Nope is not possible
fair enough
No, but perhaps a "fungal apocalypse" like in TLOU is possible. The infected seemed a lot more resilient and dangerous. The fungal infection could actually have been sustaining them.
If something like a parasite or "intelligent" kind of virus can provide the brain with sufficient nutrients and create electric impulses to keep the muscles moving, as well as creating bacteries that can retain some chemical reactions within the body, it could be possible in theory. Though a natural virus wouldn't evolve that far in reality in this short amount of time.
Nothing is impossible, despite what these so called experts say. Could a Zombie apocalypse happen? Yes. There are many diseases, that we haven't even begun to understand. Not to mention experiments with biological weapons, experiments with DNA and the constant drive to extend our life expectancy.
That doesn't mean to say I am expecting it to happen. Bloody hope not anyway. All I am saying, is you can't rule anything out.
It wasn't so long ago that the HIV virus was considered 'impossible'. Until that is some very determined scientists proved otherwise. Same could be said for flight, speed of sound, nuclear power, mobile phones, space exploration, the internet and even something taken for granted these days, television. All those and countless others were deemed 'impossible' at some time or another.
So there we go, proved a point I think.
In a world where a Mustache like the one Kenny owes exists, anything is possible!
Well maybe there might be some kind of madness disease that makes people crazy or something similar....
A god-like mustache
In the game The Last Of Us a fungal virus took over most of the human population, this can happen ants already have it the virus, its called Cordyceps
New epidemics aren't impossible.
The way that fiction presents the zombie apocalypse (reanimated corpses and/or mentally addled people that can keep functioning and pose an actual threat to society despite the inability to properly feed and water themselves) is impossible.
Brain can be manipulated by hypnotism to make you do anything. They cloned a sheep nothing is impossible i agree with your statement. Always wondered about rabies in future

With all the obsessive scientists and the advances in medicine and all the shady pharmaceuticals I truly believe there is some idiot out there trying to CREATE a Zombie virus. Or they will start getting lazy while creating cures for cancer and create it that way. Either way, in this day and age. Anything is possible. Look at the synthetic drug that was causing people to attack humans and even "bite" them. supposedly, idk if its true, but supposedly one guy killed the family dog that way. Yeah creepy stuff. Not to mention that fungal virus in the amazon (the one last of us is based off of) creeeepy. The ones that do say no. Are the ones that will be begging the preppers like us, to feed them, clothe them and help them.
It's not necessarily impossible, just the corpses wouldn't last long if they couldn't properly feed and water themselves, so the apocalypse would actually be a lot easier to survive, just wait until the walking dead rot and stop walking. xD
Nope and zombies are not a threat for our world anyway.
Possibly on space station and very advanced one - sterile environment, flat surfaces everywhere, no actual atmospheric changes.
I hope it will happen lol. Dont get me wrong but i love survivaling
Depends on which version of the ZA you want to take into consideration (I hope you aren't a "they aren't zombies" type of person") The ZA in TLOU is much more plausible than TWD.
Not necessarily true. We see evolution take leaps and then go stagnant and then take even bigger leaps, especially with micro-organisms. Drug resistant bacteria is a good example.
Nice I am Legend reference.
You have to take anything into consideration. In regards to science. Anything is possible. And anyone that says otherwise is to naive to survive when it does happen.
It first depends on your definition of 'zombie'. Assuming you mean them to be like the ones in the Walking Dead game, then no, they're not possible in the first place becuase of basic biology (no functioning circulation, respiratory or digestion system to make them live in the first place, let alone eat people). So you'd have to rely on a supernatural cause to explain these kinds of zombies, which goes against your idea of a real apocalypse.
On the other hand, there are some interesting toxoplasms out there that can hijack neurological functions, but you'd probably have to design one to emulate what we think of as a zombie (which would probably be more complicated, time consuming and expensive to be a feasible endeavor), and even then it would just be a pseudo-zombie or something. So even though that article really oversimplifies things, it's possible, yes, but not very likely at all, which I think makes all the difference.
I believe zombies MIGHT be possible. Like some people said, technology and science are advancing everyday. From my point of view, the infection would start in USA or China. Giving distant countries at least a week of "peace" and have a "normal" life, in that period of time you could buy weapons and stuff normally or reunite with your family ( which is a theme always present in TWD. Of course, it will eventually be worlwide, but some countries might have some extra time to prepare themselves. Thats my vision of a zombie apocalypse. i hope it doesnt happen
You couldn't be more correct. Anyone who truly believes they know or that we as a species know much of anything are the most foolish people in existence. My opinion of course.
Question everything.
Those cordyceps ants are fucking creepy
The First of Them

We keep chopping rainforests down we'll run across one that likes us
Ain't just cordyceps out there
All right this doesn't work but it's worth a watch
And one last one for the professors among us
There are always smartasses who say some things aren't possible but a zombie apocalypse is pretty possible, especially with all the genetic engineering that goes around these days.
Its not a game!
Frostbite, try pushing a pull door. Just saying.
Well, now I'm even more freaked out about cordyceps. Thanks for that.
I'm talking about the stereotypical zombie scenario, where they don't stop as long as their head's intact. The idea of reanimating a brain wouldn't automatically kickstart someone's lungs and blood flow. They wouldn't be able to move.
If it were to amount to an actual apocalypse it'd be because of a fatal airborne disease, not because a bunch of people went crazy and started taking on the armed forces with nothing but their teeth.
@ceasermartinez did not respawn
swine flu Is the only virus to jump species So it is possible they said a virus would be impossibleTo jump and then swine flu came along. So say that's just impossible just leave you room to be surprised
Pretty sure it's possible. Maybe some type of disease could turn you zombie-like. But I do know for sure some animals come back from the dead (e.g being frozen-frogs etc). I think if scientist look into that they could come up with something. And also africa does that weird type of shit.
You're just not pushing hard enough
Ebola Zaire jumps between primates pretty well...
So does Rabies.
Many virus's are zoonotic
It's amazing something so sinister can be so beautiful to the eye, like the cordyceps that killed the moth.
I think people coming back from the dead is probably the one thing that is impossible.
Fascinating aren't they
Those frogs wouldn't help create a zombie virus or anything, all they could do is allow us to freeze ourselves and reanimate. They could be useful for space exploration or other time consuming ventures. They have a biochemical anti-freeze of sorts, it's pretty interesting, but not a prelude to zombiefication.
Extremely!
Oh yeah survival is a game. You just always gotta be 1 step ahead from then. Just become strategic.
