i think a crush will be okay.
A romance is too much. Otherwise clem have to grow up very fast. She act's now like a grown women instead of a young girl. So maybe she can have faster some love interest's.
But on the other side...i think she has other thinks on her mind than love...like dont get EAT FROM THAT FUCKING ZOMBIE!!!
Haha sounds like you're in the exact same position I was in when I got out of HS. The hardest part is finding out what you want to do. After that, if you put the time and focus in, things sort of have a way of piecing themselves together.
I graduated 3 years ago and I quickly went from the immature kid I used to be to the person that doesn't recognize that kid any more that I am… more today. Probably why I feel like a stranger to my friends lately. Though I did fall off track in my life there for a little bit. I basically hit a reset button on my life just a few months ago and hit a point where I don't know where to go from here. But I know one thing, when I figure out what im supposed to do with myself there isn't a person, place, or thing that's gonna stop me.
You've oddly enough gave me better advice and motivation than the people in my life that should be telling me these things.

What a brilliant idea!
I wouldn't want that even if Clem was 30yo! In fact I don't want anyone having a crush on anyone.
Isn't it enough that we have to watch a love interest subplot in EVERYTHING regardless of the plot of the movie?
Hell, I guess seeing how most movies suck nowadays such a subplot could be needed because they don't have
an interesting story to begin with. They need to fill that time with something, or have something for the ladies. Here's
Jason Bourne, a spy in an action packed film. Let's hook him up with some girl! WHY?
WHY the hell would you want such a useless thing in this game where they DO have a story?
We're getting 5 episodes total, 1 episode per 2 months, and each one lasts so little, and you want that
precious time to be about romance? In a zombie apocalypse world. In a game. Sure, let's waste 1 episode (or more)
worth of dialogue and events on that!
First of all romantic subplots (or just plots) have been in the majority of movies/games/books/etc from... well how far do you want to go back in human history exactly? Most every good story you can name will have a romantic undertone at the very least. (Now, of course, you will list all 10 that don't and think that denounces the thousands of others that do fall into that classification.)
The story of TWD is based on realism, love interests are real are they not? So the fact you say we don't need them in this type of ZA story is fairly groundless.
You bring up the Bourne movies, a "spy in an action packed film," cough James Bond... 007... the original bad ass spy. His stories always (that I know of) have romantic elements to them. While some may agrue the new Bond movies are boring, repetative, whatever, it is hard to argue the same for the first movies. They are classics and Bond is a household name. All of this in spite of having... gasp ... romance!!
While I have seen good movies fall to tragedy in chase of a love story (The Host) I don't think TTG would be so careless as to have the LI take front seat in the story.
What a brilliant idea!

About the kiss showing more effect than a hug; you saying I should kiss my best friend instead of hugging them to show more affection? Haha just kidding (it'd be kinda weird though). I only say hugging is the better way to establish a powerful friendship because I'll be completely honest with you. I don't know any of my friends (or anyone for that matter) who kiss on the lips as a sign of a strong friendship.
Not everyone does that. If what you said about the kiss being between two friends who care deeply about each other to be true, then that's gotta be the first time I've seen this kind of affection in anything, being real-life or the media. At least hugs are more relatable in terms of friendship.
Ok seriously, we need to stop talking about this game on this forum. Spoiling A LOT of details right now.
I'd have to completely disagree. It worked well with Bill, it was a funny reveal and was great comedic relief. Ellie and Riley wasn't supposed… more to be funny. A hug doesn't have nearly the same effect as a kiss. Why would we be more invested in their relationship exactly?
Personally I don't even see this kiss as showing Ellie as homosexual. I see it as two friends who care very deeply for each other. We all go through a phases. That is the only ambiguity they should have left for us.
You don't kiss your friends because it shows stronger emotional ties than a hug. And that is the reason it would be weird for you. Riley and Ellie were obviously past the regular bonds of a good friendship. Simply growing up and surviving in the ZA together would probably have a huge impact on that, let alone everything else they went through. Even if the situation is as you imply and they are more than just very close friends... what exactly is wrong with that??
We have only spoiled one thing, and it was spoiled long before this conversation.
No no. I didn't expect it to be funny either.

Wow, agreed. I'm surprised (...but not really) that so many people agree with the idea. Secondly, how nice it is to have a female protagonist--especially of color--who doesn't have a love interest. Am I the only one who enjoys that?
There is nothing wrong with that. It's the fact that, again Ellie having a romantic interest in Riley is never mentioned throughout the chapter! At all!!
I saw them having a big sister/little sister relationship from the beginning. The talked like friends, they played together like friends, and they argued like friends.
Then after they kiss, it's never mentioned again. After finding out they were both bit, Riley doesn't say anything about it. Again, they just share the same dialogue you'd hear between two friends. Yeah sure, finding out you're about to die seems to be a top priority compared to, "OMG! You kissed me! How long have you been feeling this way?!" But Riley risked her skin to be with Ellie. I just figured in their last moments, they could've talked about it at least?
Whether or not you think a kiss is a sign of two people who care about each other and nothing else, a lot of people still consider it as a sign of romantic/sexual affection between them.
This is why I thought Ellie kissing Riley was completely pointless. It came out of nowhere and it led to nothing. But I really enjoyed Left Behind.

I agree with you Viva I don't know why people are assuming that just because she kissed her friend she is a lesbian, Hell I've seen this in real life two girls who I know for a fact aren't gay just giving each other a friendly kiss, If it was two guys than thats different but there thousands of things Girls can do and guys can't

Why? So I can either hate the character or grow to like him just to get all sad when he dies? No, thanks.
Sidenote: I'm Team Liked the Ellie/Riley Crush. It was heartwarming and then super heartbreaking.
I think if there was a love interest for Luke, Nick, or someone older than 11 that it would make sense, but I can't really see Clem as a cutesy crush kind of person at this point. It might happen, no one knows for sure, but I just don't see it for Clem. Also, it's not like the game didn't already have romantic subplots. Lee and Carley, Larry and Brenda, Christa and Omid were all fine. For Clem it would just be strange I think, but since it's Telltale they could probably make it decent.

All personal prefences now. All I'm saying is the positions you brought forward in your first post were fairly illogical and statistically wrong. Personally, as I have posted previously in this thread, I would like to see a little crush develope between Clem and someone her age. A first kiss, holding hands, all the stupid things that come with a 'first' LI. All (or mostly all) completely optional. For those who want to see Clem happy for a brief period of time can choose one set of option(s) and for those who want to keep her detached and/or survivalistic there would be other option(s). I wouldn't want another forced LI like the Carley situation in S1.

That's just it. The kiss was spontainious, it wasn't planned or thought out. It was a perfect accident. That's what made it so real. You mentioned Bill and how his reveal was after they had left him to his own devices, well this was the reveal for Ellie. If it had been built up and played out it would have felt flat, boring, expected, perhaps even trivial.
There is no logical reason they should have left the ending (or Ellie's feelings moreso) ambiguous as you suggested unless you didn't want to see it, which is why I called you out on being anti-homosexuality. Sorry if I missed my mark.
In regards to your legitimate argument, which would be you thought it happened to fast (which again was done on purpose) and led to nothing. We didn't see it lead to nothing. It takes hours for a person to turn. They had hours to talk, and cry, and hug and say good bye. As I said to Markd#### in another thread I think they missed a real opportunity when they black screened. Watching Ellie watch Riley lose herself, after just sharing such a deeply impactful moment together would have been riveting and beautiful. I am extremely sad they didn't do the entire situation with Riley until the end, but that doesn't negate the rest of the story. If you are upset about it not going somewhere then your qaurrel should be with the abcense of the entirety of the story, not with the kiss itself.
I just woke from a near coma (lol), so I hope all of the above makes sense.

Yeah if I'm writing something for work, or a dissertation or anything professional, I'll take my time, never really been concerned with message board grammar, even if it means I'm a lazy dullard
It's not that I was annoyed by it perse. I just remembered how I used to do the same mistake when I was younger. No one ever told me what I wa… mores doing wrong until I eventually found out by myself. Words cannot describe how stupid I felt, so I wanted to save this guy the embarrassment. He should not relive the same pain I had had to go through, lol.
I guess not, but kids at 14 are probably dating already, at least we were back in the day. Never really thought about girls at 11 though.
Like I said, if it's choice based, go for it more options are never bad and we don't all play the same way, or hve the same expectations and likes/dislikes.
Variety = Life - but I don't want to be shoehorned into it.

I'm a little surprised this thread hasn't been locked down yet. Talking about a possible love interest for a ten/eleven-year-old-girl is awfully icky.

Yes, yes.... I are awesome. I know.
Thanks Viva. Im still trying to figure out who I even am. But hey things can only get better at this point so I might as well stay positive
Thanks to me! Pander1... the saviour of the forums and guardian of grammar!

Not every protagonist needs a love interest.
Not really. He's pretty sane at the point I'm at in the comic. More than Rick. He's so fucking badass.
"What do you hear?"
"Just like you. Nothing. Stop imagining!"
(Paraphrasing my favorite Carl moment)
Man, if Carl dies, I'm just going to feel depressed. I love the kid. He's the most sane one of his group.

I can see it meaning either really. The more I think about it the more nuetral I see it actually.
I can see it as the beginning of a real relationship between Ellie and Riley (that never had the chance to happen).
Or I can see it as the beginning of a 'remember that time when we' story between Ellie and Riley.
I guess not knowing just adds more interest to the story

Expensive Prostitutes
How many chidren did Eduard Khil have?? :0
The Epic of Gilgamesh had a love interest.
Hmmm
Consider it an investment in the future
wait wha?? Haha I think I know what you mean but I don't lmao
:-{0
Well if I was to invest in an expensive prostitute she sure as hell better not have a mustache.
Da tickles are da best part...
Oh lord.
Lmao not to judge but this guy don't swing that way XD
I ask my hookers to put on a Mario mustache.
Well you know, who else can resist Marios mustache other than Princess Peach?
Bowser.
Well why do you think he always picks fights with Mario? He's flirting.

We should all be more like Mario.
He is an Italian plumber-
Who speaks english-
Made by the Japanese-
Looks like a Mexican-
Runs like a Jamacian-
Jumps like a black man-
And grabs coins like a Jew.
The ultimate anti-racism character!
