You don't know who Super Mario is? Hmmm.. I am not sure if you really don't know who he is or you are just trolling?
But... That's this guy:
World's most famous plumber!
Story: The Walking Dead/Beyond Good and Evil
RPG: Fallout 2.
MMO: Runescape.. 2006 where have you gone
Multiplayer: Call of Duty 4/… more Modern Warfare 2
Singleplayer: GTA San Andreas
Shooters: Oh boy, where do i start? Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior classic, Blood.. too many to count.
Other: Last of Us, WoW, Guild Wars 1, STALKER games, GTA V (a good game but disappointing imo) Civ V is pretty good too.
If you like story-based games than you should definitely play Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 and Defiance, although I would also advise Blizzard's older games, Fallout or Planescape: Torment.
In terms of story, well, I consider Telltale's The Walking Dead to literally be the best story ever written of any media. It has better writin… moreg and story than any book, TV show, or movie that I've ever seen or read.
As an actual game, I'd have to say Bastion. It had an amazing plot and narrative, a beautiful art style, and it was just an overall awesome game. I think I've played the whole thing through about 8 times.
Also, I'd give honorable mention to Hotline Miami, because once more, awesome gameplay, narrative/plot, artstyle, but it's a 4-5 hour game. So... There's that. Maybe the sequel will be a bit longer.
And then games that were good, but not necessarily my top three would include, for story, the Bioshock Series, Alan Wake, Assassin's' Creed Franchise, The Wolf Among Us(so far), Broken Age(so far), and possibly Fahrenheit.
As for gameplay, State of Decay and.... Well, I don't really play games for gameplay and mechanics and stuff like that, I mainly like games for story.
The Last of Us, Resident Evil 4, Kingdom Hearts 1-2, Assassins Creed 2, Batman Arkham Asylum, Dead Rising 2, Dragon Quest IV, Vi and Viii, Sheep Dog'n Wolf.. To name a few.
Telltale restored my Interest in Gaming again. Yet only for Story focused Content anymore. But on that you're pretty lost these Days..
Yes, they still maintain the Steam version, it's on all three major OSes and the final level has been made less frustrating than the original, which is in the console and GOG versions.
My first fav game is without a doubt
"Star Control II"
Its an old Dos game of 8mb
Space adventure. Mass Effect reminds me of that game in many ways.
Fans of the game improves the graphics added voices and so on making it suitable for windows. 200+mb
In this game u control a starship meeting different alien species, some old allies, neutral and hostiles.
The game allows some diplomacy and even if u fail at that its not the end, u either got a new enemy or they just won't help u.
There r some moral choices to be made like selling crew as currency or sending an entire species to a suicide mission to buy time...
Romance...
Your ship
The capital ship can ferry a fleet of ships, each race their own type of vessel.
It can be upgraded to be faster, more fuel, more cargo to carry harvested resources more crew (hit points)
Weapons (quantity, arc & quality)
Alien artifacts, etc.
Planets
Scan for resources, lifesigns and artifacts to be harvested.
Some planets/moons may contain sentient life to converse with.
Some systems may have ships roaming around. (friend or for) if ur fast enough u can escape hostiles.
Space
Find coordinates through conversations or blind exploration. If run out of fuel and have a special comm device u can call for help in refueling only if u got the right commodity.
Long distance travel, speed upg is a must or just sit back and listen to the music...
Or get intercepted by roaming ships in space. There r some anomalies that can help with travel if u find them.
Linear?
U don't have to meet everyone or do everything... U can finish the game quite fast if u know what to do.
Like fallout, u can find the end goal at the beginning of the game if u know where to look or end up there by accident and still live to bare witness ur doom...

if you think TWD has the best story ever, than you are missing out on many games that blow TWD's storytelling out the water. my all time fave game for storytelling and one i highly recommend you play if you can is the legend of dragoon for PS1 which is an rpg. I also recommend, dragon quest VIII for PS2 (also an rpg), the longest journey (the title is VERY befitting of this game) and syberia (no i did not spell that wrong) both for the PC.
try some indie games as well. i'm trying to play more myself and some that i've played are just wonderful like the unfinished swan and rain.

I can't really follow up on most of your suggestions because I don't have ANY consoles to speak of. Also, I do like a lot of indie games, for example, Bastion. My all time favorite game.

Yeah...COD.Ghosts needs 6GB RAM. And I'm not sure if your video card is strong enough. But I thin that your processor is good. So, that explain why there's lag.

You are silly because you dont play COD ghots
Why dont other games of COD?? ALL COD GAMES ARE REALLY AMAZING
Well, why not? If a man likes Super Mario, probably played him back as a kid, he has every right to consider it his best game.
Not all of them... Besides there are far more amazing games than COD ones. But, that is just my opinion, each to his own I suppose.

Not a fan of the later ones to be honest. After Modern Warfare 2 I kinda just stopped playing.

I should check that out. I've heard lots of good things about it but never got to playing it. Is the Steam port good?

Knytt Underground, Grim Fandango, LeChuck's Revenge, Age of Empires II and Red Alert 2 are also awesome games.
I'd recognize Ford's bacon anywhere.

Removing your duplicate comments. Don't worry, the "spam" flags don't mean you are in any trouble from the mods.

Perhaps your computer doesn't have the system requirements needed to run COD:Ghosts?
Core 2 DUO 2.93, 4GB RAM, 500GB Hard Drive, GeForce GTX 650.
