Why is Nate so popular among the community?

  • This. I get the impression Nate doesn't plan out his moves, he just acts on the spur of the moment, often according to what he finds most amusing at the time.

    Nate's like the Joker.

  • I got the distinct impression they were old and confused.

They didn't wait long enough to identify.

Bottom line is, I find it impossible to have any sympathy for someone who has shot at me.

You should never escalate a situation unless you have the ability to finish it.

No... It was CLEAR they recognised the car, and they recognised Nate. It's not because they're old, but because one of them was injured, and by the way they reacted to him they had a REASON to keep him away.

  • Definately not, dude. Nate's fun, but Thou Shalt Not Fuck With Clementine. :)

Well sir, you have presented a good argument. I now see why so many people like the character Nate. Thanks for explaining. I still don't want him near Clem, though.

  • Obviously not. He is not rapist and for sake of her future he would be unstoppable defender. Like running into fire with two gas cans with no gum to chew.

I love Nate, but if he messes with Clem he's going down hard.

  • Oh he's definately got a screw loose lolz

He rates walkers on how good looking they are. I'm not calling him a pedo, i'm calling him a sex pest... omg he's creepy okay

  • He's an interesting character. Or the kind that this world creates.... Whatever floats your boat. It shouldn't come as a surprise the fact that Nate is popular within TWD. Hell, even The Governor has some sort of "cult" following around him, myself included.

  • I'll admit being shot at by them didn't incline me to listen to their point of view much. By the time we got in the kitchen I just wanted them dead.

I'd already decided to kill them at that point anyway, I just told Nate to shut them up when the old dude started talking.

    I wasn't in a very forgiving mood. -_-

If Nate hadn't killed them, I would. That's why my Russ stayed with him.

Whoa gramps! I got here late, what's with the Nate hate?

And why the hell do some people think Nate is some kind of pedophile? He's fuckin' crazy, but not that kind of crazy.

Nate was being vulgar and rude to Russel to fuck with his mind/piss Russel off (because Nate is a hilarious asshole), hence the creepy comments interrupting Russel and trying to sidetrack his story. TL:DR, Nate figured out how important Russel's story was to him, so Nate was messing with Russel by trying to devalue Russel's story by showing how much he (Nate) didn't care, by sidetracking it.

The whole point of Nate is that after his friend died he just can't take the world seriously anymore. Life is just a big joke to him.

There's a pretty good reason why a lot of people here are comparing him to the Joker, too. (see above).

  • I'm absolutely 100% with you on this one. I can't say Negan sits right with me either for the same reasons.

Speaking of that, how come The Governor doesn't have an appreciation thread yet?! It would be interesting to see people's reaction that's for certain...

He could have easily diffused the situation without killing them.

  • They obviously could have killed Russel with that first shot. If I remember correctly, they hit the car door, the definitely missed Russel. The car wasn't moving. It is much more likely that was a warning shot, than a killing shot.

Hell I'd go so far as to say he'd be ok with Clem.

    Kinda like Joel and Ellie.

Joel was pretty much sociopathic, it's a myth sociopaths don'thave empathy, they just only have it for themselves or very small carefully selected groups.

And who could resist Clem's cute factor.

At least with Nate she'd be safer than with Carlos and Bitchecca

  • I used to have friends in high school who would fuck with you like Nate did to Russ. You just have to know how to handle those dudes. That's why when Nate said cover me, I pulled his own gun on him but then gave him it strait back, just to say, hey, I could've, so cut to shit and lets find find someone we can BOTH fuck withj :)

  • Lee would get the bullet for sure. He was blackier(?) than Russell... this bandit.

  • Nate would be a horrible role model for Clem.

He's sexist and pretty much a psychopath.

Needlessly wasting two people and chasing down two more in the middle of a swamp is sending the wrong message.

    ..I can't wait for episode 2.

  • Yeah he'd be a shitty role-model, but then would you want your daughter raised by a guy like Joel?

    But she'd be safe...

And I think Clem's personality has pretty much been established by now.

I can't see any amount of time spent with Nate would counteract her basic nature or her lessons from Lee.

it's a myth sociopaths don't have empathy, they just only have it for themselves or very small carefully selected groups.

That makes me a sociopath. That makes a lot of people sociopaths.

Joel wasn't a sociopath, he was just a callous old man who had been suppressing his emotions for 20 (or more) years. No one that survived that long in the apocalypse would have empathy for humanity as a whole, especially when humanity consists of assholes who try to kill and rob you. Let's see... will he choose his daughter figure, or the shitty remnants of humanity that have caused him so much pain over 20 years? It's an easy choice, and you don't have to be a sociopath to choose to save your daughter figure over that cesspit.

But seriously honest question why would people think Nate is a pedophile?

I'm certain that he said what he did about the girl from Russel's group exclusively to fuck with Russel.

    Remember that conversation though.

Nate wasn't like 'That kid! How sexy was that Kid? I think kids are sexy!' It was : 'You mentioned the word female? How sexy was the female?! How big were her boobs?'

It's pretty standard roughneck type 'I don't care about your story' mindfuckery. That and Nate just being a vulgar hilarious asshole and only vaguely listening to what Russelhad to say.

  • It probably isn't right to use " Nate " and " diffuse " in the same sentence, you're right.

He lacks empathy and has psychotic reasoning, and that's why I dislike him.

  • I'm guessing Nate used to work for AMC before the ZA.

Explains his obsession with Ratings and his general attitude to life :)
