Post ZA: For Dummies (Spoilers)
The world of TWD sucks.. but one day, far in the future, it probably won't suck as bad. I was told that in the comics a person actually finds a dying zombie. As the first wave of walkers perishes the ZA would calm down and reconstruction of 'humanity' could start. Since everyone is infected, though, the surviving peoples would need to take serious precautions to prevent deaths (or at least prevent the deaths from causing more deaths). What are some precautions you think would need to be taken?

I thought about this too. I mean the zombies are still rotting albeit in a slower pace. In a matter of time their brains will be no more than stinking juice and so they will die. Perhaps this process is slowed down by eating flesh, but as there are almost no humans left and animals can normaly outrun the zombies this will not prevent most of the zombies to die. Most of the population died in the first few weeks of the apocalypse, so there will be a time when this first wave will stop to exist and the zombies won't outnumber the humans any more. Than society can be build up again with some precautions for handling ill and dead people. Hospitals wont ever look the same again.
Handuffs on every surgery table and shotguns on every hallway (directly opposite the fire extinguisher). Can you imagine open casket funerals?
Going out at night is strictly forbidden, people have to sleep in different rooms, sick and old people have to live in quarantine, pregnant mothers aren't allowed to see their babies because if they bear a dead one, they could panic. For that reason disabled and zombified babies would be killed so the mother doesn't know wether her baby was a zombie or not if she is not allowed to see it. Furthermore assemblies are strictly forbidden and so are festivals with too much people. People have to live in some kind of city that is structured like a bee nest, so if one zone falls you can close the gates to the infected zone quickly.
Sounds like you have it all planned out! I like the city idea but what about rural areas? Farm towns and such. Each house is gated in? The mother would know it was turned when it didn't come back, just saying (although not seeing the child as a zombie would probably be beneficial to the mother's psyche).
At the same time, you've got to remember that the survivors will want to build a life worth living. What's the point in living in a world like that? Perhaps if a group led by someone like Negan were the ones to rebuild civilization the world would be like that, but if the Allies(from the comics, Alexandria, The Hilltop, and The Kingdom) come out on top, I don't see them building a world like that.
A life worth living, at least they would be living
If only Doug were still alive. I'm sure he could have rigged some of those watches with heart rate monitors to have an alarm go off once the heart rate stops.
That's the more survivalist attitude of characters like Shane(TV), Lilly, Larry, The Governor(Comics), and other characters. In TWD, you constantly see characters who think that a life that's totally ruled by survival wouldn't be worth living. For example, Rick(All Versions), Andrea(Comics), Lilly(Novels), Kenny(to some extent), The Governor(TV), Holly(Comics), and... Well, there are just too many to name really. But the point is that TWD very much supports the idea that a life totally ruled by survival isn't one worth living. I mean, clearly if things ever get back to normal, then there'd be a lot of changes. Extra precautions in hospitals, maybe some tool will be invented for easy, yet none brutal brain destruction(Like Kenny said, a pill that will just let them slip away), funerals would be different... But no parties or gatherings? There's a fine line, but I think it's one that the survivors in the actual series will be careful of.
Everyone is armed twentyfour-seven and everyone sleeps in there own room which is locked from the inside.
Damn I miss Doug
24/7? Even now not everyone is armed 24/7.
Then again, there just was that episode in the TV show where a bunch of people were killed in their sleep, so perhaps that isn't a bad idea...
I would definitely have the suvivalist mentality if I survived past the first few days of the ZA.
Well, I wouldn't.
So... I guess we'd be enemies?
How about frienemies?
Yeah, I'm cool with being frienemies.
