"A judge in Nevada has outraged many after deciding to lower a convicted sex offender’s sentence from life in prison with the possibility of parole in 10 years to just one year in prison. The decision to lower the prison term came only one week after the original sentencing.
Washoe County Judge Brent Adams changed the sentence to one year in prison and five years probation because, as he claims, there was a clerical error in filing a signed copy of the original sentencing. Judge Adams also says that it was never his objective to give 69-year-old Isaac Onsurez that harsh of a sentence.
According to reports, Onsurez began sexually abusing a 6-year-old girl in the late 1990s, and the abuse went on for two years, finally stopping in 1999. 12 years later, the girl decided to report what happened to her, and when charges were filed against Onsurez, he admitted to his crimes. Reports claim that the man abused the young girl over 100 times in the two-year period. When Onsurez was questioned by police, he claimed that the then six-year-old was a, “curious child that wanted sex.”
“It was the harshest sentence he could impose, and that was the justice we were looking for,” said the girl’s mother of the original sentence. “Then two days later we get a phone call.”
The victim’s father says this case should be a lesson that hiding will never allow for change to occur. "Even if you think justice has not been served, this is the kind of thing that cannot be kept secret, and allowed to go on any further," said Laurence, the girl’s father "This has to stop."
Judge Adams said in court that after a doctor was able to observe Onsurez, it was determined that he was at a low risk for abusing more children. It’s also being reported that the victim was Onsurez’s step-granddaughter. "
Another failure brought to you by our "Justice" System.
Now here's where I'm going to discuss it a little bit.
Since this little girl was the perps step-grandaughter, he should be hung for what he did. I believe that for the crimes of murder, Rape - in all its forms, should be punished with death.
Why?
Five reasons.
Think about it, as long as their in prison, we the people have to for their room and board with our hard earned tax dollars. So essentially we're paying for the crime they committed. And over a 10 - 30 year time frame, all that cash adds up to a pretty hefty sum!
An execution, on the other hand, is something we only have to pay for once. And after it's done, we never have to worry about paying for them again. Nor do we have to worry about them being released and possibly re-offending.Prisons are already busting at the seems. In fact, we have the highest prison population of any country in the world. Sooner or later we're gonna run out of places to put these people.
There has never been a documented case of a pediphile ever having been rehabilitated. To give you an idea of just how prevalent the problem is, I heard a NBC news report several years ago that stated if all Child Molesters in prison were to be executed, the prison population in America would drop by over half.
No matter how many times you punish a person, if they don't want to change, they never will. And the prison system is FULL of people like that! So then, it doesn't matter how many times you punish them for re-offending, they're just gonna keep doing it.
It sends a very clear and strong message to any would-be offenders that if they do harm someone, especially a child, these are the consequences - death. No exceptions!
