What were they thinking when they made EMI changing not only her voice but her ACCENT! Thats one thing that i could never get over! So glad the CMI actress is back.

Ummmm...Im guessing that the op is asking whether people thought it was a good idea changing Elaine's accent back to English.

Im my opinion I prefer the English accent, It just sounds right. To be honest I was a little disappointed with Davey Nipperkin, it just reminded me too much of Harry Moleman :o

I guess I was asking if anyone knew why. Its such a lapse in continuity. On that other thread people seem to be referring to English people speaking English as an accent on the language and Americans speaking English as having no accent at all... how odd lol.

I don't think it really matters.. as long as we have Dominic doing his thing, some of the other characters can do some swahili if it fits the episode.

Are you sure that the change was intentional?
Possibly Elaine's original voice actor just wasn't available for EFMI?

Of course that in itself would only explain the change actor and not the change of accent...

They probably figured since it was being released on PS3 they would make it more American friendly and have her use an American accent hoping that it would be a huge hit on PS3... Just a guess.

They do it in movies all the time from books they have a foreign character to American to appeal to the US.

Personally, I think it would be funny if they got the American-Accented Elaine back for LeChucks Revenge: Special Edition, and the next episode of Tales, then flipped them back and forth per episode.

That way, it could be kind of a running gag....

Honestly I've never really cared much about Elaine enough to be annoyed with the vocal swap.

    I prefer the American Elaine

I think american elane fit her EFMI charecter as a smart govener type but the english was better for pirate princess in CMI TMI SMI:SE

Her Brit accent is sexy and elegant while her American voice is annoying to say the least.

Well, she must travel a lot. She was probably in the USA in Monkey Island 5, so she lost a bit of her sexy british accent.

Am I the only one who never felt attracted, sexually, to Elaine? I mean yeah, I really dig her character - but you know...

Those games are usually played away from the computer, or anythiing breakable for that matter...

Yeah I always enjoyed American Elaine more. Weird.

I am attracted to the new Elaine, not the previous ones.

From the requests from the forum, we would need a german Elaine, a spanish Elaine, an italian Elaine, a swahili Elaine, an esperanto Elaine and a klingon Elaine too. Good luck finding so many Elaines...

I prefer the british Elaine, even though I can see why someone would think it doesn't fit her tough pirate girl image.

    Wasn't Madonna Argentinian in Evita?

    This didn't happen...

Yeah it did..... I have heard her talk in a British accent... in plenty of interviews.

And she was born and grew up in Michigan.

Its like she figures since she had married an English dude she should start talking in an English accent....

I married an Asian girl maybe I should start speaking in an Asian accent.

Sexy and elegant? She sounds pretty much the opposite to me. Like she could be on Eastenders.

In fact, my biggest gripe with Alexandra Boyd is that she makes Elaine sound like a lower-class chav.

Yeah it is not elegant... Its a pretty rough sounding accent, but I like it. Its good for that character.

I like American Elaine better. British Elaine just doesn't seen as natural to me.

She was actually on Coronation Street, not EastEnders! :p

WELL if were talking about her sounding natural NONE of them should have American accents as its set in the 1600s lol and they didnt even exist back then! It would all be English, various European accents and West Indian.

But they did have Grog Machines back then....FACT.
