Telltale Games Mega Month News and Discussion
Season Finales, Series Premieres, and remastered classic titles!
What is Mega Month?
In ancient civilizations, legend foretells that than an eldritch abomination by the name of "Mega Month" terrorized swathes of people and devoured their souls for many generations to come. Rarely were people ever brave enough to so much as to even utter the name "Mega Month" from their lips without becoming completely paralyzed in terror and fear. As the story goes, whenever a Blood Moon shone in the pale night sky, "Mega Month" would emerge, and for the longest time, people were helpless to do anything but gaze in horror.
However, eons later, Telltale Games saw an opportunity stop the gruesome "Mega Month" beast once and for all.
During the Blood Moon on September 2015, Telltale revealed via Twitter they would release new series premieres, season finales, remastered classic games, and more all throughout October. What seemed at face value to be an announcement that October would be a very busy month for Telltale (or a Mega Month, you could say wink wink nudge nudge) was actually an elaborate ritual where Telltale would release several video games to act as a sacrifice to ward off the "Mega Month" and I don't know why I am making this highly contrived origin story.
In the process, the rest of us get to play some awesome new episodes from Telltale (and some remastered titles too) in order to celebrate! In the meantime, you can use this thread to discuss the news that Telltale will share throughout the month, as it seems a lot is going to happen!

'Minecraft: Story Mode' Episode 2 - Assembly Required Trailer
In the second chapter of the story, time is running out for our intrepid heroes. The Wither Storm looms ever closer, consuming everything in its wake. Depending on their decisions, Jesse and friends are off to explore either kingdoms of chaos or wondrous Redstone marvels in search of Magnus or Ellegaard, the remaining known members of The Order of the Stone. Can these legendary figures help our heroes stop the impending threat?
Your path in ‘Assembly Required’ will differ greatly depending on your choices made in ‘The Order of the Stone’, so more than one playthrough is definitely recommended after your season concludes! Did you choose to save Gabriel or Petra amid the Wither Storm? Did you choose to seek the help of Magnus the Griefer or Ellegaard the Redstone Engineer? This is one of our most divergent episodes yet depending on the paths you’ve chosen - and many players will have completely different experiences depending on where they’ve decided to go!

It's coming out on the same day as Minecraft.
We don't know for sure that the Game of Thrones finale is coming out in October - only "soon after Borderlands." If it does, I'll certainly make sure to add it!
The new blog post has some info:

Next up - more news on the Minecraft: Story Mode premiere, and finales for Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones! Stay tuned...
Well looks like I have to be playing 4 hours of games.
It's coming soon after Tales from the Borderlands. There's a possibility that it'll come out in October, but with all of the other releases by Telltale going on that month, it'll probably be released in November. In any case, we have a lot to look forward to from Telltale this Fall:
Since no one's added it in yet:
'Minecraft: Story Mode' Episode 1 - 'The Order of the Stone' Trailer
Whoops, forgot to update the thread. Thanks for the heads up!
Updated the thread with info about the Minecraft Let's Play, and also made the post a little more well organized.
TOO MUCH!
Telltale has some more Mega Month goodness coming our way:
I wish Steam had a system in place where they'd give you a discount on the pack if you own some of the games already, like GOG.com does.
As it stands, it'd be almost as much to get the last five games I don't have on Steam as it would be to get the pack. That's pretty crazy.
*rubs hands together
This is gonna be sooo good, I can't wait to play them!
I'm So Excited
Still no The walking Dead season 3 or Wolf Among Us Season 2 news...so..
And...? So what? There's TFTB, GOT, BTTF and MCSM.
We should also mention that the Minecraft: Story Mode premiere will be livestreamed on Youtube.
Aside from TFTB & GOT.
Those last two .I simply don't care.
I think Telltale trying out new things (besides BttF, which is a remaster) is a good thing. If Telltale only made games that people were familiar with, we'd have never gotten games like Wolf Among Us, Tales from the Borderlands, etc. When those two games were announced, people had similar reactions to what people had during the Minecraft announcement. It never hurts for Telltale to broaden their palette.
Good thing Telltale doesn't make games just for you then huh? ^-^
I personally find it helps to mentally compare Telltale to a TV channel. Sure, it's absolutely reasonable to expect each of the (notable) shows aired on a channel to be of similar quality, but that doesn't mean you have to like every single show, or that each each show is aimed for the exact same demographic.
Woo hoo! The mega month has begun! I've played Minecraft Story Mode episode 1, and I'm playing through Back to the Future: The Game - 30th Anniversary Edition on Xbox 360 now.
It's so much better with Tom Wilson as Biff. Kid Beyond was good as wimpy Biff, but Tom Wilson gives Biff toughness even when in 1986, like he did when he didn't know that it was Marty at the end of the first film. It's a much more nuanced performance, and the game benefits from that. Kid Beyond is still the voice for Cliff and Riff though, but it works better this way now that the three brothers don't all sound nearly identical anymore. Plus, they left the voice of Kid Tannen alone, which I was worried about when it was announced that Tom Wilson would be replacing the Tannens. Kid's voice actor did such a fantastic job that it really would have been a shame if he was replaced. Thankfully that's not the case.
What did you think Story Mode?, Jennifer
Telltale posted a interview with Tom Wilson about Back to the Future.
enter link description here
How is the behind the scenes content?
There's just one video that talks about the making of the game, interspersed with archived interviews from 2010 and 2011 with Christopher Lloyd and Bob Gale and new snippets of interviews with Bob Gale, AJ Locascio and Tom Wilson, and mixed in with scenes of Christopher Lloyd, Tom Wilson, Claudia Wells, and AJ Locascio in the booth recording their lines. They are really small snippets though. The Tom Wilson bits comes from the interview OzzyUK posted below, but sadly the whole video of that interview isn't available on the disc.
I really liked Minecraft: Story Mode. It continued the modern Telltale formula in a good way. It has an interesting story about a beast that is unleashed, and the game's group has to track down people who can help stop it. It has choices in the dialog, with consequences that come in the form of characters changing their opinion on you based on what you choose. Plus, there are choices to make on which character to save. It expands on the idea introduced in The Wolf Among Us of choosing one path, and the other one plays out whether you are there or not. Except this time, it feels like the choice matters more, as it extends into the next episode rather than being contained in a single chapter.
The new stuff is what I really liked though. I really like the idea of having customizable characters, including gender. Male and female Jesse have the same lines, but the actors read the lines really differently, so going through for a second playthrough really is worthwhile to hear those subtle differences. There's two areas of exploration here where you can just stop and look around and interact with objects and characters. The first one doesn't have a lot of character interaction though, but it's definitely good to see more areas that allow you to explore, without being led on rails through cutscenes and quick time events. Speaking of quick time events, there aren't as many of them here, which is my absolute favorite part of the game. The direct controlled action with a hit counter really shines. It's miles better than quick time events, and I really hope it becomes the standard for Telltale's action scenes from here on out.
They make good use of Minecraft style of gameplay through the crafting table, which lets you collect items to craft. These items are sometimes used to craft weapons, as expected, but they can also be used to craft items for use in getting out of situations (and the item you can craft depends on the items you collect in your inventory). I was also pleasantly surprised to see the return of real puzzles, in the form of a switch puzzle at the end of the episode.
It's a nice blend of old Telltale with new Telltale, mixed in with mechanics that never have been in a Telltale game before. Plus, there are in-joke references to Telltale's classic games in here as well, which is always appreciated.
A Tales from the Borderlands Episode 5 trailer is coming tomorrow!
Episode 5 of Tales from the Borderlands is coming out today, and on top of that, Job Stauffer teased during a Minecraft: Story Mode AMA that we might get news on Game of Thrones Episode 6 this week.
