Yes, yes, and yes.
Looks disappointing.
Seems that cosmetics are quite limited due they wear such a clothing that many options wouldn't be practical.
The game seems to be good but this is some kind of sore thumb to me.
I played the Xbox One Closed Beta last week or so, and it was pretty cool. Graphics are good. Not as good as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or Rise of the Tomb Raider, but still nice.
Edit: My OCD is getting the better of me: I misremembered The Division. I watched my friend play the closed beta, and I plan on playing the open beta. As far as the graphics, I still believe they're not as good, but that's just me, and graphics aren't everything anyway.
Missed out on the closed beta so I'm definitely going to play this open one. Can't wait to kill some street bandits!
I heard the map was severely reduced, and I don't mean the beta playable area, I mean the map as a whole. That is disappointing for me.
Parts of the map are blocked in the beta, the map size is still the same.
Papai, just in case you didn't see it, I'll put it again. I don't mean the beta playable area size, I mean the map as a whole. It's quite normal for the beta playable size to be a reduction of the major map, as is the same with the beta. The map they had shown before included parts of new York that wasn't just lower Manhattan, but some of Queens and others. That is taken away which just includes lower Manhattan now.
The most likely thing is that they plan to sell other parts of New York as DLC packages in the future. That is disappointing to me.
I just wonder how this game will do compared to stuff like APB Reloaded. For example, the Division game asks money upfront additionally to its potential "free to play" like shop system (Think Guild Wars 2.)
As I mentioned before, the extensive character customization will be important. I have watched some videos about it but your customization is basically pick your cap, scarf, upper body, lower body and shoes. Well sounds mostly standard but did you want also to color them? Haha.
My avatar in APB Reloaded is this and so far these both games seem quite similar.

What I have seen about combat seems that they try to implement cover based shooter that works well against other players with RPG stats and stuff like that. Some players don't like that the guns feel ineffective due that.
I will, because I didn't have mich time to play the closed beta. I got a beta code from Humble Bundle, which means I should have been GUARANTEED a key to download it. I redeemed it on the website the moment I got it (it was Friday), and got it on sunday (finally, 2 days after the Beta started), and then it took me a whole day to download it. Only managed to play about 2 hours of it on the last day. I really feel they should have organised themselves better. (My friend got his code Monday morning, but he had no time to play it later that day.)
I really want to see more of it. Only did the first mission and then sprinted to the Dark Zone to see what all the hubbub was about. I died 5 times, and barley found anything in DZ. I am glad they made another beta, because I felt ripped off.
I've seen the map in game, and the one that is going to be in the full game looks like it's only the middle chunk of Manhattan island. Only a third of the actual thing. And the beta's was a third of that as well... The Beta map was pretty big though. (I kinda wish they let us do some fast travel or other mode of transportation. Going from one end of the map to the other to meet a friend at the starting point wouldn't be fun.
(the picture is big, so here just the link.) The white lines are the borders of what would be the full game. Think of a third of that, and you've got the Beta.

Yes, it's a relative small map for what they could've done.
The closed beta was so much fun! I don't know about this beta, I may just wait for the full game.
They had fast traveling. The only part they needed one where they didn't have it was to the DZ.
Thread: The Division: Beta
Anyone playing it?? what are your thoughts? are you buying when it comes out?
i think ill skip this one. it just bore the shit outta me and i hate this MMO bullshit. its gonna be basically Destiny 3rd person.
Is that just because damage numbers are used when you shoot people? Because they are not alike at all.
Fair enough if you don't like it, but i'm guessing you don't like MMO's anyway.
well i played destiny and it bored me. but i really dont play them. i just like for games to be single player and its MP if they wish to have one, i mean i played borderlands and i enjoyed the shit out of that one, but thats more or so Co-op. so yes i really dont like this MMO type games. also isk why, but this bullet absorbent enemies pissed me off. like a head shot, should kill someone. one shot. thats it. i know wif you level up you'll get much powerful weapons but idk it just bothers me. but this is a beta, well its a demo, is so close to release date. idk the whole thing looked very interesting and if the thing was separate, campaign/ MP, i think it would have been awesome.
ill just wait for a big price drop.
Yeah fair enough I see what you mean.
ok UPDATE: i have enjoyed it a bit more, i like that like echo thing? is that what is called? where they kinda look into the past of a certain even. the PVP zone still is like ehh. i just dont like having to depend on someone to just go kill the AI and get more stuff. i mean i get where the fun is in that but i like to Lone Wolf it more. i guess that im just used to TLOU Factions that i can more often than not at least take on more than just one person. but i still think that i just wait for a discount. maybe ill rent it when the full game is released and maybe it can change my mind. i mean i know some people that theyve already noticed some change from this open beta from the close beta.
I played the open beta. It has great production values as far the story, visuals etc go but I wonder how sustainable that will be to do new content at reasonable pace. I mean there are quite big mission specific areas and even side missions have their own extensive areas that didn't look like rushed or anything like that.
This is one of a few MMO like games where I actually wanted "open world" PvP. And since it's probably one of the areas they want really focus in the end-game I say that they have done a good job with it so far. Also one of a few cases where PvP is actually tied to the story.
