Do you think Season 2 has the chance to better Season 1?

I know it's early days, but I was interested to see if people think S2 can better Season 1? Movie sequels rarely better the original as it's always hard to better the original of something but do you think S2 can pull it off?
Personally I don't think it can. I think S1 was the perfect game and I think although S2's first episode was a standout, It doesn't have that excitement yet that I felt when playing S1. But, it's still early days so anything can happen.
Also, I've seen since Episode 1 was released that people have been complaining about the episode, Do you guys think this could a next instalment that bombs or do you think it will succeed ?

So far i liked S2E1 more than S1E1. So i think it does have a chance to be better in the overall content and plot but i don't know how they're going to pull off a perfect ending like season 1's
I think Telltale are capable of making this season even better. It will be difficult to top season 1 though, as it was an emotional rollercoaster.
S2 it will be better,so far i am impressed,Clementine alone in the wild meeting a group of strangers that she hopes to trust, more action, walker ,damn i need episode 2 already.
As long as I don't have to wait any longer.
Suspense killing you?
I think this season has the potential to be better than s1. So lets hope they don't screw it up.
I miss the old point n click games where you sat down and knew you were in for an epic adventure in a world you could stay lost in for days. TWD is more of a" wham bam thank you mam" affair. When was the last time I was stuck on a puzzle? Oh geez, should I say "hrmph" or "hmmm", let's see....which dialogue option fits me the most? IT IS KILLING ME.
With that said, TTG moves further and further away from my specific gaming needs, so s2 will be worse.
Its going to be hard more so that games seem to get better in peoples minds the longer they've been out (people already claim season 2is nothing compared to season 1). So far season 2 has been good though
So are you saying Season 1 was good?
I agree, While S2 does have point and click, it doesn't seem has enthralling has S1 did. Take episode 4 when you have to point and click to kill the walkers going up the stairs, now it's move left or right or press letters.
It's good because it's different but personally I prefer the old point and click but you can't stay at the same spot forever, you need to make changes and if they work then good job, if they don't, well at least they tried something new.
I do believe that Season2 has the potential to become even better than Season1. This goal is very hard to reach thoug, since Season1 was absolutely perfect. Aslong as the game will be nearly as good as Season1 was i am satisfied. People here seem to forget that everything was new to us when we were playing Season1 and our expectations weren't as high as they are now. I gues we will just have to wait and find out how good the next episode is gonna be. In Season1 Epsiode2 was the point where the game realy did start to become excellent.
S2E1 was better then S1E1.
The real fight will be between S2E2 and S1E2 because S1E2 was one of the best episodes of the first season. It will be interesting to compare the two.
I'm pretty sure that season 2 episode 2 will be the slowest episode of season 2, given that episode one's intensity. I mainly think this because I think that episode 2 will be the episode that we get to know the characters a bit more.
If they do more exploration of Clem's psychological state in season 2 (which based off the episode slides they will),then for me Season 2 will beat Season 1.
I hope we get the opportunity in the second episode to just talk to the characters because i want to know them better. But i suspect we won't have much time to chat before we must leave the cabin in the woods.
The first season was a gaming masterpiece. I do think season will be excellent but capturing lightening in a bottle twice is probably not going to happen. Season 2 will be a strong follow up but I doubt it will reach the thematic heights of season 1.
If they really do hard work on episode 2 and give it good shape and stroy..then yes or if they dont then its not pass walking dead season 1....they have to work really hard on walking dead season 2 ..they give more time to the wolf among us its okay but they also have to give equal time to walking dead season 2 ....i think that telltale forget that walking dead is one of their biggest success, more popular and also game of the year....now if episode 2 is not good then its not defeat walking dead season 1 because when season 1 episode 1 come its bit boring but when episode 2 comes its really very amazing ...if episode 2 of walking dead season 2 is going to be amazing then yes if not then its lose ...lets hope that its going to be amazing.
I absolutely think that S2 has huge potential. For me at least. I loved S1 but hey.. I'm no Lee. Being a chick, and the biggest fight I've been in is with my cat when she's in a mood, it feels like I can relate more to Clem. Not cause she's a girl, but because she doesn't have the strength that Lee had and have to stay on her toes a bit more. I'm hoping they explore that side a bit more.
Maybe you should get a new cat.
I don't know. Season 1 was very perfect to me. Season 1 will always be my favorite season and I don't know if season 2 will become better than season 1.
TWD is designed so it is episodic, like a TV show. So maybe we should think of it like that.
Season 1 is the best!!
Everyone will think S1 is the best because of Nostalgia. Shiver
While I DO think it's possible for Season Two to be better than Season One I sincerely doubt it will be as well loved by fans or critics. Many people complained about "All that Remains" despite the fact I found it a very strong Season opener. Not only that, but the fact that Lee is out of the picture completely now has upset many people including myself. But the ending of Season One was brilliant. And I was really hoping we'd get to carry on the next Season as Clementine and I'm glad we did. And also, a majority of fans hate the fact you are Clementine now. Which is another criticism that's being thrown around. Even though I'm sure it was Telltale's intent to make her the lead of the second Season since the very beginning.
So yes, while I think it's possible for many of us to personally prefer Season Two over Season One I don't think it will be as well received by the fans or critics in the long run. It's IMPOSSIBLE to please everyone. Some people didn't want to be Clementine, some people didn't want to do this, or that. Or have the episode take a more cinematic approach and barely any Adventure game elements. And some, don't want Kenny or Lilly back in the next episode. I have some worries about Season Two though. legitimate ones. You can read them here:

No. So far... no. E1S1 is better from E1S2 in EVERY aspect. Better writing, better protagonist, more interesting characters, more dialogues, better action, lenght, more choices, puzzles, some humor, real ending. It is so obvious! People saying E1S2 is better - unbelievable ignorance.
There's always going to be people who don't like it because there are some who preferred playing as Lee then Clem but to me they're both unique in their own way. We have a adult guy who is strong and can be a badass, now we have a little girl who might not have the strength of Lee but she knows how to protect herself and her style is more figuring out puzzles then using brute force (thought she can be aggressive when defending herself). Personally, Episode 1 of Season 2 is better then Episode 4 and 5 in Season 1. It's a tearjerker and hard to accept that Lee has gone but it is life and all the knowledge we learnt from Season 1 that we gave to Lee has now been passed onto Clementine. I don't see the problem with being her. Even though she's third on my favourite characters Kenny,Lee and Clem, It's still great to play as her. Telltale did the right thing in choosing her. She's a loved character, She's interesting, she can pull one liners, it works more positive then it does negative but you'll always have negatives no matter how good you are.
You do make some good points in your thread though. The characters people were complaining about, The S2 characters have a more mysterious background then S1's characters. In S1, you knew their background stories where as S2 Clem didn't get as much of a chance as Lee did to get to know the characters considering they locked her up. People should give them a chance I mean it's only being one episode. I agree with the second point. That's why Episode 3 is my favourite episode. Because the train scenes were so chilled and well made it gave us something to do and kept us excited within the game itself.
Yeah, I think judging by the first episode of S2, Telltale is going for a much darker season i.e with Sam the dog, a lot of people are animal lovers (myself included) And it was shocking when he got impaled and the fact that you only have 2 options to either leave him or put him out of his misery is terrible. You need some humour with everything. Even the scariest's horror moves have someone who's the class clown. With the cop at the first episode you have scenes that's funny like telling him fuck you.
My main concern is that it flops like a lot of sequels in moves have in the past. There's nothing worse then a sequel to something that was so successful and popular that the next one is just average and I hope if they do bring Kenny or Lily back that they don't waste them and kill them at the episode they're bought back most of all Kenny. He was like the ironman of the season besides Lee and Clem. His been through so much, we've been there with him and the last thing telltale shouldn't do is kill him early. If his going to die, Kill him in episode 5. His to good of a character to waste cheaply .
I agreed with what you said, except the protagonist and calling people ignorant based on their opinions.
Ignorance? You're the one being ignorant by saying that, no offence. We're all entitled to have an opinion. And you're not ignorant for disagreeing with someone else's. I for one preferred Season Two's start. And playing as Clementine is going to make for a great protagonist. So, I guess that makes me ignorant yes?
According to EP1,absolutely not.
It all depends on the next episodes.
But so far,it seems it will look just like "another meh sequel".But that's just my opinion though.
i'm a little torn on that. we have an established character in clem with a history we know of, and without the rest of her old group she can actually come into her own, rather than following people she's used to having lead. walking into this new group, i have my doubts. only two people seemed decent enough, the rest are incompetent pansies/pricks, and well, pete's on his way out, so that leaves luke.
i won't deny the potential for a good story, but based on what i've seen of this new group, and the difference in scale/content between S1E1 and S2E1, i'd still say episode one was better, from an objective standpoint. S2 had some new features and a more likable funny moments, but it also had the advantage of pre-established characters and setting to help it along. try thinkin of the story with new people in place of clem, christa, and omid and then compare the 2. done like that, i find season 2 episode 1 a little more innovative, but still lacking over all...
Right now S1E1 is better than S2E1. It's a fact. Sorry but disagreeing with this is ignorance, imo. Clementine is not the same girl we met before. She's grim, almost never smiles. Her voice is monotone. She's not as intersting as Lee was. Still I don't see her as game protagonist. She's 11, youngest in group. Writers are trying to make Clem important, but giving her strenght of adult man is ridiculous. Kid wouldn't push away agressive dead. After night in cold water, hungry, bitten by dog, she stays healthy. Wonder Girl!
That profile pic suits you. All you need now is a fedora.
Of course she's not going to be the same person. I don't know why people are expecting her to be the same character we knew before. She's growing up, of course she's going to sound monotone. I don't even know how it's even considered a criticism she's like this. It's expected of a person who's grown up like this. She's lost her parents, her father figure, Omid and now (probably) Christa. Clementine is growing up. Seeing her like this shows that she's not the same naive little child she was before. And that she's now capable of fending for herself. And I think playing as a young character is a great idea and I bet it was ALWAYS Telltale's intent to have her the lead of the Second Season. The first Season foreshadowed it several times. Noticeably.
But I agree with you on the part of her being physically strong. She probably started lifting since we last saw her.
Probably not. No matter how good Season 2 ends up being (and it can end up being really good), I just don't think that it's going to have the same impact for most people that Season 1 had.
I don't know about lifting, cause I can't imagine Clementine and Christa going in a abandoned gym and lifting weights there.
I was only joking.
I don't know what you are talking about?
Season2 did have a strong start compared to Season1. SE1 EP1 was starting out very slowly.
