Could Sam have given Clementine rabies?!

edited February 2014 in The Walking Dead

A horrible thought occurred to me yesterday: What if Sam was actually rabid? This could be how Telltale intends to axe Clementine (assuming they'd do such a ghastly thing), by having her gradually succumb to the virus over the course of the season. Carlos has already proven he's a staggeringly incompetent doctor, so it goes without saying ANY member of the group could die from a poorly-monitored infection, let alone Clementine. Everyone's become so paranoid about zombie bites, they're dangerously absent-minded about the more mundane, day-to-day bacterial/viral threats out there.

Think Telltale couldn't believably pull off something like that? Think again:

*The incubation period for rabies is typically 1–3 months, but may vary from <1 week to >1 year. *

  • They could, but I doubt they will.

Besides, if I remember correctly only 1 person has survived rabies in recorded history (US).... Clem would be number 2.

  • Well it would certainly make for a unique-ish plot twist..

  • If the dog had rabies, it's mouth would be foaming, and it would have bitten Clementine sooner

  • This. And Sam would have been way more hostile and would've attacked Clem when he had the chance.

Even walker virus is a possibility, since I imagine that sam probably bit walkers in the past and I don't think animals can get infected in TWD.

  • exactly rabies unconfirmed for season 2

  • Rabies can lay dormant and virulent for a long while. Just because he didn't show the signs doesn't mean he couldn't have transfered it.

  • It could not be a virus you know, did you watch the TV series, it explains what it is but they don't know what causes it.

  • She probably would have shown symptoms by now

  • Why do you say that? We have no idea how long ago she was bit (assuming she was bit, which I don't think she was).

  • I'm sure by the time EP 2 trailer is revealed her arm is feeling better, because she has her sleeve up in the screenshots. By the time she finds the I Thought You Were Dead person, I'm sure if it had rabies, she would show symptoms

  • Nope, again it can lay dormat for a long time. Her arm probably is feeling better. The infection site can heal normally even if she did get rabies.

  • What would they gain by giving her rabies? They can't kill her before Episode 5, I'm sure Episode 5 is at least a few months after Episode 1. If she had rabies, she would show symptoms by then or even be dead if she had rabies

  • Theres always the chance of TB as well.

  • I'm not arguing that. I agree and I don't think they will do it. I was just pointing out that your previous statements were false and that is is possible.

  • I doubt it though, we will find out "SOON"

  • It could lie dormant in her system for 30 days or less. I doubt they would do that.
