There's a new Back to the Future short on the 30th Anniversary DVD and Blu Ray that takes place in 'our' 2015. It explains why we don't have all the futuristic stuff that was in the second Back to the Future film. I haven't picked up the 30th Anniversary disc set yet, but after hearing about this, I definitely want to. Here's a teaser trailer for it:

Has anyone seen it yet? The short's premise sounds like it should be fun. :)

I finally bought the box set and saw it myself this afternoon. It was pretty funny. I liked the play on current issues, such as widespread obesity, and the idea that selfies could lead to the destruction of the world cracked me up. :D

That said though, the fact that it ended with a photo showing that Griff still gets arrested means that Marty still went to 2015 and stopped Griff's gang from recruiting his son. Which makes me wonder how Back to the Future II and III (as well as Telltale's game, the animated television show, and the game) would have worked without the hoverboard, flying DeLorean, and Mr. Fusion (unless Doc made one of each of those three things for himself just so the events could play out properly).

  • I'm getting the boxset tomorrow. I think at this point I own the trilogy six or seven times now as a matter of fact! Loved the 2010 25th Anniversary set so quite looking forward to getting my hands on this one.
