, usually by the numerous idiots that get in this community. Present company accepted.
It makes me laugh… more, that they seem to think that the act of downvoting somehow hurts me or other individuals. I can't speak for others that get the thumbs down, but speaking personally, I couldn't give a flying rats ass.
They can downvote me all they like, it isn't going to change my opinion on anything. Sooner they realise that, the better off they will be. If some in this community can't accept that other people have different views and opinions, then perhaps they ought to stop playing this game and go on to something else more suited to their low intelligence quota.
At first I thought the downvotes were kind of the "I agree/I don't agree" thing, but when I saw people downvote to hell someone for just giving his OPINION I realised it was just a way to troll people.

You're right, the stuff people say to each other, internet or real life, is pathetic. I used to play COD for a bit, until I became sick of the community. There was this one kid once, probably around my age, and he started saying crap along the lines of "You play halo? Wow you suck". And he would not shut up for the whole match. I mean, I can see what provoked him into saying that, seeing as my PSN name is halofan. I was gonna call it xbox player but that was just asking for it. This is the one true fact of the universe: People are @$$holes to each others.

Your story reminds me of something similar that happened to me, I was a admin in a Left 4 Dead game server and there was a really annoying player who would sometimes play on the server but they never did anything that broke the rules until one day she started to do lots of offensive "your mum" jokes, i gave her one warning but she didn't stop so i used a command called !gag which stopped her being able to text chat and that's when the fun began, Her friend started calling me racist because she was Japanese (i had no idea where they where from) and they rage quit and made a "hate list" on their steam group page with my name and other admins names all because i gagged her for being rude. It really annoyed me at the time but now a can look back and laugh at it. Internet anonymity can bring out the worst in people sometimes.

The ****heads exist outside of the internet too. It's so sickening to see what humanity's becoming. People are so quick to judge others that I just wanna slap 'em silly. At school this year I had to deal with a bunch of @$$holes every day. I got crap for EVERYTHING that I said aloud. And I get crap sometimes for not being an AFL fan (I'm Australian). Honestly there seems to be this unspoken rule that EVERY Aussie has to like AFL, but I'm just not into it, or sports in general.

Heard about this problem before on other sites. Good to know that's actually the case now though you may want to put up a topic about how it's better to PM a mod than to flag though I doubt much people will read it anyway.
In the transition to the new site, several of the moderator tools were simplified. They are being improved, but for now unfortunately, we have… more to rely on encountering posts ourselves and/or having users PM us. The flag system works, but as of currently it is a little disorganized (with improvements in the works from our end).
I apologize on behalf of the mods for all that we miss, but for now anyways, we have to make do with what we can up until our tools become more advanced.
Again, I want to stress that PMing a Mod will get a much faster response for now as opposed to waiting it out or flagging a post.

The problem with IP banning is that it only works with static IPs. ISPs generally provide dynamic IPs to their customers, so the IPs change after a while. So banning the IP is only temporary, and eventually it may end up banning a legitimate user. There's also ways around it through proxies. Hardware ID banning can have similar limitations where the IDs can be masked. I did that once to trick rapidshare into allowing me to download files without having to wait an hour or so between downloads.
It's really not so bad now that most of the real troublemakers are banned. If anything, it is more tame than 90% of the forums that I have be… moreen on. Kenny/Lilly debates get a bit heated at times, but that has calmed down. It would be further improved if IP/Hardware ID banning was implemented, but the forum tools are pretty primitive.
Spambots are pretty annoying, but it is usually pretty easy to avoid their threads by name alone.
About dislikes, I just ignore them. I don't really care if someone dislikes my opinions, it is not as though I am forcing them on anyone. Do the downvoters expect me to feel bad about having opinions or something?
