Why did you buy Telltale Game and take the risk?

edited February 2014 in The Walking Dead

TWD was my first telltale game and one best decisions i made after seeing the reviews and lack quality of games on my vita also played a lot of similar concept games (heavy rain, beyond two souls) and horror point and click games online so knew worth the chance having never watched the show always hated zombies games as kept on coming no matters how many you killed in games i played never liked that but game exceeded every expectation.

Also when during your first play through that you knew this game was special?

Result of playing TWD? Joined forum, watched all episodes of walking dead and played TWAU

  • Back in the day when they focused on more comedy oriented/niche games, I discovered their free fourth episode of Sam and Max Season 1 around 2008. I wasn't familiar with classic point and click adventure games then, but still liked the humor and story telling.

It's been pretty cool to see Telltale go mainstream with Walking Dead.

I got the trial for The Walking Dead season 1 quite a long time ago curious about why the game won GOTY at the VGAs. my only complaint was that the trial didnt last long enough and i wanted more, but forgot about it later on. Untill they made the first episode free on the 360. So i got it and enjoyed it. but once again didnt have the money to get it.

Finally, a year after the events of the VGAs when TWD won GOTY. i decided to get all the episodes of the first season. after completeing it. i instantly went to the dashboard after the credits and buying both the first episode of season 2. And its season pass.

I took the risk becuase i believe TTG are some of the best story-tellers of the industry, sure we have to wait until early march for episode 2. but in the words of Mr. Myamoto from Nintendo. "A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever."

As gamer breath fresh air over usually shooters glad some company's didn't follow the usually COD copies and actually try to make game sell out of pure quality of story. They chose beautiful dialogue over unnecessary explosions every scene seemed perfectly paced with no forced action to keep you entertained very rare. The fact that any character could die at anytime was first i seen in games. How made a game of such quality on such low budget is crazy

  • This is the first game I bought in a very long time. I usually downloaded free games for the iPod 'cuase I thought it was pretty silly to be buying low-quality games and I happened to download S1 E1. I liked it so much that I downloaded the entire the season in my computer (it was clearly not meant to be with Plants vs. Zombies on my iPod). After season 1, there was no way I was missing season 2.
