"These lips are sealed" possible minor spoilers

edited February 2014 in The Wolf Among Us

I think that this repeated saying is due to some spell. I feel it's like the La-Le-Lu-Li-Lo from the Metal Gear Solid series where characters could not say "The Patriots" and were forced to say the above by nanomachines. So instead of nanomachines, here they use magic. Some magic is concealing these prostitutes from the mirror and they all say it. I think it means something like that we'll find out later.

PS: It was weird that Georgie called the business office when I didn't even harm him or trash his place.

You must be psychic, you read my mind.

  • You did notice that everyone who said that was wearing a ribbon, right?

  • Good one! The magic thing is obvious of course but I did not spot the ribbon, thanks!

damn, you people need to find out about this? I thought it was obvious, since the mirror also did the same

  • Red herring, maybe? I think it's the lipstick. As soon as Nerissa put some on, she started saying that same phrase over and over again.

  • But wasnt that because Bigby had started asking her really important questions?

  • Its all done for anonymity, I believe Georgie wasn't BSing you about that part that even he didn't know the real client names. Everyone who has the spell on him can't be tracked by the mirror and can't reveal certain things and replay - these lips are sealed.

  • I'm thinking its magic, I'm, still wondering who that other girl was (the one that let Bigby in)

That's possible, especially since the whole point of the place is that it's "discrete". I'm reaching but perhaps it has something to do with the ribbon around his bowler hat? Everything seems to be connected with ribbons, even the male strippers on the poster all wore bow ties that I could see.

I personally think that the ribbons have a big thing to do with it, obviously. When Faith was saying "Do you like my ribbon?" she wasn't hitting on Bigby, but instead was trying to give him a clue about why she couldn't talk to him. The fact that the magic mirror says the same exact wording "because this is the way it has to be" show further the root of the magic spell. The real question is what known magical Fable has a connection to controlling people? That's what I've been trying to figure out lately. The closest you get when you look up "These lips are sealed" and fables is a Hillary Duff song, and I highly doubt that has to do anything with anything. lol. I guess I should buy a big book of Fables and start searching. An unknown powerful magic user, if not behind it exactly is a big part of this.

  • I support this, as when Bigby asks Nerissa about room 207, she says she literally CAN'T tell him.

  • Ive read (from people who read the Fables comic) that shes supposed to be an undercover secret agent. Ive also heard that the only secret agent in Fable town is Cinderella or some other fable I really dont know for sure, thats just what Ive heard from people.

I'm thinking its magic, I'm, still wondering who that other girl was (the one that let Bigby in)

  • I use to think the spell was in the ribbons around the girls necks. Notice all the girls Bigby had talked to that said "these lips are sealed" had one around their necks (this includes Faith, Nerissa, and the girl who let Bigby in) they all said that line atleast once. Only Nerissa pushed herself to say more. But when Georgie said that he didnt know and started talking about the "discresion policy", I started to think that it wasnt the ribbon because even couldnt say anything. Although he didnt say the special line, he acted like all the girls did when asked about really important things regarding their work. It may not be the ribbon. Maybe it is the ribbon (for the girls) that holds the spell and something more manly (for Georgie).

  • Or you could start looking up fables that control others or something like that?

  • Ah I forgot to make the connection to the ribbons. Maybe because the Mirror said it threw me off that trail. I honestly think BlueBeard is behind like 90% of everything.

  • The whole thing with the ribbons reminded me of a story I read as a child. I thought it was a Brothers Grimm tale but discovered otherwise when I went looking for it just now. The story's called The Girl with the Yellow Ribbon.(http://www.experienceproject.com/stories/Love-Ghost-Stories/1028468). Rather creepy short story.

The ribbons and the fact that they're beheaded at the point where the ribbon is along with them saying the line about their lips being sealed are likely all connected somehow. Possible Georgie's also under the spell's influence along with his girls. Still too early to really come to any conclusion. We all missed the ball with Snow. Hind sight is 20-20 and the line regarding Holly's sister Lilly in game 1 now makes it more obvious what happened. And since Telltale seems to have rewritten a large chunk of episode 2, perhaps they've moved out of the line of obvious and decided to distract us instead because we were too quick to catch on. What was intended in episode 1 may no longer be intended now. The ribbon may only be something related to Georgie and how he controls the girls but not necessarily be related to the murders anymore. It just might help keeping the girls quiet about the murderer. Telltale has probably started to throw red herrings at us to keep us gnawing on the wrong bait.

  • wow! I like that theory! :)
