At the beginning of Season 1, I thought Larry was an asshole. But I waited a few more episodes to confirm that he was, in fact, an asshole right up until his death. He had his reasons as to why, but that doesn't make him any less of an asshole.
It's the start of Season 2, we honestly have little to no idea about who Rebecca really is. The tension in this group is sky-high with a shadowy figure called Carver trying to track them down, and then a new addition joins who was thought to be bitten.
All things aside, it's easier to try and remain neutral with someone who isn't actively your enemy, than to make them your enemy.
