Well... We didn't get many choices in this episode. In our dialogue, I mean. In TWD S1, you got many more chances to take sides, and say who you agreed with and who you didn't. In S2 so far, all those moments seem petty, and the way it is written sometimes gives you two throwaway lines, the standard "..." and a fucking cruise ship of a line.

"OOH! I'm a little girl!" (Despite Rebecca clearly showing previously that she doesn't give a flying fuck)

"Luke invited me to stay!" (She didn't seem to care much about Luke's opinion literally every fucking time she talks to him)

"WHOSE BABY IS IT?!" (What you've wanted to do all episode)

    ...

Also, the comics start really shitty, but actually, I like the comics more than S2E1. Maybe that's because of the fact that this is the intro, or maybe the far worse writing this episode. Or Melissa Hutchinson's voice acting.

  • Ouch touchy subjects here! What's wrong with the writing? What's wrong with Melissa's voice acting?

  • I love her voice acting, top notch stuff in my book.

Weird fact, I've never seen a picture of her because I don't want to see her everytime I play as Clem :p

  • In this episode? No. The animation is what made her have any emotion whatsoever. Aside from maybe accepting Nick's apology, or making the villainous choices like "Whose baby is it?"

  • It's pretty clear what they wanted you to think this episode. With Larry, there was some room to like him, even though they wanted you to hate him. With Rebecca, it's just all hate all the time. There's literally no reason to like her. Melissa's voice acting sounds bored, and she just doesn't seem to give two shits.

Oh shit you are Monotone-Harpa, again isn't part of the story telling. What reason did we have to like Larry in the first episode?

  • I don't know. I'm only just barely halfway into the comics so far, and it hasn't seemed too "Bad for the sake of being bad." There's been a lot of bad, bad, baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad shit happening, but it all seemed to contribute to something. The rapists and the cannibals, they show just how far Rick is willing to go. The Governor is a bit far, especially if you read the books, where he has sex with his zombie niece. In the comic, he gives her a gross kiss, but that isn't too far. The Governor in the books is too far.

  • I can understand that, but I felt like Ellie was me. She seemed like me if I were a girl born after the zombie apocalypse. Just how she talks and moves and everything.

Maybe that's the point. That could be a cool message. Anyone can be crazy, or something along those lines. Maybe over time, she's pushed so much, that when she does turn cruel, you expect it.

Also, if it doesn't culminate in anything, and is just there because it's "realistic," I'm gonna be pretty pissed. Especially if Kenny is alive, because it would show just how fucking little they care about realism, and right now, that's how it looks.

  • Oh, don't get me wrong, it's really fucking far, but not too far. I mean, especially when you see it as I saw it, which was just a kiss on the lips, while her mouth was bleeding from him pulling her teeth.

  • The fact Rebecca is protecting her daughter/son from a potential spy. Granted, Clem didn't deserve it, and she is just a little girl, but it seems a bit out there to just trust a random wanderer. Especially around the only two people you have left in the world.

    Sound similar? :p

If what doesn't culminate into anything? Rebecca? Because that surely will, it is unavoidable. They have done nothing, in my eyes, to show show unrealistic tendencies. How do you see they are pandering to unrealistic situations? Kenny being alive would be the lowest I have ever seen them go on the realistic meter, but I don't even think it's that unrealistic. I'd give that entire situation a 6.5/10 on the meter :p

  • Having Ellie die would just make it another clichéd video game ending. And if there's one thing you learn from playing as Joel, it's that he is not the noble heroic type. The fact that he would rather save Ellie and murder most of the Fireflies who are trying to find a cure is proof of this.

  • I like Clementine better as a character, Especially after playing "All that remains" she is much more smarter and capable now.

  • I don't remember it that way... Odd.

  • When it's a little girl... It loses ninety percent of its impact.

Her monotone voice. If there's nothing about it, it's never mentioned, it never goes away. That's it not culminating. On the unrealistic meter, the one person they steal from just HAPPENS to have a radio, and he is somehow able to track down this child, despite her probably not knowing where the fuck they are. Also, not to mention they were going the wrong direction to Savannah when they found the train. On top of that, the dude in the fucking car got to Savannah before the train. He was fully aware of their movements all the time, on top of that.

  • That's like saying you wouldn't give a blood transfusion to an amputee, because he hardly deserves it. The world is just injured. It wouldn't stay that way forever and ever. Eventually, it would go back to normal with a vaccine or a cure. People would notice how fucked it is, and eventually, they would get rid of it.

Um... How? Did she ever mention knowing about patient clothing before?

Oh... Shit. Well... I guess their methods were off, but even then, Joel could've delayed it until she woke up, as he knew that this was the last chance for humanity.

  • A threat is a threat. 90%, I disagree, maybe a small amount but the point still stands the two situations are remarkably similar.

The voice? It will go away, it was used to display just how hopeless she felt after losing everything. With the introduction of new people and new plans, there is new hope. She may even retain her monotone voice for another episode, but when everything starts to unfold you can expect her to be at the forefront, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

The stranger having a radio isn't unrealistic. She tells him how to track them, and she isn't an idiot, she knows where they are and where they're going.

How do you know they were going the wrong direction? (Honestly interested in this lol)

I never thought of the stranger beating the train to the Savanah, thanks for bringing that up. Definitely an overlook in the game and that may now take the spot of lowest spot on the realistic meter for me.

  • Alright scratch out the "For a world hardly deserving of it?" if you don't agree with it, the rest is still completely valid.

If she knew she was going in for surgery she would understand why she changed clothes. She isn't completely clueless like "I'm going in for brain surgery, they want me to change clothes.... this makes no sense." Also, again, she would put herself in the clothes (if she was informed of her situation) so whether or not she understood what they were for she would understand that she was in them before her and Joel left so she wouldn't be confused as to why she had them on.

Perhaps he should have. I wouldn't trust those willing to flat-out murder a 14 year old girl.

Alternate point, the military would have the same equipment (or even bette versions of) for creating the vaccine, the Fireflies aren't the last chance for humanity.

I hope this all makes sense, I'm out of it at the moment.

  • I don't think you're understanding. All that shit would go away. Especially after the Fireflies using it for "political gain."

I don't see why it's common sense to change clothes for surgery, knowing what Ellie would know. Also, maybe they simply forgot to tell her, and then they didn't have a super lot of sedatives. Anyways, now, seeing the Marlene quote again, I understand it better.

But what the fuck would they be able to do? Especially with the EARTH resting on her shoulders.

They don't have Ellie, and they don't listen to Ellie. Remember when they were caught outside the first city (my mind is blank at the moment for some reason)? They just flat out tried to kill her. Why would they ever stop trying that?

Scratch out "For a world hardly deserving of it?," the rest of it can't 'go away'. The Fireflies using it for political gain would more than likely consist of not giving it to people who don't agree with them. The Fireflies would victimize people.

I don't think you understand what this situation entails, it is impossible for her not to know why she is in those clothes unless she didn't know about being put into them, which would mean she never awoke. I'm not arguing perhaps she doesn't know what the clothes are (which is actually still unlikely) but that she would know why they were on her.

"But what the fuck would they be able to do? Especially with the EARTH resting on her shoulders." What? I am going to chalk this up to me being under-the-weather and not being able to comprehend everything at my regular level, because I'm sure it makes sense.

When they are outside Ellie attacks them (Joel and Tess kill them) before the scanner is complete, ergo we don't know how they would react. They could be prompted to the situation through another person without putting Ellie in harms way, allowing them to meet her without the initial "KILL HER QUICK" reaction a person just presented with a bitten person would react. They wouldn't need to stop trying that because technically they never started trying that.

  • Yes, but it would all be temporary. I'm guessing that even with the vaccine to hold over people's heads, they'd still lose. Then the government would have it, and for a while, it would be very expensive, and only for the upper class, but eventually, it would get to everyone. Eventually, the world would sort itself out.

I understand. What if they were low on sedative (the shit that makes her fall asleep). That's very possible. It's very possible and likely that they wouldn't want to waste the whole sedative they gave her, so they just changed her clothes for her. She didn't change them herself, and she didn't know what they were (which is very likely).

With Joel holding his shotgun at them, what could they do to get out of there? Or do anything against him? Also, I was less clear on the second sentence, but that was more meant for why Joel didn't do it. Why wouldn't he do it with the whole earth resting on her shoulders?

Well remember out on the street? They just shot those people as soon as they got the readings.

  • Eventually the world will sort itself out even without the vaccine, keep on keeping on. Let's be realistic, the Fireflies are a terrorist group, the chances of them sharing the vaccine with anyone other than people in their ranks is low. Eventually it would get to everyone? Not in their hands.

Why would they give her sedative before changing her clothes unless they didn't want her to be concious? You're argument is just stating they sedated her before she was ready for surgery which is just backing up everything I have said previously. If she was informed and was concious then she wouldn't be sedated and then changed.

This section still makes little sense to me. Why would Joel shoot everyone? Because they were going to murder Ellie.

Good point, the idea of letting them know about Ellie before showing them Ellie is still as plausible as ever.

I'm honestly losing interest in this conversation, ever since we started talking about whether Ellie knew or not things have been getting very repetative.

A mistake, possibly. Maybe they knew what they were doing. That seems to be what Marlene implied, which I admitted several posts ago.

They were going to get the vaccine. Fuck, they might not have even been around when she was sedated.
