IGN Review - 6.7
So it's not looking so good I'll be playing it myself of course but I was hoping things would be more positive, given the almost 5 month period it took to make this episode; the reviewer claims the episode does not resolve story arcs and leaves it off with cliffhangers, that's not good, we want a finalizing episode with resolution to the story, but we may be out of luck

This may be the first time I agree with IGN's low ratings for this game. The finale was very disappointing, I'm very upset with how it ended. Not spoiling it though, still pissed me off.
IGN's ratings tend to be pretty shitty. Most people are giving the episode an 8/10 which is pretty good. Don't let some review lower your expectations.
It is the first time I agree with them, too. I honestly blame my high expectations, though. It wasn't a horrible episode, I think it was pretty okay, but I had high expectations because of how good the Tales finale was and because of the long waiting time, even if I had more than enough reasons (Episode 5) to keep my expectations low.
I don't mean to be pessimistic here, but I really don't foresee this episode getting the best review scores. That's not to say it's bad or anything (I was very pleasantly surprised/impressed with it), but I just have this feeling that it won't be getting too many 9s and 10s. I'm not sure why, but I just feel like that's going to be the case.
That being said though, it's best to ignore review scores and just play it yourself. All these x/10 scores do is warp your expectations. If you want an opinion on something before playing it, I think it's infinitely better to hear the actual reasons instead of a number.
It seems Telltale might've been too ambitious with the finale (Still haven't played it), but judging from love/hate around here it seems to come down to Telltale biting off more than they can chew.
I have not been the most avid supporter of this title, I feel in general it was lackluster with such a small scale when compared to the book and show it's based on. I will however finish it, I purchased the season pass on day one, and have waited almost a year to finish it.
I am agree with you, man.
I had different views on some opinions then the review maker. Mostly I am disappointed with 6.7 mark - it is low imo. I am the one, who rated episode - 8/10 for myself.
Like IGN is always correct... I actually really liked the finale. It definitely deserved at least an 8.
I liked almost every part of the finale except how Mira's storyline ends. And I still don't fully understand what the North Grove is.
Too harsh, it's 8.5/10 for me, not as good as The Vault of the Traveler, but still good enough.
I agree that some of the plot lines not being resolved this Season didn't help the episode, but I don't think it deserves that low of a score. I'd give it an 8 or so.
Ign did not give this the score it wanted because it would be to different from the other episodes, this finale was epic
Not as good as vault of the travallier or no time left, but ten times better than cry wolf and no going back
Can someone post a link to IGN's article on the finale? I'd like to see all the pros and cons they compiled.
Here
For once.....and I hate to say it, but I agree with IGN as much as that sickens me. Though I gave the episode a 7/10. It was ok, but that's it ok at best. Everything was boring or didn't make sense except the Asher stuff which was the highlight of the episode and some of the Gared stuff was okay, but kind of dumb. The Mira stuff just like all season was awful and boring.
I liked Cry Wolf and No Going Back
Yeah honestly what was the north grove why are we protecting it why is it that it should never be lost I don't get it that was a let down as well as mira storyline finale
"Too much snow. 6.7/10." - IGN
ign sucks dick.the only reason why ign is still even relevant its cuz if Naomi kyle. i mean some guys that are there are still kinda good, but ign is just shit. whether you hate greg and everyone from kindafunny, they actually made ign watchable.
The North Grove was the power she had over the random warriors who have no origin as well as the Warg.
Now I definetely now that IGN is run by idiotic trolls. This epiosde is great and it deserves 10/10.
Hmmm... you know, despite IGN obviously having a personal vendetta against Telltale, they do raise some valid points with their pros and cons about the finale:
Pros:
Cons:
Maybe we should consider IGN's viewpoint a bit more seriously, could we have overrated the finale?
What personal vendetta?
Legends speak about a parrot, a chair and Van Gogh's missing ear, however how those things caused the great vendetta is beyond my comprehension.
I just finished and I disagree (because of course I would) I got the worst ending in the history of the entire world, but besides that it was a very well done episode. It's not my favorite episode of the season, but Telltale's ambition was clearly there and they tried very hard to make you feel like your choices mattered and at least imo they most certainly did. I would give it an 8.5/10
I agree. I've tried to put into words on what was wrong with it. But plain and simple the ending I got was just bad writing/cliffhangers for the sake of having cliff hangers.
Now if there is a ending where you can win the battle somehow. Or multiple endings I'd easily give this episode a 8/10.
Have you seen their reviews for TBTB? They obviously don't like Telltale, maybe because its an independent game studio unlike Ubisoft.
They present some valid points on this one, but it's still a too low score. A 7.5 would do i.t
In total agreement there. I loved the setup for Season 2 though.
I'd go for a 7 or a 7.5 Not a very good episode. But i enjoyed it nonetheless.
If I remember correctly, they gave TFTBL episode 4 a 6, what bull!
I would rate it much lower. If I was rating based on story, I would say it's good. But since this is a game, there are more things to consider. It's a mess of bugs. The framerate makes gameplay frustrating for me, and the sound is so horrible I can't even. Telltale should make text adventures.
Yes, which is why they panned both season 1 and 2 of the walking dead, and the wolf among us. Can we all please just accept that not everybody is going to have the same opinion on a game and try not to find ways to dismiss a critics opinion on a game just because it does not align with your own?
I didn't encounter any bugs in my two playthroughs, nor any framerate issues. What system did you play the episode on?
Regardless of whether any of you agree with it or not, how can any of you actually take IGN's opinion seriously?
They liked every episode of TFTB aside from its 4th episode, which I believe the reviewer called hot trash, but that was the only one, that's not a vendetta.
Yeah, well fuck IGN. Overrated channel.
Hot Trash for an episode they gave a 6/10? IGN doesn't understand review scores at all!
Telltale games are pretty buggy on consoles. I had no bugs at all on PC, except one part where the lip sync wasn`t lined up correctly.
But what are we supposed to protect?
