A question for all of you great fanartists

Soo, i've been wanting to get into doing fanart for a while now, and the few pieces I did were mostly done in the Windows' Paint cuz i'm a newb, and the problem with it obviously its that its very limited... So, any of you guys that do all the great fanart cuz there is a lot of it, can you tell me, like some good program or something thats free and its not TOO hard to use but if you practice there's good results???

    Try SFM. Its hard at first but when you learn how to pose it gets fun

    XNALara = It's quite a simple program, but you need to know how to convert models into it's supported format.

    KeyShot = A simple program for rendering 3D models.

    Try doing pixel art with paint, :d

    Try Paint Tool Sai. It's a great program to start digital art in, and you can find it for free on the internet somewhere.

    Though I caution you to have a good virus fighting software to download it. I got a nasty virus when I downloaded it without a virus software.

    Also, invest in a cheap 50 dollar wacom tablet. They last long, and are amazing for any level artist.

    Join Deviantart to connect with other artists and become a part of an artist community. Been there for 10 years and have met great people there.

    I use Paint.NET

    It's simple to use, free, and it can be expanded upon quite a lot once you get the hang of it and want to go farther since it supports plugins.

    Paint Tool SAI is what I use, it's easy to use and if not, easy to get the hang of. A drawing tablet would help a lot, too. Like Hollay said, a cheap $50 Wacom tablet should do the trick.
