How many decisions really matter?

edited January 2016 in Game Of Thrones

The only ones i feel can really impact your story are the sentinel choice, whether or not to write a fake letter to Eleana Glenmore, whether or not to bring Finn along, whether or not to kill the traitor, who to save, to kill Ludd or Gryff (Rodrik), every Asher choice in episode 6, and whether or not to marry Morgryn. Have I forgotten any?

  • Well, everyone has a different definition of what it is that makes a decision "matter."

I personally feel that every decision matters--if it's not altering the story in one way or another, it's shaping your version of the characters, and defining their relationships with the people and world around them.

But in terms of one's that above all, impact the story, I think you've covered the key ones. You could maybe add maiming / sparing Gryff as it changes his whole appearance for the finale (and season 2, if he survives). And, although not a major choice, choosing whether Elaena leaves or stays in Ironrath, determines whether she is captured by the Whitehills, or is currently free and safe.

Yeah good point. I guess I was being a little unclear. I meant which ones changes your story, although the ones that changes people's opinions on you matter too in their own way. And I totally forgot that last one

  • I would say also:

    • kill or run away from the lannister guard (doesn't make a difference story-wise but can serve as player justification to let Tom be executed)
    • Comforting Elaena, since it can lead to potential complications with Eleana later
    • Killing Cotter with mercy or blood magic could have effect on our relationship with Sylvi and Elsera
    • Leaving or staying in the north grove seems like a large choice as well

A lot of these are still under the assumption they will become relevant later in the story, though. I suppose the Beskha/Malcolm choice and the choice with Beskha's slave master, and keeping or telling Sera's secret to Tarwick are lasting ones too.
