Black Background and Other Glitches

so ive just downloaded this game and it has been glitching alot
i play on pc and am playing though steam
ive had:
black backgrounds
no walls
black marks dissapearing and reapearing on the chars (i assume where shadows would be)
no buttons

if anyone else has had these problems can you let me know so i can fix it
