Why is Nate so popular among the community?
I mean, why do people even like him? He's a psychopath who no matter what you choose shoots an old couple mercilessly, and it's pretty clear that he DOES know them from before. He also attacks Wyatt and Eddie... so... why are so many people a fan of him? He is literally evil, with a side of perverted...

He's an interesting character. The reasons listed above are exactly why is he is popular.
If he appears in season 2, well, people love a good antagonist.
Cause he's freakin hilarious and he's anti-racism
He scares me...
Well he lost his friend to W&E and he is right guy to search for survivors and supplies.
I feel that Nate represents all of the evil in people.
I think he could have been a bandit earlier along the line.
Because he stands out and is an interesting character.
But so many people want him to BE a protagonist, which wont happen, because he is pure evil. If anything he'll try to rate or kill Clem.
Rating Clem would be HORRIBLE
Jk I know it was rape
You are talkin about Luke obviously.
because those who likes nate are also douchebags in real life
Also fav char below Clem, lee and mustache.
Yo man get off Luke's back he hasn't shot any old people...
... that we know of.
It actually WAS meant to be rate, lol, but he would probably rape her too.
(Rate as in FIVE! FUCKIN' FIVE!)
Who said they want him to be the protagonist? If he were to join the cabin group, hilarity would ensue from the pure chaos caused by Nate. You don't have to be a good person to be an interesting character. Look at Joker. Look at Walter White.
Nate's a fucking murderer. I was pissed that there was no option to stop him from killing the old couple.
Perfect Car is stoping for some gas and duck takes bullet in the throat because couple is trigger happy.
People like Nate make good characters.
Nate wouldn't be fun to be around in real life unless you could put up with and stand up to his bullshit.
But in story's, anti-heroes, or just plain bad guys make intersting character studies.
I don't think the people who like Nate are douchebags in real life.
I'm not a douche bag, I love Nate, I think he's one of the more interesting characters simply because he's entertaining, because his unpredictable nature means you don't know what he's going to do next.
Besides I don't see what Nate did as that bad. Those people in the Pit Stop shot at him unprovoked. They were prepared to kill Nate and Russel without even knowing for certain who they were.
If that had happened to me, I would have been so pissed off at being shot at for no reason and with no warning I would've done the same.
They started the fight, Nate finished it.
Nate's not just evil, he's Chaotic Evil. And Chaotic evil always sells. Just look at The Joker.
Those old people opened fire on Nate and Russel with no warning and without even knowing who they wre.
They started that fight.
Are you saying they should get a free pass because they're old????
A lot of people have said they want him as a protagonist, which would work for hilarity for a while but he'd eventually hurt someone.
Don't get me wrong, he's well written, but he is a psychotic murderer, and possibly a sex pest. I'd like it if Nate was Carver, but he wouldn't work as a protagonist.
Just cause he's a nutcase doesn't make him a pedo lol, WTF?!?
Rather Chaotic Good.
Do you have any proof? Even if people have said this, they are about as serious as people who argue that Kenny's mustache should be the protagonist.
Trevor Phillips was a lot more of a psycho than Nate, but he was probably the most popular playable character in GTA V. Hell, I would play as Nate, but obviously I would rather play as Clementine.
Dude those old people fired first without warning on a man and a teenage boy. THEY tried to MURDER Nate and Russel FIRST.
They're no better than bandits.
Does being old give them a free pass?
*shakes head in disbelief at ageist dual standards.
Nobody really likes him, they just find him quite interresting and want him to be the next antagonist so they can kill him with Clem.
Even though it might mean the worst, people really want to see what happens if he gets near Clementine.
I love Nate, but if he messes with Clem he's going down hard.
I liked him because he reminds me of myself!
Let's take this old fucker out and take his stuff russle my boy!
Just hope that he dont end up dead like roman. he was cool too
No... It was CLEAR they recognised the car, and they recognised Nate. It's not because they're old, but because one of them was injured, and by the way they reacted to him they had a REASON to keep him away.
He rates walkers on how good looking they are. I'm not calling him a pedo, i'm calling him a sex pest... omg he's creepy okay
Definitely not. Chaotic Neutral at best.
Well sir, you have presented a good argument. I now see why so many people like the character Nate. Thanks for explaining. I still don't want him near Clem, though.
And then Nate had them at gunpoint. It's clear that it might have been a case of mistaken identity based on the old couple's reactions. And if it wasn't, then Nate's at fault.
It's funny because there is a theory that said Nate is Carver. So his real name is "Nate Carver". But dont know.
FUCK YEAH TEAM NATE! FUCK YEAH ANTI-RACISM! (it's 1 in the morning)
Whoa Gramps! Watch the fucking racism! That's my boy you talkin' to!
I'd go more with Chaotic Evil, but he's definitely not Chaotic Good.
Don't get me wrong, he's a really well written antagonist, but if he goes anywhere near Clem I want to hammer him.
I'd say Nate leans more towards chaotic neutral. He's just all over the place, one moment he is helping people for no reason, the next he is either messing with them or killing them.
I would say someone like the Comic Governor would be Chaotic evil, or maybe the save lots bandits for example.
Yes but people are saying "Nate killed old people" like old people are off limits just because they're old, and I just try to put myself in the situation of the character I'm with or playing as.
Those old fucks shot first, without warning.
They rolled the dice and lost.
Yeah, just blowing them away was maybe taking it too far, but at the end of the day, if they hadn't have fired first, or if they'd have checked who they were firing at it wouldn't have happened.
I mean, say it hadn't have been Nate and Russel, but a family, like Pony mentioned, they pull up to check the pumps, and NANG, their kid gets a .308 round in the head because of a couple of trigger happy old dudes.
If I'd come under fire for nothing I'd done, and without any, Lay down your guns warning, hell yeah I'd kill who did it in case the next group they did it to had kids.
I even agreed with taking their stuff.
Seemed fair compenstation for being almost murdered.
Putting holes in people when you have the option to let them live doesn't constitute neutral, IMO.
