How Could You Keep A Baby Safe?
Can you keep a baby safe on the run? Seems to me you'd need to find somewhere pretty secure fast.
What about baby food? Anyone know the expiration date for it?
It's in glass jars so I'm presuming pretty long.

It can work when you have a settlement like the prison they had in the TV series. On the open road i don´t think its duable.
Letting someone else but me take care of it. That's the best way for me to keep that thing alive. I am sure if my carelessness won't killt it, my annoyance over it will eventually do the trick.

They don't have to eat baby food, in fact they don't start eating that sort of thing until 4-6 months old. Before that it's nothing but milk. If the mother was present & getting enough to eat the baby would be getting milk from her. Otherwise powdered baby milk keeps for a hell of a long time so if you could get hold of some you could keep it alive. From around 6 months on it can eat reasonably normal food – mashed up but basically nothing special. The biggest problem would be hygiene – how do you sterilize bottles? What do you do if the baby gets sick? Since walkers are attracted by sound if the baby cries at the wrong time you'd be pretty screwed.

Have a designated caretaker in case we run into trouble (ie. the mother), keep a lot of formula and antibiotics handy, and find a safe and non-terrifying place to settle.

That scene was really really wrong. If the baby died like that I would have thrown the TV out the window (only because I watch it at a friend's house).
I doubt if Lizzy could have dragged the bodies out there without help. But that's an interesting theory...

Doesn't a mother breastfeed for the first several month/first year or so? Then you wouldn't really need to worry about food that much. Plus, you don't need physical baby food; baby food is basically a mush of.... stuff. You just need to find an alternative. How do you think people had babies BEFORE baby food? So it wouldn't be that hard, you would just need to keep it quite when traveling in dense areas where walkers can hide.
