just switch versions and check! na it was sam and max in the classic version
I love Grim Fandango more than I love Monkey island!
me too, almost perfect in my opinion (and no, the controls didnt bother me one bit before someone mentions them. infact, i kinda...liked them. dono if im allowed to say that)
loved manny's cameo in MiSE, only noticed it on the second run through

Weren't both in ? I seem to remember both from my last playthrough...
(And i think he meant the actual tentacle. "tentacle guy" might make you think he saw bernard or hoagie )
sam & max sure were in, i ain't refuting this.
I asked if the tentacle wasnt there AS WELL.
As i said, i ain't sure (might run the game abit later just to verify), but i think they are.
i think it was just sam and max in the original version, might have to check that though
"yoo hoo mr tentacle guy?"
thinking about it, it cant have been in the original game. the s&m cameo was from the comics and the tentacle's first appearance was in DOTT a few years after mi1
As far as I can tell, Tentacle replaces Sam & Max. This may have been a legal issue since LucasArts don't actually own Sam & Max anymore, but that's just a guess.
he means the tentacle infront of the monkey head. still predates dott by 3years
Well the tentacles appeared in Maniac Mansion before. Althought they had no arms.
But okay, i went and checked, i was wrong.
Turns out on of the idols does look kinda like a tentacle (but with arms), but it has a head on top of it. Guess i thought "oh, funny how this thing kinda looks like a tentacle" instead of "haha, purple tentacle".

LucasArts *never* owned Sam and Max. They licensed the characters from Steve Purcell for use in the video game. They own the rights to that game, they own the rights to anything made specifically for their games, but they do not own the rights to anything Sam and Max that was invented by Purcell for things other than Hit the Road or the canceled Freelance Police.

That's awesome! Now where could they have hidden Glottis..
Edit: You might want to have a look at your image link (It seems to fail due to hotlinking)
