I don't agree with most of your statements. But I am just going to call out one thing you brought up... if it was optional most everyone would pursue it. Everyone likes to see Clem happy.
What does that have to do with me not having to RP a love interest? It was fine in Left Behind because Ellie was the one with the crush, and … morethe player had nothing to do with it. If Clementine were put in the same situation, the player would be required to advance it (or at least take part in it). Unless it was optional, then almost no one would pursue it.
I don't care if she has a crush on Luke or something. I just don't want a LI, period.
Me not wanting a LI =/= Me hating character depth
Whats wrong with the scene? I think its fine, is Ellie not supposed to like other characters or even more important is she not allowed or supposed to have feelings for Riley in the last of us? Bullshit... If anything it has made her character better.
Especially in action movies. When im watching an action movie im watching it for the violence not for the horrible oh yeah there's a girl in this story and umm yeah sure why not they fall in love story. Big deal she has big tits, That doesn't mean she needs to take up 30 minutes of the movie with a side story that goes no where except maybe having her get kidnapped.
But I say NO! No man especially one with amazing special detective main character immune to getting shot my minor characters powers is going to risk his life for some girl he just barely met. I call bullshit! Are we just supposed to forget that they just met because they had one romantic moment where they momentarily clicked with each other?
Well, most of my statements are meant to only pertain to me, so that makes sense.
As much as I would like to see her happy, I can't think of a situation in which the traditional ME-Style LI would be appropriate for this game. As I said, a simple crush with no player interaction wouldn't bother me at all. If I am required to flirt with a preteen boy or girl... yeah, I don't want that at all. The term "love interest" probably means something different to you than it does to me.
Well, if they can manage it without having the dialogue devolve into complete cheese, I probably wouldn't care. I loved the Ellie/Riley relationship in Left Behind, but it took place via predetermined dialogue and cutscenes. It also didn't last long enough to outstay its welcome.
I don't agree with most of your statements. But I am just going to call out one thing you brought up... if it was optional most everyone would pursue it. Everyone likes to see Clem happy.
It is the walking dead. Don't expect anything but the worst. Doesn't mean love or meaningful feelings just up and vanish. In fact bonds often become much stronger because of the chances of making it until tomorrow are pretty damn low. Take Christa and Odim for example.
Your Clem can be manipulative, the crush should definitely be optional
Yeah but its the walking dead. Love interests/relationships just end up with that person dead.
That or we end up playing as Clems boytoy/boyfriend in season 3. My clems one manipulative bitch and I love her that way
That's why im against it. I was an ass too carley but she just wouldn't leave me alone. I was an ass to whats his name in Bonnies story but he wouldn't leave me alone. Mainly as a guy the last thing I wanted to do was flirt with a creepy old man and add that to the point that he's married, just no. I don't want to go through this with Clementine. I was an ass to sarah too just in case Telltale tried making Clem a lesbo. I don't want a video game relationship.
But if its optional I wont mind. Otherwise whats the point in dialogue choices? Being forced into a relationship feels a little rapey.

Though if I can manipulate Clems "love interests" to work for my advantage and still treat him like shit that might be how my canon Clem roles XD
My canon Lee was an asshole with a soft side so im trying to make my canon Clem follow in his footsteps. She already loves saying the word shit so that's a good start

Clem's group ties in with the bandit group we see in the EP2 trailer. There is a boy there, say 12 or so years old, and Clem catches his attention. A 'duck like' situation plays out for an episode or two were in Clem and him do stupid antics with each other. Go on a little walk, shooting range time, simple conversations with your choice of cute dialogue a crushing kid may say or a harsher choice with survivalist undertones in which they only speak about what their plans are and how they are going to get things done. At the end of one of those conversations he pecks her on the cheek. She turns rosey red, and perhaps you get a choice... frown and tromp off or smile and walk away. After that perhaps you only have a scene or two with this character (before something goes wrong, and it will), you can choose nice dialogue choices or play the 'not interested' card.
That is a simple way I see where they could make the interaction seem beyond your control, like with Ellie in TLOU, and still maintain the choice system TWD (TTG) is known for. You don't feel you have flirted with a kid and Clementine still has the option for a slight LI for the rest of the people who want to see Clem happy. I just came up with this off the top of my head, hope the above situation complies with the restrictions you have set
Also, I loved the Left Behind DLC and the kiss was a huge factor in that. That scene was perfect!
Well, most of my statements are meant to only pertain to me, so that makes sense.

Nothing about that scenario really bothers me, but that is because there isn't any dialogue for me to cringe at. However, I can easily see Telltale forcing all players down that path, only to give a choice at the very end. What if I don't want anything to do with the character? I will still probably end up doing these things with him/her against my will.
Also, that isn't really a love interest, just a crush. The moment I saw "love interest", I immediately thought Mass Effect. Talking about feelings, bickering, etc. As long as the interaction between the two characters is less like the TV show and more like Left Behind, I am fine with it. It should feel like dialogue between friends rather than between girlfriend/boyfriend.
I'm suggesting a situation much like Left Behind.

Personal experience my friend. Personal experience.
I have a hard time relating to people age cause a lot of times with people my age I feel like im dumbing myself down to their level, and when im not the smart one I end up being the dumbass. So im stuck between dumbasses and geniuses. Guess im just gonna have to wait 10 years so the dumb ones can catch up to my state of slightly above average intelligence.
Also a lot of what Im saying is just hostile sarcasm that comes from a dark place. Plus I have had serious fml luck with the few girls I have "fallen" for.
Still laughing at your comment though haha. and in a way you're right lol.

Yeah im just looking for people that aren't afraid to be themselves. I cant even stand to be around my friends these days cause it seems like everybody my age is just a follower lately. I cant even speak my mind in a group setting around them cause its like they have to all agree with whatevers the popular idea around them is at the time though I know some of them don't actually agree with what they are defending just from having one on one discussions with them. I get along so much better with people in their late 20's and older just because they have something more meaningful to tell me when im looking for advice other than "Damn man, that sucks."
Thanks for the words of encouragement, and love the phrasing "odd man out". That's indeed the story of my life as well.
Tired and getting lazy so I apologize if a lot of that didn't make sense lol
Always the odd man out? That's a good thing. Eventually you find more 'odd' people and it makes them all that much more special
Trust me. Story of my life
I don't think they will make a forced relationship akin to the Carley situation again (aside from a slightly forced momentary situation like the kiss I exampled earlier), they got a lot of bad reaction from that. Just because you don't like a character doesn't mean you can simply avoid them, like trying to avoid Larry, it goes against the very nature of the story itself. You have to do things you don't want to do, often with people you don't want to do them with (again Larry comes to mind, but many people disliked Lilly and Duck, also the St Johns etc etc). Just because you don't like a character doesn't mean they can remove them for the sake of your liking.
Dialogue should be the least of your worries. Telltale shows again and again and again that they know what they're doing when it comes to interesting conversation. They can take a completely overused and reworked principal and seemlessly draw people into a conversation they have heard hundreds of times before. If you are looking to avoid cliche and cheesy lines I wouldn't worry too much, though I must say I wouldn't mind a few corny lines that would make me giggle.
That explains it. A crush falls under the category of a love interest from a narrative perspective. As I said on the first page anything more than a strong like would be too much. Just an awkward first kiss, holding hands perhaps, would make for interesting dialogue choices with the 'guardian' character later on also, imo.
Any other interesting topics you care to talk about? I'm in a discussion mood

I personally wouldn't want her to, but I wouldn't object to it if they were to add some kid her age like Duck. Except maybe a different personality-though they were really young then. I think she's a teen now( or preteen)? Either way, I wouldn't want to see too much lovey dovey stuff because IMO she's a bit young to have a boyfriend. But that's a personal opinion.
Maybe; 10 nearing 11 isn't too young for children to develop crushes. Not saying it couldn't be annoying and cringeworthy, but if the game found a way to acknowledge it it might work. I think it becoming a big story element would be a mistake though. I don't see Clem at that point yet where she can really open up and trust someone like that though. Not yet.
The Ellie kiss from Left Behind brings up a good point though. I'd like to see Clem get something hopeful, nice, or normal to hold on to (metaphorically). In season 1, Clem was that character for Lee, the one person I as the player could interact with when I needed a morale or happy hopeful boost. Kenny and Lilly are arguing again? I'll ask Clem about her leaf rubbing. Carley/Doug was just murdered? Ease that pain a bit by telling Clem a funny story about Lee's mom and her prank.
Crush, existing group member (Sarah?), future group member...as long as it's not overdone since this is TWD after all, something along these lines would be nice.
I have no problem with characters being gay. Hell, Bill was gay and I thought he was awesome. I just thought his sexuality being a mystery was a pretty interesting aspect to his tough, macho personality. I liked how they didn't make it so blatantly obvious. His relationship to Frank gives you hints and teases and really makes you think, "Is he actually gay?" Then we find out he is when Bill leaves, never to be seen again and Ellie's revealed to have taken his gay magazine. I thought it was really clever how they executed that.
They could've done the same with Ellie. Make her relationship to Riley a mystery. From what they showed, all I saw was two best friends making the last of their time together. If she did have feelings for Riley fine, but if you do nothing to hint this and have the two just kiss right out of nowhere, it just ruins the mystery. Maybe a long, tear-jerking hug would have been a better alternative. You'd would get a lot more invested into Ellie's friendship with Riley and it adds more hints to her possible homosexuality.
I don't mean to hate on the idea of Ellie being gay. I just think they could have played this out a lot better.
Two zombie/infected games centering around a father/daughter relationship where neither of the two characters are related by blood. Travelling across an apocalyptic landscape, dealing with bandit and undead alike? I'm honestly surprised these two games aren't compared more often.
I mean, I haven't played Last of Us; don't even own a PS3. But past reviews for TWD mention LoU often enough.
What if Sarah develops crush on Clem, I could totally believe that. Sarah is weak and infantile, Clem on the other hand is strong and almost adult. For players, love between two teenage girls would be a much less awkward than some lolitaesque relationship.

Who gives a shit? It's not like he's writing a masters dissertation. Could one of you please explain the psychology of someone who feels a need to correct tiny grammatical errors?
As someone who had been guilty of this for a very long time himself, I feel obliged to tell you this:
(If you have the QWERTZ keyboard, dun… moreno how it is with other ones) There is a key right next to the "ä" key, under the "+" key and above the right shift key. That is the "#" key. Press shift and that key to create a '
THIS is the right thing to type if you want to indicate a missing letter. Not the version next to the "?" key. That thing is for putting accents over vovels. Or something like that. Dunno, it's some French shit.
Fuck this -> `
use this -> '
Don't worry, bro, you were not the only one who never knew for a long time. I was embarrassed of myself, too.
Depends on your idea of love.
Someone who she has very strong feelings for and wants to have sexual relations with? No.
I wouldn't mind … moreseeing a puppy love interest develope though, someone she cares for deeply not because she views them as a guardian or anything, but because she likes who they are. An awkward first kiss and holding hands. Anything more than a strong like would be too much imo.
TLOU Left Behind comes to mind...
EDIT: I shouldn't have to, but with some people on this forum I feel I must stress the obvious must be her age situation.
As a single person I hate how.....
EVERY MOTHER FUCKING SHOW HAS TO HAVE A GAHDAMN LOVE STORY
I look at telltales twd game as more of an… more interactive tv show than I do a game and was glad to not have any romantic kissy kissy bullshit since every other show, tv, and hell even video games nowadays. It was refreshing to be able to play this game and not have think "Fuck im going to die alone, thanks for throwing that in my face." And before you start throwing in the oh he's just mad cause he's a loser at me. NO! I choose to be single these days cause every girl my age is more interested in her dumbass smartphone to actually have a meaningful conversation with. Same reason I kind of quit hanging with my friends. I just hate my age group. And I don't want to date anybody older than me, and if I date younger id be a pedo so not having any of that.
My thoughts exactly. Wait till she's Ellie's age at least.
I mean what the hell people, anyone who wants to see an 11 year old in a relationship has wiring issues.
Spare Clem I know you didn't mean it that way, but even so, I'm not personally the sort of person who finds kiddy crushes cute.
I have no problem with increased player option as long as it's not forced on us.
I have problem with being forced to RP a shortpants romance.
Yes. Well, more specifically the kiss in general.

All of you are guys and you're all acting like you know EVERYTHING that goes on in a female tween's head. Guess what guys, you don't so shut up and stop acting like you do. Girls are ALWAYS thinking about love, Clem probably more so, she's desperate to find something that will give her warmth and happiness, even if that's just for a short period of time.

Maybe a kid her own age, but I'm still not sure it would fit the setting
Why would something that small bother you so badly dude?
In through the nose
Out through the mouth
There
Feel better?
Who gives a shit? It's not like he's writing a masters dissertation. Could one of you please explain the psychology of someone who feels a need to correct tiny grammatical errors?
Is it an OCD thing?
Not taking the piss, genuinely interested.
Ellie's like fifteen though. Clem's what 11? I don't want to see an 11 year old in a relationship.
Maybe in if she lived in Yemen.....
No.
Just no.
One word dude
Prostitutes
Peace
If you are a troll, I applaud you.
If not, I feel uneasy that you may live near a school.....
Now fuck off, Humbert
I know right? Comic Carl is a fucking beast.
The show really fucked up on that one, he should be way more savvy than he is by now.
Without doubt, Shakespeares worst play.
Shakespeas?
Also, it's still wrong after edit. It's Shakespeare.
Anyways, I definitely agree with you. I thought Macbeth was pretty lame as well. Julius Caesar and Hamlet were probably my favorites.
The closer we get to the apocalypse, the less the boundaries matter....
Exactly my point against it.
Awkward teenage romances?
Ugghhh.
I remember being 14. It might feel terribly important to the two with the crush but to onlookers it's vomit inducing.
Well, I hope they sued you for malpractice.
School Bell Rings
English Class is over
So what your saying is...you don't mind that Ellie is gay, as long as it's kept a secret?
All of you are guys and you're all acting like you know EVERYTHING that goes on in a female tween's head. Guess what guys, you don't so shut up and stop acting like you do. Girls are ALWAYS thinking about love, Clem probably more so, she's desperate to find something that will give her warmth and happiness, even if that's just for a short period of time.
