Broke Bigby is Making Me Angry
Well, Frustrated really.
Anyone else find it annoying, that the only way to have money in this game, is by being selfish, or stealing? Doesn't Bigby have a job and a salary? Why is it, that I need to ignore Faith's plight, or steal Dee's roll, or rob Georgie, just to get money?
And when Nerissa looks at me like I'm some loser, I could only think:
"Look lady, the only reason I can't pay you, is because I helped out one of your fellows. And I'm not going to abuse my position or authority, by stealing from people no matter how scumbaggish they are."

I too was broke. I wonder, if you do have money, does Nerissa actually come to the room with Bigby and give him more information? If so, I might have to steal Dee's money next time before breaking a bottle in his face.
He probably does get salary, but mind you, only 2 days have passed. He doesn't get paid by day, he's not a detective on demand. He probably gets his monthly pay check like everybody else does.
The stealing or refusing is however kind of obnoxious, but it does kind of send a thrill, doesn't it? That feeling when you stuff the wad of cash the tweedle had down your pocket just reminds you that you're actually the big bad wolf.
But then again, it's not about money in this game, is it really?
Wait, we couldn't pay Nerissa if we didn't take Dee's money?
Well, shit. I'm glad I stole it then. Uh... "confiscated" I mean. It was evidence. And technically, it DID help with the investigation.
I collect money every time. In next episode Nerissa will dance for me. I must have cash.
Bigby isn't rich, especially with what he does for a living.
Ya, I confiscated it too. For evidence reasons if you know what I mean.
Who needs an evidence locker when Bigby has a back pocket?
Felt good when I gave the little mermaid my "evidence".
I kinda regret giving Faith money now lol
From what I can tell, you get the same amount of info regardless. In my first playthrough, I took my money back from Georgie's safe, and used that to pay her. Funny how I payed two prostitutes with the same 58 bucks.
In my second playthrough, I stole the wad of cash from Georgie's safe, because Georgie's an asshole. I used that to pay her, which I think is pretty poetic or something. In both cases, however, the same thing happened: She gave me Key 204.
EDIT: Aaaand that wasn't meant to be a reply to your comment. Whoops.
Anyone else find it annoying, that the only way to have money in this game, is by being selfish, or stealing?
If by "being selfish" you mean "not giving a prostitute all the money in your wallet", then no, I don't really find that annoying. You have money at the beginning of the episode, and you gave it away. Then you're angry that you have to steal it back to be able to spend it again?...
Doesn't Bigby have a job and a salary?
His job doesn't pay well and he hasn't gotten his paycheck yet. Even if he gets paid every week, it's still totally within reason that it's not Payday yet.
Why is it, that I need to ignore Faith's plight, or steal Dee's roll, or rob Georgie, just to get money?
That's three options to get money you have there. Yes, if you give all of your money away, you no longer have money. And if you do give it all away, you have two to three more (depending on whether you took in Dee or Woody) opportunities to get more. If you pass up each and every one of those, then no, you won't have any money to pay Narissa. I don't think a fourth/fifth opportunity was really necessary.
So, yeah, if you no longer have any money because you spent it (regardless of whether it was spent well or not), then you're going to get a weird look from someone who is offering their services for money.
That being said, is it possible to keep your money/steal it back from Georgie, and take Dee's, and take Georgie's roll? You'd be swimming in cash then.
Hmm, I didn't know you could steal money from Georgie. I'm sure there was a prompt, but it must of slipped past me.
He doesn't even notice him stealing it.
Wow, you are condescending.
Why do I have to give her all the money I have? Why not let me choose? Also, I used the word "selfish" in its most literal of ways. An action or decision based on helping oneself first. Nothing bad about it, just out of the two options one was selfish, the other selfless.
No kidding, three more options. All of which involve breaking the law. That's kind of my point. No legal option to get money. If I passed them up its because my character is a friggin' SHERIFF, and it doesn't make sense to steal.
That was kind of my complaint. Not some confusion as to why my pockets are empty.
If you reexamine the floor safe.
I didn't have any money at all to pay her, Nerissa just talked to Georgie about it and I got the key anyway. So you don't have to do anything morally wrong to get the information.
The Little Mermaid paid for it with her own money. Georgie doesn't care where the money comes from - Bigby or Nerissa. He just wants his cut.
So now people are complaining that their choices have consequences?
Not really(Although it is nice to finally have that lol), the problem is that the choices are kinda unfair. Why are the only instances where you get money lopsided to make you give it away, one of the main points in these sort of games is that it should be morally ambiguous. I just wish that they had the option to give faith half your money, then keep the rest. The scene would play out the same as it doesn't matter if you do give her money, but then you have some for the other scenes.
I think there is obvious reason why most fables are broke/in shitty position. They don't work for regular folk for the most time. So the ones who posses gold or valuable's can stay rich and the rest work for each other and don't earn all too much. BigBy doesn't own a car and lives in 1 room apartment.
I have a question, if you take tweedles money, but be nice in the interrogation about everything else, do you still get considered an asshole torturer guy? Or do you have to do everything nice?
When he's phoning your "superiors". Go back behind the bar to the floor safe, there is the $58 if you gave Faith money in Episode 1, plus another roll of cash.
Bigby isn't rich in the comics either. He doesn't even have that big of a budget from the Woodland's Government, he often sends the cost off to the Mayor's office.
It's realistic. Doing the right thing doesn't pay.
I took dee's money as a form of "interrogation" so I was good.
That's kinda the point, isn't it?You are a sheriff, and you can choose to remain faithful to your job,or actually do something to...i dunno how to say it...appear like you're fine, financially speaking?I dunno...You have your money, and you can choose to spend it the way you like.Giving it to Faith kinda resembles charity.Stealing money from Dee of Georgie would mean degrading yourself morally, leaving you with the guilt. It's all up to you,TellTale is giving you more chances to discover what kinda person you really are...or Bigby is,whatever.I'm just okay with it.
If you only take his money but don't harm him in any other way, you're still Mr. Nice Guy.
I tried taking Dee's money, but I felt far worse about doing it than for smashing a bottle in his face. The violence is a momentary lapse of judgement due to recent emotional upheaval, whereas stealing his money is just a dick move. Bigby's no thief.
Having said that, I did take the $58 from Georgie's safe. However, since it was Bigby's to begin with and it didn't do Faith any good in the end, it seemed only right to take it back.
"How do you think this all works? By being big and being bad."
I missed Georges money I'm mad I would have took it. I took Dee money and I will take any criminals money. That's how it goes in the
Street. Don't kid yourself
I used my money to pay for that drink at the bar, and felt like such a badass. Once I'm able to play episode 2, I will happily rob Dee, lil bastard deserves it. I dunno who Georgie is, but I'll take whatever I can get.
I encountered a money glitch during the club, lol.
Well...I just thought of this...If you DO take Georgie's 58 dollars, then you can pay Nerissa using what you already had plus what you took from Georgie. When yo pay her,she takes the money back to Georgie,so you practically give him back his money AND a little extra. So it's not really stealing.
Which is fine, but there doesn't ever seem to be a balance. There is never an option to go to an ATM. The game forces you to play as a broke Bigby, and the only options that ever come up, are crimes. If you miss out on something due to things you did an episode back (or more) at least provide more options. I mean if you're going to try to fit morality into the game.
Who knows how your helping Faith will play out later, but as of now, its an option to lose out on several options later. I just hope its actually worth it to be good in this game.
How do you know its the money you gave faith? Did I miss something?
No I'm not. But thanks for reducing my post to an easy to counter strawman.
That's a good point.
Look, I'm saying there isn't a good reason for it. I'm just saying its frustrating.
