Remembrance Day (A.K.A Veteran's Day) thread.
Here, in honour of those of whom have died or been effected in war - civilian, combative or otherwise, we share our stories, experiences and that of our ancestors, so that we may allow their memory to live on.
They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them
LEST WE FORGET.

Bravo!
Is it Veteran's Day for the living and Memorial Day for the departed?
Yeah.
That pretty much sums up Remembrance Day.
My great-great grandpa was in World War 2
One of my grandfathers was in the Mexican Revolution
BTW: Remembrance day in the UK is called Poppy day.
I don't have any living veterans in the family, but my great grandfather served in Ethiopia for Italy shortly before WWII. Not sure how much combat he saw, if any.
I also had a distant relative on the same side of the family who fought at Kasserine Pass during the North Africa campaign. He ended up killing himself some time after the war. I did a little research and learned that the battle was a lopsided bloodbath, with 10,000+ American and British casualties over a short few days.
It's a difficult job, and I respect those who do it.
