Does anyone really want monthly release over full game?

  • Thanks. I am still amazed at how TTG can release the games as fast as they do. My first game was a crappy 2D game coded in Unmanged C++ using SDL and I had to code a ton of classes just to do simple stuff like make the characters move and then to save the data into .xml format and even then it took me like 3 months to do and all it had was the basic stuff, no real plot just all the controls needed for an actual game. I was just using it for testing out my programming skills.

Nothing really impressive but it is a bit of work to even make crappy games so I have a lot of respect and admiration for game companies like TTG.

    Well said, sir

  • You wrote an essay on a viewpoint that shouldn't take more than 2-3 sentences to explain. That doesn't qualify as "clear", and it definitely isn't concise.

that is a funny image and yeah I know I type a lot but I made my point quite clear.

  • I made sure to be thorough in explaining as I hate leaving vague messages as anyone that actually takes the time to read will understand and it is clear to understand. I just didn't dumb it down to something like this: "It isn't possible to release games within 2 weeks end of story." I gave a thorough explanation as to why it cannot be done. You don't learn by vague answers you learn by thorough ones that give the reasons as to why something isn't going to happen. I never said you had to go reading my comments and I really don't care that your the person hitting the dislike button on all my comments just because you don't like that they are large.

  • Yeah I have dabbled in programming myself and I must say it takes a shit load of work to make such good quality games.

  • Guys, understand this.

Episodic release won't delay the full game by a huge amount, so if you dislike episodic release then just wait until all of the episodes are out. This way just gives you the OPTION to play it as it comes.

Personally, I love episodic release. As much as it pains me to wait I enjoy the speculation we get while waiting. It makes the release so much more satisfying, but five times! Not just one. :D

  • Yeah that is true it is good to see someone that agrees. I mean it is fun and all to make the games and see how they come out but it takes way too long to do and is a lot of work for one person to do and that is why people start development teams and game companies.

Yeah, it wouldn't be so bad if the wait between episodes was more reasonable. It's absurd to have to wait 2 months and STILL not know when you're getting the next installment. If they had set the dates ahead of time or gave us updates on the progress, I wouldn't care about waiting 2 weeks or even 2 months between releases. It's the not knowing that annoys me. I think it's unprofessional. When I pay for a magazine subscription, I KNOW when my next edition is coming. It part of the deal of paying for something in advance. Telltale likes to string us long and never throws us a bone. I love the game. They do an excellent job with it, but I don't think they have handled the release dates or PR stuff very well.

Sort of. I think what would be best is if telltale finishes the game first, then slowly releases an episode every two weeks. That way we still

Yeah I have a bad habit on ranting xD and on the fourth one it wasn't irrelevant to the guys comment that I replied to as that is one of the main reasons why game companies go under.

    Edit:

Also I made it a spoiler as it was only meant to be a reply to his message. So I didn't really intend on anyone else reading it and there is now rule saying I can't rant. I even marked my rant as off-topic.

Jeez. It's just an opinion. Obviously, they don't HAVE to do anything, but it would be nice if they had a consistent schedule. Newspapers, magazines, television shows have deadlines and they have to meet them. Episodic releases should be handled in a similar manner. While waiting doesn't bother me, not knowing when my purchase will be available kind of does. That's my issue. If they want to take on all these new games, they ought to get their ducks in a row and be a bit more professional.

Actually they don't need to do shit.

This whole post is unnecessary mullet this thread was made for clear answers like ryners now understand the delays and changed my stance and now sympathize with the company hate troll posts just like this moaning about grammar or don't like someones opinion

I would ask what part of my post justified a face palm, but I know your reply would be completely nonsensical and written in broken English.

  • The episodic dealio is a large part of TWD's charm. The wait makes it much, much more satisfying when it's good (though much, much worse when it's mediocre or gasp bad. Glares at the 2nd episode of season 1), and promotes discussion, which in turn, makes you think about the game more, AND, again again, makes you like it more or hate it more. It's a risk/reward system for telltale, but when the risk isn't literally having people burn down your company headquarters and castrate you for being months late on a release you said would take 4-6 weeks, like now, it's really shitty.

  • Woah dawg, S1 Ep2 is da best so far

  • It was the weakest in the season, by far. Not much character development, very slow movement, some pretty nonsensical decision making on Lee's part (Oh, dat blood filled back room we keep LOCKED AT ALL TIMES? Totes innocent, swear. Nothing hideously awful back there. And my brother is absolutely not a pedophile. Don't even worry about the crazy lady in the woods who he shot in the face. No biggie.), just not a good episode.

  • The last 20-30 minutes make up for all of that.

  • It would be better if it was every two weeks instead of ones a month that would be nice.

  • Of episode 5?

The last 20-30 minutes make up for all of that.

  • Then when that say it will be late we wouldn't have to wait very long instead of coming out ones a month and having to wait that much longer. So two weeks would be better lol

  • No, of episode 2

  • I doubt Lee believed Andy, I know if I were him I wouldn't confront Andy there, I'd want the others knowing before we made any moves against the St Johns. I like it because it does something not in most zombie games, and for being standalone. If I were to introduce anyoneto this game and I could only pick one ep, I'd show them Ep2. There was lots of character development the whole way

  • Only good part of that was the good ol' salt licking.

    No, of episode 2

  • I disagree. 3 had the most character development for the people who weren't Lee. And Kenny would have believed Lee, and in turn, Katjaa and Duck and Clem would have stood with Lee, which would have changed the rest of the group's mind, before they had the St. John's pointing guns at them.

  • Not that Ep2 is more character focused, just pointing out there is character development there. Kenny didn't even bother listening to Lee when Lee warned everyone. The most suspicious guy there actually tells Lee to explain first, instead of reacting instantly like he should've if he was the guy drawing Lee's attention to the barn which seemed odd for Kenny
