Community Problems Part II (Stupid Posts, Downvoting)

So this is the Second part of the thread I made a couple days ago and since a vast majority of you liked it I've decided to continue it . First Lets focus on the amount of nonsensical posts that get posted here on a daily basis , from links to soccer games to someone mocking Paul Walker , Now the thing that bothers me the most about this is not the post itself but the reaction some people have , Those people think its funny to mock someone who died less than 2 months ago or support a theory that they know was made just to troll everyone , yet when someone is really trying and tries to come up with something that makes sense they just offend that person and show distaste towards them for no reason, Think Twice before deciding who you are gonna be a dick to Man . Second the downvoting problem , so this community was made to DISCUSS other people's opinion and theories , yet the least we do here is that ( unless it has something to do with Kenny) , When people don't agree with something they just downvote the post making it seen like that person is writting pure crap , they took time to try come up with something to share it with all of you , before deciding whether you are gonna downvote it or not let them know where you agree or don't , Maybe together you could come up with something even better , It just drives me nuts when someone is being an asshole to a good Op yet is okay with someone else wasting everybody's time , Ridiculous

You don't deserve the downvotes. The quality and maturity level of the discussions in this community have reached an all time low. It's great to have fun but so many posts lately are either completely stupid, very off topic, or both. Even if I disagree with someone I don't downvote them- it's interesting to hear others opinions and perspectives on things.

Indeed, ive even considered making a certain thread, and have advoided making it momentartly for several reasons, i actually had to question if its worth posting, mostly due to the possible reactions. (might i add, i sent a message (PD) to you salt and i got no response. im gonna assume ya didnt notice :P)
Anway, all opinions in a fair discussion should be equally respected, dispite how much people dissagree. we would be better off with the voteing system honestly. Back in the day Bungie.net didnt have one, still doesnt, why does this site need it?

eh; If i find a topic stupid I tend to just ignore it (it may not be stupid to everyone and the whole point if for people to have free speech). As for down votes who cares? I also just ignore them and often they are simply a quick way of posting your opinion.

Not everyone wants to take the time to explain why they disagree or dislike something, so they downvote it. It's done all the time on Disqus or Amazon or any other site or commenting system. That's what the vote ticker is there for. I tend to explain my position, but not always. I get downvoted sometimes too, just like everyone else and it doesn't bother me. It's just an indicator or agreement/disagreement within the community. It doesn't mean someone is a bad writer, just that people do/don't agree. Also, I disagree that the least thing people do here is discuss theories. That's all I see on these forums, people discussing and debating the game. I guess I just don't really see what you're talking about. I find that it's pretty easy to just ignore that which is obnoxious or not worth reading and the mods do a pretty good job trimming all the irrelevant stuff. To each his own, but I personally don't agree with what you're saying. My experience on TTG forums has been very different from what you describe.

For the smart people it will. It will help to show who to avoid, and it'll help to prevent people who didn't realize their actions.
The main problem is between episodes releases there seems to be a period where there is no new news about the next episode and where everyone has discussed the previous episode(s) and speculated almost everything about the next one, You then get the stupid posts (like the Paul Walker one) made by bored kids who think it fun to troll to offend people, by replying to them they feed of it and do it even more thus creating more posts and annoying more people, the best thing to do is try to ignore them and report offensive or inappropriate posts to a mod to deal with.
Regarding the downvoting i mentioned on your other thread that it seems like a lazy way to respond to someone, i don't care about downvotes but i would much rather have someone tell me why they disagree with me, the old forum worked fine without the voting system as some people where more willing to give a counterargument rather than just pressing the downvote button.
I don't think the upvote/downvote system is bad. On a few threads where I've been arguing about what the opinion of the community in general, it's been good to get upvotes or downvotes depending on what the majority think (a thread where some people were asking for another dog in season 2 comes to mind).
On another note, is there a suggestions thread where we can discuss ideas for how to make the forums better? Because there should be, simply posting about the assholes wont make them go away.

Yea I agree with you saltlick. People also call others trolls for no reason. Only the threads that have photoshopped pics of characters or disrespect Paul Walker get respect and not troll. If it's people's thought's on what they think that's when the rude people try to bring you down and call you troll.

Lol the down votes don't matter nobody wins. the point is people always be rude to others who post threads about their thoughts and rude people get mad and try to bring you down. They call people's threads trolling for no reason. When it's a thread about paul walker being a zombie they seem to have no issues about it. When it's a thread about what people think stupid or not they always get upset and be rude to you to try to get you to agree with them.
It's the fucking internet. What do you expect? Everyone's not going to agree with you on shit that you think matters. They're going to call you out on stuff and most of the time it's not really that pleasant. People make stupid ass jokes and call you a troll. Who the fuck cares? As long as there's people on this forum, there's going to be a fair share of personal insults, troll posts and spam. It's every forum in existence and there's nothing you or I can do about it.
OP, you should go away from your pc and back to the fantasy world of books if you can't even handle a dislike button. I mean, really? Being offended by a dislike only shows how absolute insecure you are and while the medias and reddit may care about your feelings and opinion, the real world behind a bunch of entitled basement autists won't care about how offended and hurt you are. That's the way of life, the way the world works and will work in whatever system you may live in, because you are not special, I am not, and you can only get famous by having talent and/or working harder than anyone else to reach your goals.
PS: See, I'll get some (if not many) dislikes, too, but I don't care because I gave my opinion and can't expect people to always agree with it.
