So Apart From Minecraft and Michonne, What's Next?

edited October 2015 in General Chat

With Tales now over and the GoT finale coming up real soon (Telltale Soon) I can't help but feel a modicum of mild depression slowly fall upon me... for so long we had these awesome games periodically released, but its like we won't see anything amazing come for a while...

Sure there's the Minecraft Game their currently developing but I'm not touching that... and there's the Michonne 3 episode long mini-series that you can only get if you've purchased TWD S2 Ep 1, but is that all for 2015? The Marvel Game is way off in 2017 so there's little point thinking about that, but does Telltale have any more big amazing projects coming up towards the end of 2015? I feel like with the end of Tales, we're out of this 'golden period' where we had Tales and GoT (not as good as Tales but still pretty good). both being worthy follow-ups (in terms of release) to Telltale's other acclaimed works like TWD S1/S2 and TWAU, but now this 'golden period' is about to pass with the end of GoT (until we get that 2nd season in a few long years time), so basically I'm both worried and curious about what's next?.

Will it be a long while before Telltale's next big thing? (that and since LiS is also over I feel kind of empty with no more amazing interactive story games)

Telltale have hinted (but not officially confirmed) that their first game with their new Super Show game format will premiere next year. They have not revealed what their first Super Show will be, but it will combine a traditional Telltale game with a TV show where the two will influence each other while also being enjoyable on their own.

Besides that, we might also get more news on Walking Dead: Season 3 next year, and (as nothing more than pure speculation on my part) it could also premiere towards the end of next year, sometime after Michonne ends. Speaking of Michonne, that is very likely to carry on into 2016; I am not Telltale staff, but with how late into the year Episode 1 of Michonne is releasing, we will very likely get the next two episodes in early 2016.

At this point, Telltale has gotten big enough to where in one year, you can very likely expect them to finish two Seasons from their last year and premiere two new Seasons later into the year. As an example of what I'm talking about, you can look back on 2014. We had the continuations of Wolf and Walking Dead Season 2 which started in 2013, and we also got the premieres of Borderlands and Game of Thrones. You can probably expect a schedule like that from here on out, as it seems to be what Telltale is aiming for.

Nope; Telltale is making an original franchise, and they are creating both a game and a TV show for it. People can both play the Telltale game and watch the show, and they are calling their new TV/Game hybrid a Super Show. They have not revealed details on what their original franchise is going to be about, but more info will come in 2016.

I'm hoping we don't get another dry year after the walking Dead Season 1. I know there's Story Mode and Michonne, but Story Mode is going by really fast and will be done from the looks of it by spring and Michonne is only 3 episodes. Season 3 is definitely not happening until fall/winter and I'm assuming super show as well. Will I have to go without Telltale through the summer? I'm just being super greedy I know...

I think Telltale has gotten past the point where we will have dry spells for an extended time. Since Michonne is just a mini series, maybe we could either get the Super Show mid-2016, or something else small to fill in the gap such as another mini series or pilot game. Even during the wait after Walking Dead: Season 1, we still got Poker Night 2 and 400 Days so I could see them using smaller projects to potentially fill any extended gaps again.

Seems that the success has gotten to their hat.

Still, I like the idea of original IP. Something this Telltale Games can be recognized from and not being "lend" by other companies.

I wouldn't mind if the "actual" puzzles came back too.
