Things you learned but found out later that were factually wrong?

Back in the day when I was addicted to World of Warcraft, I used to think that "Mojo" was "piss." Of course now I know that it refers to magical stuff.

When I was younger, someone fooled me to think that he has AI thingy that can design games, it was way too early to have that.

I used to think that certain-colored-people were naturally way more aggressive than people of my color.

Getting easily promoted in various MMO guilds made me think that it was due I was so active, but I nowadays suspect that it was large part due my female avatars and male "leadership."

  • When I was a kid, my lovely mother informed me that eating just the icing (from a cake) would give you worms, so don't do it. Clearly bull crap and it was just a way to get me and my brother to not eat all the materials for baking a cake.

When I found out that "Kindergarden" was actually spelt "Kindergarten"

I've been spelling it wrong my entire life...

Well, considering it's German for "child garden", your spelling is not necessarily wrong, just a combination of German and English ;)
