Should Clem witness a romantic relationship develop within the group?

edited February 2014 in The Walking Dead

Go back to the walking dead season 1. Most of the people here have at least done one playthrough where you saved Carely. You remember the romantic relationship that was built up towards the start of the third episode between Lee and Carley. It was a nice touch to the game and made her death all the more shocking when it came about.

One of the coolest parts about season 2 is that everything is viewed form a child's perspective. Admittedly, a very mature child, but a child nonetheless. Do you think telltale would try to have a romantic relationship develop between two adults while Clem acts as an observer (I'm not talking about anything explicit here. Save that for TWAU).

Think about it. Clem is already a part of a sort of Post apocalyptic war (cabin group vs carver). What's so difficult about having Clementine observe two people grow close to each other (with the obligatory killing off of one of the characters come episode 4 or 5).

I'm not saying Telltale should necessarily do this, I'm just saying it might be an interesting idea.

  • sounds like a good idea in some ways, but you should change the title though, its misleading

  • Yeah the title makes it seem like he is going to try to argue for Clem having a LI.

"Should Clem witness a romantic relationship develop within the group?"

Not perfect, just off of the top of my head. It's hard to adequately describe this thread's contents in one line.

While I think it is an interesting Idea, the only characters who could develop this relationship aren't even in the same group at the moment, making it a little bit less likely.

EG Kenny and Christa. They've both lost the same amount, they both lost their partner and their kid, they know/trust each other.

Luke and Molly. They are both pretty young, Luke's idealistic and kind (that can be a strength and a weakness), Molly is tough but has a soft spot for those kinds of people.

Without seeing the new characters of season 2 episode 2 I can't really think of any other pairings that seem semi-logical to occur.

Joke/Mean time: Lily and Nick. Think about it, they are both jumpy and paranoid, and trigger happy with guns, they are both reasonably okay people if they didn't have those issues, they both nearly shot someone out of paranoia after their parent was killed due to walker related incidents.

[Larry was killed over fear of becoming a walker, Nick's mum was killed over lack of fear of a person becoming a walker] (Well Lilly technically succeeded on shooting someone, but she did fail to kill Ben, so...)

Hmm... What else... they both have dark hair? Shrugs.

Actually come to think about it Nick's mullet/hat combo would probably remind Lilly of Kenny.

  • This is Determinant, but potentially, Lilly can lose her father "because of Lee" and Nick can lost Pete, his father figure-ish guy, "because of Clementine."

  • Seems like something they should implement into the game, it would be somewhat interesting.

@Michael7123 Ahem you spelled "whiteness" instead of witness.
EDIT-Thanks for the change mister OP

    Thanks.

  • I was thinking Luke and Bonnie would be good together. Depending on your choices, Bonnie can be a really good person, like Luke. She always Leaves with Tavia, so she probably will have some role in this new season.

Pff I would hope not but it craps me up nonetheless

    Racist.

  • I didn't read your entire post so sorry if you mentioned this, but why does the relationship have to be between two people we already know? Luke and Unknown(as of yet) is a possibility.

So yeah "person X" and "person we don't know yet" are of course a possibility. I just listed the possibilities we can actually be aware of.

  • ewww i dont want to see alvin and rebecca get it on

  • That's not what I meant...... I meant something to the extent that Lee and Carley had. As far as we can tell, nothing really happened between them, curtesy of Lilly's bullet.

  • As long as an awkward love triangle doesn't overtake the whole group dynamic.

Romance related or not, I like the idea of seeing more characters interact outside of the arguments.

  • Yeah, I don't want a bunch of romantic tension develop.

It would be fun if Clem could got two people together somehow.

  • Sure why not, might lead to a nice difficult decision of who to save at some point. I could see a 'save somones love interest or important member of group' either way alienating a character.
As long as it doesn't take over the whole plot line.

  • Exactly. The last thing I want is for this to be a major plot line, I just want it to be a small subplot that makes x character's death more painful for character y than everyone else.

  • Nick and Kenny look so similar. Long lost brothers..? ;D Joking but they look so similar with the mullet, the cap and the undershirt..
