Question: Why does Kylo Ren need a helmet? At least Vader needed it because of the burns he sustained in the battle with Kenobi. Kylo wears it with no explanation given. And why is Kylo evil in Vader's name anyhow? Did Vader killing the emperor and saving his son, thus redeeming himself mean absolutely nothing?
Those could be answered in the next Episodes, for the helmet thing, I'm not too sure, it seems like allot of Sith just prefer wearing helmets, perhaps Kylo Ren wears a helmet in honor to Darth Vader? Perhaps Kylo Ren is a fan of Anakin Skywalker and just likes the Dark Side, he respects/admires Darth Vader's feats - killing several hundreds of Jedi.

Lol, he didn't even have a chance to meet his grandfather. Where did he get Vader's mask when we just saw Luke burning his father completely? And did Han tell his son about his adventure along with Luke and Leia?

There is a lot of mystery surrounding Ben's fall into darkness, but there is a lot of vague implying that made a theory.
By what Han and Leia tells about their son, it seems that he was a lot like Vader growing up. That couldn't either be that Ben was hot-headed like the younger Anakin or the brooding and silent person like Darth Vader. Considering the way they briefly talked about Ben's past, it seems that his parent's fear that he would turn out like Darth Vader. And considering that Ben was strong in the force and how Kylo seems talented at mind reading, it is possible that Ben saw his parent's fear that he would turn out like Darth Vader.
I don't think I would feel comfortable knowing that my own parents believe that I would turn into a monster, since it is a sign that his parents doesn't trust him. This must have been nagging Ben's mind for so long that the only way to accept this, it was to accept it and become this dark and fearsome figure in order to deal with it. It could also be that it caused Ben to have an identity conflict, that's why he is seeking to establish a new identity for himself, that of Kylo Ren, who is built upon the image of Darth Vader.
Yes, Kylo Ren doesn't need a helmet to breathe, he is using the helmet to create an identity that is he more comfortable with. And during Kylo and Han's confrontation near the end of the movie, Kylo refer to Ben as a "weakling". So it is obvious that he has a huge amount of self-loathing to his past identity.
Now, this is just a guess and a theory, that is built on what the first movie told us. No doubt our questions will be answered in the next two films.

When I first saw this theory about Rey I thought it was just plain stupid. But the more I thought about it; the more it made sense. If this theory is real it can bring the new trilogy in a unexpecting turn that not to many people will see coming.

Kylo Ren with his father and uncle.
And Finn.
All the Good Guys are wearing shades.
That's a great observation!
Light Siders Need Shades /
Dark Siders, Not
"Matt straight up sucks!"
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. A film based around young Obi-Wan defending infant Luke from Darth Maul is something I want now.
Yes! The prequels had their (tons of) flaws but Ewan McGregor was most certainly not one of them.
Yes! I need more Ewan McGregor.
Or maybe Kylo Ren has finally achieve immunity over the Light Side?

Literally his entire character is trying to live up to vader. So he tries to copy everything about him, including a helmet.
Yeah, he is the chosen one
