Boing. Boing. Bounce your ideas around here...

edited August 2005 in Team Bone
Thought we needed a thread here to bounce around possible Team Bone inititaves & strategies.

I'll get the (bouncy) ball rolling...

Telltale guys; Can we PLEASE get some Telltale specific avatars made for the forums here? The default ones are, frankly, awful.

We need Dank, The Hold'Em guys and lots and lots of Bone - each Bone one with the URL bone.telltalegames.com on the icon somewhere.

People who visit Telltale should be encouraged not only to use them here, but more importantly use them as avatars on all other messageboards that allow custom ones and on webchats etc.

Maybe even some subtle, looping, animated GIFs of the Bone characters in action would be in order?

How about organising a Question & Answer with the Telltale team, we could get questions off the people on the forum.

I can try to make something. Just give me a moment or two...

There's already an animated one here that we can use:

I have no idea if we have the permission to use these, but I found these at the Comics Community:

Well, I'm talking about ones specifically made from the lovely 3D models in the game, possibly animated, and with a URL written on it that will advertise the Bone game site.

While those above are nice, they don't have any connection whatsoever to Telltale or the videogame. The animated one from here (and posted on newsarama is the sort of thing I'm talking about, but with website advertising on it too.

I'd think the Telltale designers should probably be the ones to make at least the first batch, given their access to the models & backgrounds.

But the computer game does have a connection with the comic.
I made these before your reply (and meanwhile we can just go ahead and use these, because they're quite occupied with Bone):

    I like your first 2 above! :D

But I think we're not quite on the same page regarding how I see these as useful promotional tools for Telltale.

If someone uses any of those 3 avatars elsewhere on the internet (outside of Telltalegames.com) they will neither see anything from the Bone game to pique their curiosity, nor will they know where to look for more information on what the avatar is about.

As it stands those 3 things only show the uninitiated an image from a comic and a disassociated word.

At the very least the icon needs bone.telltalegames.com as text. Ideally it also needs "BONE: The Videogame" or similar, and to be honest a tweaked screengrab from the game would be much more appropriate for the purpose of spreading the word about the game's existence than a scan from the comic strip.

I hope I'm explaining my reasoning OK, I realise that English isn't everyone's mother tongue around here.

    Here, this is one I just put together as an example using that animation you found;

    bone_avatar.gif

Probably slightly too big dimensionwise, but you get the idea...

Exactly like that, seeing as it's been almost 3 months, I'm sure there's plenty of new stuff to ask.

Well, sure. It was just an example design, but what the heck...

    This works well.

Instead of "Bone: The videogame", I suggest "Bone: Interactive tale" or "Bone comes to life."

As posts go out to broader forums, there's a chance to get people interested who may not consider themselves gamers -- i.e. all those people out there interested in great stories, characters and worlds!

A broader term like "interactive tale" helps in stirring their interest and motivating them to find out more!

    Sure.

Any chance of a few more looped GIF animations being posted so we can make up some different icon designs & showcase different characters?

I'm happy to make some more icons from them if your designers are all too busy crunching for the release...

I'm pretty sure they are. There has been released a few teasers, tough.
