Why is it seemingly nowadays that if a person has a traditional view about a social issue, they are?

  • No I won't because it's my right. Punishing people for speaking their mind is wrong. Who are we to decide what can be said or not?

Yes, because people who support physical violence on harmless people are definitely being punished when someone points out their cruelty. Many, many people aren't going to respect that hate speech and nether will I. That doesn't make any of them hypocrites. Maybe you're the one that needs to respect people's "rights" to respond to that kind of hate speech. The fact you would ever defend someone who would say something like the person I'm talking about in my original comment did is nothing short of disgusting.

  • Something I've noticed from reading the comments in this little thread is that he seems completely unwilling to realize the fact that people can respond to hate speech with their own take on it. He also doesn't seem to know what the word "hypocrite" means. Oh well, debating was worth a shot.

It seems that you do not understand my point at all. I am for the absolute freedom of speech that nowadays is being sacrificed for so called tolerance and PC. And please tell where have I wrote that I do not respect the right to respond to that kind of behavior hm? What I wrote is that the people who do hate speech should be ready to face the consequences of it. Also there are laws set against violence against minorities act so I fail to see why we also need to censor everything.
Also I don't know what he was saying. But people have the right to say whatever they want in my opinion. That way leads only to censorship and the only correct way of thinking where people aren't allowed to have their opinions, welcome to the Orwells year 1984

  • He also seems to think that I am advocating the silencing of the person in question, I'm not. That person is an idiot, he should be called out on his idiocy, his opinion should not be respected in the slightest, but he should still be allowed to say it (unless we get into the realm of actively trying to cause the physical harm of others through speech, setting a specific target, time, group, whatever).

ahh here it came, the infamous shaming tactic. Oh he HAS to be an idiot because he don't see the world I do! What a moron! Who are you to tell me whenever I'm right or wrong about my views hmm? So let me pass the ball here. I think your views are simply unrealistic and childish. So they should not be respected in slighest. But as I said you have the right to say them out loud because we have freedom of speech.

Please spare me this. If you read my comments with understanding you would know that I am aware that people can and should respond to hate speech. That's what I meant behind ,,the hate preachers should be ready for the consequences."
Read my comments more carefully next time. Also before you assume that I lack the knowledge about basic terms as hypocrite tell me...how would you call a person that says for example, We have to respect women rights! But at the same time we have to accept the certain cultures right to oppress women!

  • Because even within a click of friends there is a sense of political agenda when trying to gain favor over the others if you have a disagreement with one of the others. etc etc

Politics surrounds us controls every aspect of our lives and most people do not even notice. Imagine congress as two clicks of high school girls who hate each other and it accurately describes Democrats and Republicans. lol
