With the new turn of events, I'd expect Lucasarts to hold on to Grim Fandango and make something out of it themselves. They probably would not sell that IP. Not if they're smart, anyway.
Na, they don't want Telltale to become LA 2.0. They just hope to see sequels to their favourite games games, and since Telltale managed to get the MI licence they are hoping... Personally I'd like to see all the LA (and Sierra) adventure franchises return one day, wether by Telltale or otherwise, but I also want them to make new games. Let's just hope this is only the beginning and Telltale will stay with us for a long time and will continue to make great adventure games...
I like the idea of Telltale doing the occasional LEC licensing - Maniac Mansion/DOTT would be good considering Dave works here - but I'd actually like to see LucasArts make new games and sequels in addition to remakes in house too. Have your cake and eat it too.
The reaction is not surprising though considering Telltale's original claim to fame was Sam and Max - a series popularized originally by a LEC adventure game. Whether or not Telltale's games are better is irrelevant, but that's where the hype came from. Add in Monkey Island you start seeing tons of clamoring for remakes and revivals - I personally would love a return to Kyrandia but'll never happen.

But now seeing the dedication, commitment and care for the community who support them, I would not like to see TellTale become LA 2.0!
Let's face it, TellTale really are a step ahead of any other company imo as far as customer and media support go!
