[to Telltale Games] Tales of MI on EeePC

Hi guys, i'm an italian user and i love MI. I have an ASUS EeePC 1000HE (1.66Ghz, 1Gb Ram) and i'd like to play Tales Of MI. Unfortunately I downloaded the demo, and it quickly crushes. The thing is that I have no problems playing Sam & Max Season 1/2. I'd like to ask Telltale to make a patch for a 'lite version' of Tales of MI, in order to play it on a EeePC

Do you get to the menu or does it crash upon launch? If you can get to the menu, turning down the settings may help.

The eepc has an intel i950 graphics adapter and an intel atom processor , a combination absolutely unsuitable for 3d games. Sorry to say that.
The first netbooks which will be gaming capable will the the nvidia atom based ones. Blame intel for not being able to buy those, they strongarm currently Nvidia out of the netbook market by selling atoms alone twice as expensive as the atom+i950 combination.

The specs aren't the same as for Sam and Max. For ToMI a 2 GHz processor is required.
As Telltale clearly stated this they aren't responsible if the game won't work on a low-end machine and won't make a patch.
The game might still run (it does on my 1,73 GHz notebook with that horrible Intel graphics chip), but you probably will have to set resolution and graphics quality to the minimum.

I just want to give an example how bad the atom platform for games is, I once tried to play Psychonauts in lowest settings on that platform a game basically done for the ps2 and pc and around 5-6 years old. All I got was a slideshow of around 5-10 fps on a game absolutely not demanding. Not that I expected to work properly. I wont even blame the processor, since the processor has the lowest impact on the game speed, it really is the intel 950 graphics processor which already was the slowest 3d graphics chip of its generation when it was introduced about 6 years ago.

The intel 965 is somewhat better (I assume you have that one in your notebook, usually you can find those in notebooks which are optimized for Vista, but normally not used in netbooks) how far that one scales.

To the comparison an nvidia 9400m like it is used on the ion platform should not have any problem to run TMI at mid to high settings (have not tried it yet, though I have one of those beasts in my mac mini, but the performance benchmarks on the net spoke for themselves)

well, but they could release a 'control panel' in order to set preferences BEFORE starting the game. I mean, a lot of games have the Preferences outside the game, before it starts...it could be usefull. when i double-click on the icon of ToMI, it suddenly crushes and i cannot go in the menu

Since that doesn't exist, you should try this prefs file which has low settings.

I don't know what kind of netbook it was, but another user could barely play it on his.

You could always get a new computer, they're pretty cheap lately.

I managed to run one of the Strongbad games on my Eee 1000H, but even then it was in really low res (800x600) and still had glitches. I didn't even try Wallace and Gromit or ToMI on the Eee as I know its graphics card is nowhere near powerful enough.

Telltale Texas Holdem works fine though :)
