i hope so. im sure they will if lucas arts dont wanna take the helm seems to be really popular so why not?

It's going to be a balance between:

If it sells too little, it won't be worthwhile.

If it sells too much, LucasArts will go, "Hey, why are we letting Telltale make so much money with OUR license???" and pull it back in house.

So for a second season from Telltale, hope for something in the middle. :)

Personally, I would rather have Sam and Max Season 3 first. But if Monkey Island sells well enough, (and people stop complaining about the 3D) then it's a no brainer that a second season will be made.

I can see LEC doing something like it is right now - make another special edition of MI, release it with Tales of Monkey Island 2. Or make a new MI game along with an episodic game released prior to the new one.

I'd be surprised if LEC severed ties totally with TTG.

Considering the name of the game is plural (Tales of Monkey Island), but the 5 episodes are all one big arc forming one tale, it seems like TTG has definitely left the door open for more seasons.

They've already said that a second season of Tales of Monkey Island wouldn't be called "Tales of Monkey Island", but something else. "Tales" refers to the five episodes and the individual stories that add up to the one epic story.

So another season could be, for example, "Escape from Monkey Island".

...Personally, I kind of miss Sam and Max's esoteric brand of personalized criminal justice.

    Link?

Because I thought I read something by one of the TTG guys that Tales refers to the whole story arc, but maybe I'm remembering wrong.

OK, I did finally find a quote from Jake:

I think that if we did another Monkey Island game after this, it would have a title wholly separate from "Tales of." (Like Sam & Max Save the World, Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space.) I don't know if that would really be the case, because doing another Monkey series is the last thing on anyone's minds right now, what with the first one not out yet.

That's not a definite "no" on keeping "Tales."

While it's not a definite no, it at least pretty much says that at least for right now, the Tales refers to the events of the season.

To be fair, we just did recently get a second season of Sam and Max a year ago.

To be fair, compared to the wait between Seasons 1 and 2, it's been quite a while! Also, we *are* getting Monkey Island *now*. The first episode is just now out, and people are already clamoring for a new season of Tales.

I think that if someone can want a season 2 a few days after Episode 1 of Season 1 comes out, then I can want a new season three series later.

Well, Chuck isn't working on ToMI and they don't seem like they have a new series in development so I really, really hope that means S&M season three is being pounded into submission for a December release, at which point MI will be over so the new season starting won't take away any publicity from the old season's ending. I also hope that if they have a second season they still call it Tales of Monkey Island. It's a shnazzy title. The could call them Tales of Monkey Island The Pox of LeChuck and Tales of Monkey Island The Vaycalization or Whatever.

I think telltale might be interested to discuss about possibilities of continue the series as well, especially with the reception it have received so far. I'm still holding my breath for 2015...
