Rogue Leaders: The Story of Lucasarts

edited August 2009 in General Chat
Does anyone here have it? I saw it in a shop and really liked the look of it but it was sealed and had quite a hefty price.

How much of the book is text? I didn't want to buy something that was mostly images. Is it an interesting read and worth the money?

Thoughts please! Thanks!

    No one?

Well, actually the artwork is the only thing that's REALLY worthwhile in that book... the texts are poorly researched with several factual errors in them (and although they contain some nice backstories and anecdotes, you can get all those stories on the web, especially on mixnmojo.com), and less than one half of the book deals with the adventure games. The rest is purely Star Wars, which had me extremely disappointed. And for having access to the LucasArts archives the author surely had WAY too little artwork dug out.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of disappointed reviews from adventure gamers. I personally was only sort of interested in the book to begin with, simply because I had lost all faith in LucasArts outside of the idea that one of the Star Wars games they put out will be good for a rental every once and awhile.

That's not too bad actually, cheers! It was £35 in the shop where I saw it!

I might order it when I get paid.

That's a shame, it'd be nice to have it at least fully factual considering they were given so much access. I actually like a lot of the Star Wars games so I might enjoy the second half too.

I think I got it for like $20 utilizing www.bookfinder.com

Checked out bookfinder but Amazon is still the cheapest in the UK. Anyone know if the current edition still has the changing cover art?

One funny thing is they used a screenshot from Telltale's Sam & Max Season 1 to illustrate the part about LucasArts' Sam & Max Freelance Police :D
