The Walking Dead episode length?

edited February 2014 in The Walking Dead

How feel about length of each episode and price?

I think for the price and the quality of each episodes the length is good

Made this after buying burial at sea dlc and left behind dlc both for 15 euro and lasted a hour never moan about walking dead length again

Comments

  • Burial at Sea is Infinite right?

    Left Behind is TLOU right?

Just curious about those two things. Also I think for the price the length is amazing. Compared to any other game (mostly) you actually get more time out of the story for less money. Replayability is fantastic, at least for season one (season two I can't judge yet but I'm guessing it will be the same way). Plus the quality of the game overall...

Exactly and my sister who is not a gamer she played walking dead s1 on my vita and loved it. Gamer or not its accessible to anyone who loves good story which is rare. As for bioshock infinite and Last of us dlc correct is an hour with no replayability. I was expecting answers of but huge titles cost more to make so dlc expensive but for me rather buy and play crash bandicoot ps1 classic then 60 euro Cod game for me fancy explosions and meaningless killing not enough without story

  • Never put to much thought into it that way, I guess this game is really for anyone who likes a good story and not just gamers. That's pretty cool!

I actually want to pick up some old games and game consoles, Ratchet and Clank, Mario games, Tankz, Crash, all games I really miss.

So TLOU DLC is out? I need to go play it asap!

  • Length tends to vary. In Season 1, Episode 2 seemed the shortest to me and Episode 4 seemed almost twice as long as all the others. I just see them in chapters, but the play time is very good for the price.

  • Actually the shortest was episode 5, acording to some site I read lasting between 1h 30m to 1h 40m and I think the longest was the longest form season 1, lasting more or less 2h 45m. ANyway I htink the playable is good for what you pay per episode: I see the game as kind off a book divided by chapters and obviously there will be bigger chapter than others, as long as the story is good ;)

And I agree with VIva_La-Lee, I don't consider myself a gamer (In the space of 1 year I only played walking dead, Portal and Far Cry 3, and the last two because I hadn't money for the gym and to go to the casino for 6 months becaus of stupid government cutting money from my scholarship, but I'm getting off topic :P), and I enjoy Walking dead very much, is one of the best games I've played yet and has an awesome story. Even 400 days that I consider the weakest episode so far was really good.

  • N64 was the console of my youth. It started my gaming and it was the pinnacle of my gaming happiness.

  • Episode 1 roughly 100 mins for me
Episode 2 roughly 120 mins for me
Episode 3 roughly 140 mins for me
Episode 4 roughly 150 mins for me
Episode 5 roughly 75 mins for me
400 Days roughly 75 mins for me
Season 2 Ep 1 roughly 60 mins for me

  • The last of us dlc is good but 15 euro for 1 hour game play with mostly cutscenes and not much combat for me overpriced and I got original game for 30 euro pre-owned with 18 hours gameplay best decision ever made in gaming

  • I loved the full gane. I'll probably watch the DLC on YouTube since DLC's are always so ridiculously overpriced. I like the snippits of story they throw in but the money per time equation doesn't come out to good numbers...

Mixed looked a bit around but probably missed few spots say closer to hour and half but game is mostly cutscenes and dialogue between characters good dlc but 15 euro for hour maybe just bit much for me

  • Recommend it and maybe purchase if your impressed not saying bad dlc but 15 for a hour no thanks

  • Episode 1 : 95 minutes. Pretty solid time, When you know it at the top of your head you can do it in about 75 minutes.
Episode 2: 120 minutes: Actually some good time in it, needed to be a bit longer to get the story going.
Episode 3: 110 minutes: The train part seems to go on for a while but besides that, it's pretty quick.
Episode 4: 140 minutes: Longest episode by far.
Episode 5: 75 minutes: Short, but couldn't really expand the time when everything was pretty much done.
400 days 75 minutes: Pretty quick like Episode 5, could've been a bit longer.
Season 2 Episode 1: 90: Like Episode 1 of Season 1 a good opener and good time length.

  • ep 1 of s2 seemed shortest to me,it might of been the way it started off fast,i dunno,e3 of s1 seemed longest and the best.

  • Yeah, season 2 episode 1 is the shortest by far. I finished it in 1 hour and 25-30 mins. Episodes 3 and 4 of season 1 were the longest, being over 2 and a half hours. I hope episode 2 this season is longer than an hour and a half. I heard that TWAU episode 2 of season 2 was short too.

  • Super Nintendo was pretty damn fun too. I got that when I was a bit older, had a lot of good times with it.

I still remember my favorite game from that console... Kirby!

  • Yeah TWAU ep 2 took me 78 mins to complete. And I even had a few pauses while timing it.

That's very disappointing, imo. I like playing lengthy games. Hopefully the next episodes of TWD exceed 100 mins.

  • 'Yet'? You still have your super nintendo?? Lucky!

You should most definitely get it, I for one had a blast.

  • Haha. You know the cord with the screw at the end that plugs into the TV for visuals, I broke the tiny metal piece in the middle off of that. I remember it like it was yesterday :(

I spent days trying to get that thing working right....

  • Thanks again for the video. I prefer the gameplays without commentary so this was perfect. If you would have linked PewDiePie I would have lost a little faith in you. :p

This may be the wrong forum, but what did you think about the DLC? Aside from length and price which we already discussed :)

Very fun think you will buy it after watching the video like innovation like water fights, throwing bricks at cars etc tell they really want tell story without much combat in this dlc like joel/ellie relationship more not sure if just me but think rileys gay but not sure nice story though lol

  • THis next episode must be longset since you will have to deal with the Nick/Pte situation, then go home, be alone with Sarah and deal with that guy's appearing situation, talk to the group about it, make the decision, than leave the house, make the walk too the moutains, meet with the " I thought you were dead" guy and problebly the game will not end up there because Telltale would never show the all episode ;)

  • I will probably buy it. As a big fan of the game I doubt I can resist the urge to have it all, even if I don't play it more than once or twice. I also couldn't read one or two of the notes picked up and I want to see the results for the multi-choice options.

They were definitely just telling story, and I was completely ok with that. To be honest while I did enjoy the combat in the full game it was hardly a factor of why I enjoyed the game so much overall.

They didn't focus too much on Joel and Ellie, but I'm glad they made it a flashback-ish DLC instead of a prequel DLC. I thought it was really cool to see Ellie trying to care for Joel while having those dark memories flood her head.

I loved the kiss between Ellie and Riley, it was so cute! If either of them is homosexual it would be Ellie moreso, after all she did initiate the kiss. I don't believe either of them are gay though, most everyone goes through a phase like that. I see them as close friends who love each other very deeply.

Only thing I wish was different about the DLC is I wish they would have tapped into the actual changing of Riley infront of Ellie's eyes instead of leaving them after they both got bitten. That would have been a heartbreaking and awe inspiring scene/scenes.

  • My NES system is still working too (you know the one before the Super Nintendo). It is fun to play on a 42" screen, while you are sitting at most 1,5m away because the cable is so short and watching in 256×240 Pixel resolution => eye cancer
Most fun is ice climber with two players.

They truely did miss a great opporunity as you said. Really would have loved to see them go crazy together, well one have to watch the other go crazy and then have to kill her :(

  • I found the length of TWD to be fine. I certainly never felt ripped off. I'm playing on iPad & so was hooked by the free 1st episode. I bought the season 1 with 400 Days bundle then the season 2 pass. I'm not sure how the price I paid compares with other platforms.

The reason I got into TWD so late was actually because of the way it was priced. When I saw a license tie-in that was free with paid DLC I automatically just thought "piece of crap" and ignored it.

I've just played through TWAU and while I enjoyed it & thought the quality was very high I was a little disappointed with the length of the episodes.

  • Took me 3 hours to completely search every part of it playing on survivor. It's totally worth it though if you liked the main game.

Was it really only 1 hour, or did you rush through it?

  • I know I got through Episode 2 in less than an hour. What episode did you say was 2h and 45 min? I think there was a typo in your post. I agree with your assessment of the series that each episode is like a chapter.
