Explain the Luke Love, I don't get it.

It seems the forum has really been loving Luke, and I just can't understand the motive why. It's been probably near two months since I played episode one and the only characters I remember are Pete?, Rebecca, Black guy with glasses who helped Clementine, Carlos and her daughter. I faint remember Luke as talking to him during the dinner discussion, and don't remember any good dialogue to remember him by. I just don't understand the love for Luke, a very underdeveloped character at this point. None of these characters are interesting enough at this moment in time except for Sasha, (Carlos daughter?) mainly because it will be interested in how the Carlos/Clem/Daughter with no understanding of the outside world.

It's like the love for Kenny. Yes, he was a great character and strong friend for Lee. But what moments did he do that made you love him so much? When he left, I felt bad of course. But I feel in the walker apocalypse friends come and go like they do in real life, so I still can't see the attachment. It's a zombie tale, where it seems all suffer in the end and happiness is a rare commodity.

  • It's more of a trust thing: Luke seems to be the only real trustworthy person and he trusted you when others didn't (Other than Pete). He also saved your life from a lurker.

  • bc he's hot

  • You ask why the love for Luke then you mention that you don't understand the attachment for characters so you wouldn't understand. Being attached to characters is what Telltale loves doing and if you don't understand that then I can't explain to you.

  • If you had to choose between me and him, who would you select?

He is way too "flawless" at the moment for my tastes. Nothing wrong with that, I suppose, I just really find him uninteresting because of it. We should better get used to him though, for he is the obvious deuteragonist and they will most grant him the golden ticket to survive through the entire season. Predictable. I want more surprises...

That said, it also means that they have 4 more episodes to develop him so I suppose we will be at Telltale's mercy on that. Perhaps by the end of the season he has enough flaws to be at least a little bit interesting.

  • Omid was likeable and he was a guide for Clem...

They killed him off on the first episode.

  • People ran out of things to talk about Understandably so, Luke-Related topics happen to be the newest trend and it seems like people enjoy discussing whether he looks like Pewdiepie, If we should trust him, And if he is hot

  • I'm not a Luke fan (at least for now), but I can see the traits on him that people find trusworthy... I just don't like Luke because he's topo normal, naive and a good guy (As I said before, for now). I prefer charatcher with a darker side, less naive and different.

don't get me wrong I appreciate and understand the importance of Luke, but I'll rather have Nick, Pete or even Nate and Eddie than him. But deffinitly not ALvin or Rebecca. Can't understand how the fuck Alvin is still alive and can't like Rebecca for her attitude towards Clem... (Nick apologized and had a reason forlike he was being, Rebecca is just being an asshole that deserves to die...)

  • Clem likes Luke - it means he's a good guy. Clem can't be wrong.

  • I hate when people say that Luke looks like Pewdiepie. It seems like any character who has even the slightest and I mean slightest similar feature to a youtuber is compared to them. I don't see the resemblance at all even after I heard about it. I heard someone said that Vince looks like Uberhaxornova. Vince is Asian and Uberhaxornova is Caucasian. -_-

  • I dont understand it either man. People jump to the conclusion he will be clems guardian after one episode in which we still dont know a whole lot about him or really any of the new group. Time will tell though

  • Well she liked the stranger, and we know where that went.

"Except for Sasha" Oh...Sasha is my favorite character! In all seriousness I think you meant Sarah and I don't exactly get the Luke love either I think he seems to generic and nice but It's just the first episode so we still have quite a bit of time to find out more about Luke.

  • cause he is one of the only people in the group who isn't a complete asshole to clem

  • ^This.

I have every finger crossed that in the next episode you can actually take time talking to all the characters before advancing the story. The best thing about the first season was the broad cast of characters, and interacting with them all was fantastic. S2E1 felt very railroaded in that regard, made worse by the fact there wasn't any "flavor text" when Clem examined stuff. I mean, who didn't love Lee with his "I need... to drag myself... to the WINDOW!" and "OFFICER! ARE YOU DEAD!?" comments? You even had moments where Larry could show that, beneath his big bulky exterior of anger and jawbone, he was just a normal guy forced to be overbearing and protective of his daughter.

Right now Luke is the only adult who isn't a douchebag (excluding Pete, but I doubt he's gonna live long. I also don't count Sarah since it's heavily implied she has, at the very least, serious social disorders.) It's like, give us reasons for the douchebaggery. Give us a chance to win the other survivors over. Otherwise you're gonna have us trying to deliver a baby for a character that's unanimously despised, and any death scenes are gonna be totally void of emotion and impact.

  • He refuses to help Clementine in several situations and sides with the group over Clem. He's a bit fearful and selfish in some situations, but he comes across as a much more reliable person than most of the people Clem's comes across, and he seems to put some faith in Clem later on in the episode.

He's not flawless at all, he just comes across as a bit of a 'nice guy'.

  • How are you already attached to a guy we have only known for one episode and barely anything about him?

Pete, Sarah, and Alvin werent complete assholes either. Why isnt there appreciation for them but only Luke. Pete was the nicest actually if it wasnt for him Luke probably wouldve left or killed Clem in the forest because of the bite

  • People DO like Pete, and they like him a lot. People aren't speaking about him because, in all likelihood, he is going to die in the next Episode. I, personally, like Pete more than Luke, even though Uncle Pete won't be around much longer.
