How is YOUR Bigby Evolving?
Here's a fun thread, since we are now two episodes into the season!
How is YOUR Bigby Evolving in your story?
For me, I had a short temper in Episode 1. The puzzle at Toad's apartment made me take the quick way out and hit him to get the answers from him, much to Snow's disappointment and TJ's fear. I went uber violent with Gren and tore off his arm while in wolf mode! So my Bigby entered the episode as a jerk.
At the beginning of Episode 2, I was cold to pretty much everyone. The cop, Icabad, even Dee who I arrested at the end of the last episode. When it was revealed that Snow was alive, I found myself walking on egg shells and trying to be nice. The first chance to at redemption was with TJ, followed by picking the options during the investigation of the body that leaned towards respecting Snow's feeling towards seeing her corpse. Then there was the scene in the bar with breaking the news about Lilly to Holly, and with Snow there, I broke the news gently to her. When I was by myself, I didn't bust up much of Georgie's club (just the keg and the DJ Booth) or beat the crap out of Beast.
In my game, Bigby is clearly trying to rebuild bridges that he may have burned down because of his monstrous behavior in the previous episode! If I was watching this on TV or something, I would suspect it would have something to do with the fact that he thought he lost Snow. And now that she is back in his life, he's trying to right by her.
How's your Bigby doing?
Comments
Tough, but still nice to TJ and Holly.A jerk to Bluebeard, because fuck him and his pretend authority.Cold and annoyed with Crane.A true friend to Snow. Not really indulgent with the prisoner, but not a savage, either.A good detective, trusts Beauty, doesn't hit Beast when he's down, but wrecks that asshole's,Georgie's,place. Was really nice to Nerissa, because i actually pity her for what she's been through.I mean,he's actually still big and bad,but a little more...human.He wants to convince Fables he's changed after all, right?
My Bigby is all about his relationship with Snow. He started Episode 1 in full control of himself, eager to put his past behind him. He was understanding and at least neutral to most people. He built bridges with the Woodsman and didn't tear off Gren's arm. My Bigby was committed to being the man Snow would want him to be.
Needless to say, at the beginning of Episode 2 my Bigby was pissed. He was impatient at the police station, and accused Crane of never caring about Snow. During the interrogation he tried to do things by the book but at the very end, when Dee refused to tell him who his boss was, Bigby snapped and smashed a bottle into Dee's head, then choked him while accusing Crane of treating Snow terribly during her life.
Then Snow walked in and saw him relapsing into needless violence, and from that point on my Bigby will not lose himself again.
with Dee I played good cop mostly (tightened his straps after he blew that smoke into my face), and i tried to be nice to everyone, including Crane. I didn't mess up Georgie's stuff although I was tempted to destroy the keg and I tried to stop Beast, didn't punch him second time. My Bigby's not gonna turn into the monster he once was again, unless he absolutely has to. It's about building bridges now, not blowing them down further
I'm playing him as nice as possible, because he really does seem to want to redeem himself for what he's done in the past.
I always play the good guy character, too, so that's a plus.
Held my shit together.
My Bigby started out as a socially awkward grumpy guy. He's not exactly a jerk, but he has trouble socializing and responding to kindness, particularly. I ended up being mostly silent in the first half of the first episode. And while my Bigby certainly doesn't shy away from violence if threatened, I never chose an unnecessarily cruel option. I stopped Faith from stepping on the axe and left Gren his arm. The way I see it, Bigby has a soft spot for Snow (that much is obvious) and her gentleness rubs off on him, and it motivates him to control himself. Also, Snow is the only person my Bigby is nice to, while with the others I mostly pick the grumpy or sarcastic dialogue options.
Anyway, enter episode 2. Snow was murdered and the proverbal restraint on my Bigby's savagery was gone. So Dee got the full force of it. I took every single violent option in the interrogation and in the end was about to beat the shit out of Crane. When Snow walked in, however, my Bigby was ashamed of himself. Hence, for the remainder of the episode, I was nicer than usual. Didn't pick a single violent option. Georgie's place was left entirely in-tact, and Beast was beat up only enough to defend myself. I even intentionally missed some optional prompts, getting the shit beat out of ME instead.
Also worth a mention is that my Bigby now has a touch of paranoia. He almost lost Snow once, and he does not want to go through that again, therefore he's (even more) fiercly protective of her now. Even though she doesn't seem to like it.
I'm kind to the characters that deserve kindness and treat assholes with hostility. That's about it.
my Bigby is real nice guy until he decided to bang Dee head with the bottle
I'm basically the "nice" Bigby. ._.
Pretty much the same as in the first post. Seemed the most natural to me
Same here, always try to be nice to everyone and lawful as can be, so far doesn't really seem to be any rewards for doing so, but who knows?maybe it pays of in the end.
Well, I'm not really hoping for a reward or anything, if anything, I think Bigby might be punished for being too nice(people won't be scared of him), I'm being nice because... Well, I just like being nice. Though I will say it was very tempting to torture Dee and smash Georgie's club. I think in future episodes Bigby's moral compass may waver for me...
I'm very nice to Snow, Toad and Woody. I didn't glass him. I punched Dee at alley. I tear off Gren's arm because of three reasons:
1-He called me as "Lap dog"
2-He called Snow as "Bitch"
3-He fucking tried to kill me
And I arrested the Dee, I hate him. And they attacked me, so I wanted to take revenge. And also I told Beast the truth.
Episode 2: I was very aggressive to Ichabod. I already defended Snow against him. This time I blamed him in car. And Dee, yeah I enjoyed to hurt that bastard. I was about to punch Crane but, you know rest of the story. After that I still be very nice to Snow and TJ. I punched Georgie, I destroyed everything I can with bat. I also hit him with bat too. I stole his money too, but I peid Nerissa 150$(Well, she deserved it). I wasn't surprised when I found the money I gave to Faith.
And, I didn't hit Beast again.
THAT'S MY BIGBY
My Bigby is trying to be respected rather than feared. Hope it will give me some allies later on.
Aside from Book of Fables entries/achievements (which I go back and undo anyway), my Bigby's trying to be a nice guy.
Trying, mind. Haven't gone feral yet, but we'll see.
So how did you treat Jack?
No bull shit Bigby. My Bigby is determined to get to the bottom of these murders and will do what ever is necessary to get information. He avoids violence if possible but if characters start talking in circles, things could get ugly fast.
I also play the calm Bigby, but I was SOOOO tempted to start breaking Georgie's strip club. Man that guy was a jerk but I held it together.
My Bigby considers violence a tool. He didn't mind roughing up Dee or others, but never lost control and mostly used violence to try to get information he wanted. He's empathetic towards the people he likes but coudln't give two shits on how he treats people he views as scum.
I don't think Bigby's changed much for me, yet. I try to play him as an overall decent guy, just with a short temper.
In episode one I didn't hurt anyone I wasn't forced to- I was patient with toad, and didn't even consider ripping Grendel's arm off.
In episode two I punched Dee once and took his money, but didn't burn him or brain him with the bottle, and I intervened when Bluebeard attacked. I also smashed a few thing in the Puddin' and Pie (The Cigarette machine and keg), again took some money (but not all) and beat up Georgie, but I tried my best to hurt Beast as little as possible.
I'm probably going to beat the shit out of Crane, though, if I get my hands on him. That may signal Bigby's sort of spiral into being generally more aggressive.
On one file, Bigby is nothing if not a fable making an earnest effort to leave behind his bloody, checkered origins for good, chain-smoking and wisecracking throughout.
O'er yonder, file farthest to the right, he's a bad motherfucker who slaps frogs, has an ax to grind and always keeps at least $58 on his person.
My Bigby is just a big Ol' Douche
My Bigby's the super-duper, kinda-nice, ultimate-sleuthing detective, as many people try to take the good guy route with characters on their first playthroughs anyway. Oh, and sometimes I choose the occasional smartass option too.
My Bigby is a pretty nice guy. The worst I've done is break Georgie's boom box and his TV, but when I was questioning him, I had a system damnit and he didn't want to work with me. I punched Dee in the gut at the beginning for being a smartass and making that "head" comment, and I stole his money, but that was evidence which DID help the investigation later on. Overall, I try to be nice, but my Bigby isn't afraid to get big and bad if someone's asking for it.
He's a bit of a smartass, too, but so am I.
I'm playing the nice, responsible cop the whole way. I haven't seen the comics, but I read all the Fables in the Extras section, and it mentions that Bigby really is trying to prove to people he has changed, and is not the "big bad wolf" anymore, so I want to help him with that. I didn't lay a finger on Dee, and I'm trying to talk and negotiate instead of fighting whenever I can.
Mine is a complete arse and everyone's trying to kill him. Though I did make sure he had some redemptive potential, you know, a hero complex of sorts. Hey, I'm a sucker for hard boiled pulp novel...and I'm playing it like one.
on my second play through of this game I'm going to make him be a completely cold, hard, no nonsense, tough bugger! But currently I'm being mostly 'nice' (hate that word.) with the occasional bad ass. I think being bad is going to be the best way to play.
Having finished Episode 3, my Bigby has taken a turn for the worse!!
The opening of the episode had him extremely pissed off, and rightly so, but when it came to the funeral, he was respectful enough to allow Snow to finish. Too bad after that happened, my Bigby's anger took over and he began to become violent at every chance he got, completely disobeying doctor's orders! I had him punch Jack in order to get the truth out of him in Crane's apartment, as well as turn him in to Snow when she came up. I stole the money Crane was embezzling because my Bigby hates everything about Crane, so "coming up short" was a nice way to stick it to him even if he didn't do the crime. I burned the tree at Aunty Greenleaf's place. I punched Georgie, mostly because I REALLY wish I did that in Episode 2. And then I killed Dum right in front of Snow!! My Bigby is right back to square one, just like Snow said he would be in the trailer for Episode 4!!
The only nice thing he did outside of letting Snow finish her eulogy was admit to Holly while she was completely out of it that he's doing the job to the best of his ability because he really does care about all the Fables, not just the ones in The Woodlands. It was an honest moment for my Bigby because it was one of the few quiet moments where his big heart over shadowed his hot head.
How about you guys? Any interesting changes in your Bigby?
He's doing better. He still makes mistakes often like a normal person would, but he tries his best to suppress his temper (which isn't an easy thing to do, realistically speaking; I'd know). When he went into animal rage-mode though, I felt that it's more appropriate for him to let loose and don't really care about the morality of doing what he did at the end of episode 3. Nevertheless, he did show restraint when talking to TJ. There's something about the innocence of kids that calm your tits down.
My Bigby is nice and gives everyone a chance, but only one. I was nice and didn't torture or steal from Dee during the interrogation. I hired the witch and saved her tree. Then I broke Crane's nose and ripped out Dum's throat. My Bigby is always nice to everyone but if you unleash his full wolf form then he shows no mercy.
I wanted to play as the Big Bad Wolf trying to redeem himself and being as nice as I want him to be. I let his anger slip from time to time when I think it's necessary.
I do what I need to do to get the job done. Sometimes that means talking sweetly to children. Sometimes that means smacking their father around in front of them. At the end of the day, I'm just trying to do my job.
My Bigby has taken a turn for the worse. He was a pretty nice guy in the previous two Episodes, but he's become darker now. Didn't interrupt Snow's eulogy, but when the Tweedles shoved their shotguns into his back I began threatening them instead of trying to do convince them to walk away like I would have in the previous Episodes. I offered Flycatcher the job and didn't burn Greenleaf's tree, so I was still trying to be good but by the time I'd reached Greenleaf's I had just about had it and was threatening her throughout the conversation. Upon entering Georgie's club, I immediately punched him in the face simply because I was tired of being jerked around. Finally, in the alley, I'd had enough of the Tweedles' crap and ripped Dum's throat out without a second thought. Actually, with barely even a first thought. Everything about this case appears to have gotten to my Bigby and pushed him over the edge. Currently waiting to do to Bloody Mary what I did to Dum, and I don't regret it in the slightest.
The Bigby that i've played so far was nice to everyone he came across. I had thought that he was evolving into a much better/different person! He didn't cause problems or fights when it was avoidable, and only wanted to get his job done. But in episode 3, i slipped up and killed a Tweedle brother on impulse... I guess he does enjoy it when things go wrong.
Total asshole in the first 20 mins of Episode 1, then spent some time with Snow and was still kind of an asshole, but Snow was making my Bigby soft.
Episode 2 - total fucking asshole, Bigby was furious about Snow and when Snow showed up he calmed down again and became a nice guy, in Episode 3 - didn't hit a single person, but Snow was kind of making me mad with the whole "i'm the boss, so listen to me fgt, k?"
My Bigby is someone who's legitimately trying to atone for his past. He takes his job as sheriff seriously and is always, always quick to come to the defense of the underdog; at the same time, he knows that he can't help anyone if he loses himself to his violent impulses. That said, he has absolutely no tolerance for bullies and sickos and will pound their faces in if they give him a valid excuse.
I played him completely straight throughout the first episode, but had him slip up more and more over the second and third ones In ep 2, he managed to keep his temper with Dee in check until the very end, when he smashed a bottle on his face. By episode 3, due to the constant stress coming in from all sides, he reached a breaking point. He devolved into his "punch first, ask later" policy that started with Jack and ended with breaking Crane's nose. And then when he went Big Bad, I just let him loose as a wild animal and had him tear Dum to pieces as though there wasn't a shred of rational thought to it.
Ep 4 will contain a lot of regret and guilt from the enjoyment of letting loose. He wasn't able to answer Snow's question earlier, because I felt that he did enjoy it when he got to hurt people--he was just trying his very best to channel it into a positive cause.
Good thread! I have two save files. One Bigby is a complete badass who punches first and asks questions later. He statrted out as the guy with the warning growl, now he's a complete loose cannon. He still has feelings for Snow but they're secondary to the task at hand. This Bigby is on the scent of rage and won't admit to himself that he's addicted to it.
The other Bigby is a nice guy. He tries to keep the peace but isn't afraid to step it up when the situation calls for it. His only downside is his weakness for Snow, the constant rejection is wearing hard on him but he refuses to give into his animalistic nature.
It's dumb to just go a specific extreme just to see what happens, annoying to see people do that. I'm patient with the people from the bar, trying to get them to like me, and generally aggressive otherwise. Tried being nice to Dee when interrogating him, but had no problem killing Dum after all that bullshit. Also good to Toad and his son.
I have multiple playthroughs with one Bigby being the meanest, most aggressive and most dim-witted, and another being more even-tempered. I don't have my Bigbys evolve because the story takes place over a period of days. People don't change all that much in such a short period of time.
In Episode 1, my Bigby was a calm and collected person who just want to do his job and put his past behind him. He was patient and generally nice to people. But that doesn't mean that he can show angry and punch Gren when he insulted Snow
In Episode 2, Bigby was pretty much shocked when he found Snow's head and he shows great impatient and frustration toward the mundy cops. When he was interrogating Dee, he pretty much uses violence to get his information. When Snow turned out to be alive, he resumed back being calm and patient. He was pretty much in control of himself when he fought Beast.
In Episode 3, Bigby has to deal with the temptation of his beastly side. His impatience is growing as the case and mystery begins to cause him stress. He still managed to remain calm and collected. Finally at the end of the episode, he turned into his werewolf form and brutally fought against the Tweedles. However, he proved that he was no beast and was in control by sparing Dum. He want to prove to the other fables that he was their protector and that he has truly changed, evident by his "talk" with a drunk and sleepy Holly.
