The games industry as a whole has changed. Its been different than the model most ppl think of(late 1970's thru late 1990's) If the pay model is broken for programmers or whoever else they should do something about that. From what I've seen most of the top VA's in video games also do TV and Movies. No one is gonna make a game studio pay actor X all the profits! Thats just a misreading of the facts. These actors can and Do take their talents elswhere. Studios should decide if that matters! If yes pay the market value for the work. If not tell the Union to climb a tree! Hire new actors from within, add voice to the list of prefered skills and be done with this. Or they can take Nintendos approach an use limited VA work. Bottom line they need to hash this out. Funny side note:If this agreement goes through Freaking ProWrestlers would need to join Swag to be a voice in WWe games! This rabbit hole looks infinat right now! lol
maybe if you compare $100,000 for 15 months work to a hollywood actor that isn't much, but it is more than most of the people who worked on … morethe game that work 8+ hours a day get.
maybe a bit more money (depending on the role) would be good for the actors, but i think it is mainly the other contractual parts that is the real concern
I think voice actors get play based on the intake from the game itself so if you get a game that doesent make much you don't get much im not… more too sure but that's my theory I agree about the agreement that prevents a strike or a lot of games are going to get delayed
Good on them.. they deserve it.. I heard Ashley Burch (Chloe from LIS) supports this.. which could interfere with episode 5's release date.. but honestly.. who cares.. they all work so hard to bring those characters to life.. and are one of the main reasons people love these games.. so they should get more recognition and pay.
from what i can tell (very basic knowledge) the voice actors are aiming high with their demands to give room for negotiation, hopefully a compromise will be met, so both sides are satisfied.
that part about the wrestlers is a good point, but also it would apply to general first time voice actors, and that could cause problems like it does with film

I agree, and wish others could as well. So I'm a sub of Pat the NES Punk, and he tried to talk about this on his POD Cast:( Just wow is all I can say. It was the most uninformed thing I've seen from him and just painfull to watch. Does he do voice work or programming? This seems to really tick him off!

No, that's what they want.
