What if Rebecca was...
...raped by Carver, or by someone else?
A lot of her current hatred comes from the fact that she may've had an affair while with Alvin and is extremely rude to Clementine, but what if her affair was unwilling? What if she didn't want to have someone else's baby? What if it's the reason for her stress, anger, and (private) sadness?

That's a really good point Gorthaur. You can clearly tell from the bathroom scene that she's struggling with uncertainty. If the pregnancy was unwilling and God forbid even due to sexual assault then I would imagine that she would be more psychologically damaged. Plus if she did nothing wrong I would guess that she would also disclose the incident to Alvin right?
Hey, now when I started to think about it, do you guys remember cabin group's Kitchen conversation? When they started to talk about carver, Alvin became angry and also in episode 2 preview, when clementine was telling about the man who came looking for rebecca, Alvin is like;"we know damn well who it was!", so what if Alvin knows that Carver raped rebecca, that's why he becomes so angry when he hears about carver?
Could be. Could also be what caused @puzzlebox to tweet how she felt like a horrible person after playing ep2. :P Since most of the players probably outright hate Rebecca, without even knowing what she might have been through or is going through. Maybe she did too.

Exactly what I was thinking. I found that just some regular affair would be way too obvious and would demonize her character too much, I thought there would be some depth to this story.
Also in the next episode preview video she was the one who looked most afraid by the sheer mention of Carver's name. So yeah, I think the rape story is accurate.

Huh, I thought this was fairly commonly assumed amongst the community for a looong time already. I guess people were just too blinded by their hate for her to have a brain and acknowledge that there actually could be redeeming features in her.
Anyway, yeah. As much as it is a terrible thing to say, I would like to assume so simply because it would perfectly explain everything.
Maybe the group doesn't know of it and she is not strong enough to speak. The weight of having not talked about it with anyone and the stress of pregnancy do some really nasty things to one's sanity. Her bitchiness would be perfectly understandable.
That said, no matter what happens I will just keep being nice to her. Who knows, maybe I'll break through her defenses.
Or Telltale just decides to be lazy again and have my choice of trying to understand her not matter at all. Good riddance. Boy I cannot wait for A House Divided.

Honestly I agree with you. It could be that Rebecca is the new Kenny. As I played S1, kenny was a real asshole to me. But in the end I respect this character. And I think the same thing will happen to Rebecca. In the end everybody may understand her
What did you expect? "Gosh I'm so annoyed that I was raped" No one who went through that would be so open to say it out loud, especially to themselves.

What would you say if Rebecca is REALLY a bitch? I mean she says "Please let the baby be okay and let it be HIS". Nobody said she mean Alvin. What if she loves carver and betray the group for him?
