I think mostly that people would be upset because it feels like an obvious thing with that huge cliffhanger. Imagine if it turns out like this though: "I thought you were dead" is just the guy at the riverbank with the water choice (haven't looked up his name) and then they leave us with another cliffhanger for episode 3 which gives us yet another off screen of the character and Clementine would say: How did you escape? And this time it's Christa. Are you ready to get tr1ck3d by master trole TTG?

Agreed, they are taking it too far but if it is not an important character from season 1 i will seriously flip shit. If it's christa i will not enjoy the episode 1 bit.
